BrickBob Studpants Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I'm not sure whether I'm onto something here, but this NYTF press release (http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lego-systems-debuts-largest-ever-collection-of-building-sets-to-inspire-builders-of-all-ages-at-american-international-toy-fair-300035121.html) mentions this tidbit in the trademark section: BBC logo © BBC 1996. Doctor Who logo © BBC 2009. Dalek image © BBC/Terry Nation 1963. Cyberman image © BBC/Kit Pedler/Gerry Davis 1966. K-9 image © BBC/Bob Baker/Dave Martin 1977. Does this mean that the Doctor Who set will be on display or did they have to put that bit of copyright information in the article simply because they mentioned the words "Doctor Who"? I sure hope it's not the latter Quote
SMC Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Doctor who was from 2 reviews ago so it could be ready to go. Would love to see what we will get. Quote
deskp Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Sounds like they are bringing EVERYTHING to the toy fair. Cartainly alot of it wont be showed to alll, and not photographable. Quote

I sure hope it's not the latter Innnnnnteresting! Interesting, indeed! That said... the design process for this one is likely just getting started. The main image for the original Ideas project does show all those characters; it could be that LEGO is simply using Andrew Clark's homemade image as sort of a placeholder for the official set, and now that they're an official licensee using it in an official capacity, they have to acknowledge all the different rights concerning all those different elements just to use the picture, and that it doesn't really reflect anything about the set other than the fact there will indeed be an official LEGO Doctor Who product. But I do hope it means all that will be there. :D Quote
legofreak86 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) I suppose there is always the possibility that TLG and BBC have already been working out the set based on that idea as it was 2 reviews ago as someone rightly said. Perhaps the BBC and Lego knew long before they announced it officially and have been working out the set in secret based on that concept by Andrew Clarke. Possible, unlikely we'll see it at the Toy Fair but if we did...if they've been working on this for a year....then it could potentially be something very cool. I'm not getting hopes up but it could be the case. It also mentions that big bang theory trademark, which is another Ideas set is it not? Which has been in the works since last year, maybe they've finished both and are showing them off in a sort of "Look at all the big hitting licenses we have". There would no need to wait to make an official announcement before beginning to come up with the final design. Most likely they started working on it the moment talks with the bbc began. Quote

Thankfully theres already some awesome stuff there in the form of the marvel, Dc, star wars and jurassic world sets, it would be nice if doctor who shows up too but its not the end of the world if it doesn't. The Chosen Minifigure Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Have we any news on when the set will be released/revealed? Quote
deskp Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Have we any news on when the set will be released/revealed? Relased in the fall. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Relased in the fall. Oh, so we have to wait for another six months.....oh, well......it will be worth it. Quote
SMC Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Relased in the fall. Where did we hear this? Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Oh, so we have to wait for another six months.....oh, well......it will be worth it. Yeah. Although, LEGO and the series all at once? Why couldn't they spread it out? Now we have this: Jan: Nothing. Feb: Nothing. March: Nothing. April: Nothing. May: Some stuff announced. June: More of the above. July: Ditto. You get this picture. Then we get all the goodness at once, but nothing for the rest of the year! Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Yeah. Well, assuming that's the case (which we don't know for certain yet), it could well be because this is still the Ideas line, and has to be fit around all their other scheduled lines, which are planned much further in advance and which take up most of their production capacity. tafkatb Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I suspect any official reveal will be at SDCC at the soonest. Quote

Toa of Gallifrey Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 It'd be hilarious to get a Five-Ish Doctors Reboot set with minifigs of Davison, C. Baker and McCoy covered by tarps. XD Quote

Legoman123 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 How many Doctors do you guys think we will get then? I'm personally hoping for at least two. Quote
jonwil Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I for one hope they include a Dalek in the set, its probably the most iconic bad guy of them all. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 How many Doctors do you guys think we will get then? I'm personally hoping for at least two. No sir! All Thirteen! But honestly, just 2, 3 at most seems likely. Sadly. I'd guess Tom Baker (4) and Peter Capaldi (12), with David Tennant (10) if they opted for 3. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Since they like to try to stick to the core concepts of the proposal projects that people vote for, even if they change the construction details, I imagine they'll do two, since that's what Andrew Clarke suggested - one 'Classic' (probably Tom Baker), and one 'NuWho' (probably either Tennant or Capaldi). The BBC's teaser image certainly strongly suggests Capaldi's Doctor will be in the set, of course, but nothing's official until it's official. Edited March 5, 2015 by Blondie-Wan Quote
