Received an e-mail from lego/service telling me that the "Rework bag, 21303" is on the way and should reach me in 7/10 days :classic: .

I got the same email too! Can't wait.

Received the supplement pack today.

Contains the instructions 6162843 for the fix, a small instruction sheet on how to remove the head 6162845, and the parts needed for the 'fix'.

Called customer service 7 days ago - so pretty fast delivery!

Also received the email last night about the rework bag sent and I should contact them back if I don't receive it within 7 to 10 days.

What initial reluctance?

It took LEGO a noticeably long time to fix the true issue with WALL-E's neck, with another issue being fixed prior, and it seeming like the larger one would never be fixed.

This is a set I've wanted for a month or so but have held off because of this defect. Is the reworked neck fix going to be included in new shipments?

Sets currently available at S@H and Lego Stores are new version with new neck parts. The set was fully reworked so new parts are integrated into normal parts bags and new complete version of instruction booklet was printed. But if you buy from other sources it is hard to predict what you could get...

But that doesn't mean they were reluctant to do so. The word "reluctance" implies that Lego were unwilling or resentful in providing an alternative solution to the neck piece - which we know was not the case, I imagine Lego realised the problem as soon as reviews started hitting in, however Lego obviously had other things to focus on (Force Friday), hence why there was a slight delay. All in all, there was no initial reluctance is what I'm trying to say.

You call that a long time? The set hasn't even been out a long time - it's still new, and the issue was acknowledged virtually immediately.

Received my rework bag today. That was quick, not even 24 hours after the email :)

Apart from the instructions and pieces, it came with a letter explaining that they include the replacement pieces for my Wall-E 21303.

Then they say that if my Wall-E has a head that moves too much I should contact support so that they would send me the pieces and instructions to fix it (wait, what? They just said that's what was included in the package).

And they conclude that I can follow the instructions provided to build or fix my Wall-E, or if I don't want to fix it I can just add the pieces to my collection (why would I have asked them for the replacement parts if I did not want to fix it?)

The whole letter written in French, with some grammar errors and sentences sounding a bit weird... I appreciate TLG's effort to provide localized support, but they could do with better translators.

Anyway, the instructions are easy to follow and the fix was quickly applied. My Wall·E can finally gaze at the stars without worrying that his head's weight will actually make him stare at the ground :)

Wow. I contacted customer support through the website last week, and got a message that I'm on the list and they expect to ship out the parts pack in January.

That's fine with me, I have no complaints about the time, I'm just "wow"-ing that some people got it already.

The head moving too much was an early problem only affecting North American kits. The click hinge parts did not have enough clutch so the neck would flop down. That would cause the head to turn around and the whole head assembly to violently hit the back of the body. So much that some bricks on the top back of my Wall E cracked. I called LEGO and got the replacement hinges. When I mentioned the cracked bricks, they sent me replacements.

A few days ago I received an email from LEGO that they were sending me the rework kit. I had not contacted them yet about this, figuring I'd take care of it after the holidays. So the part about putting the parts in my collection if I didn't want to change my Wall E applied perfectly to me. I used them though so now my Wall E is top shape.

Here in Quebec, Canada I received an english/french letter with it mais la partie en français ne me semblait pas mal composée.

I received my service pack yesterday and installed the pieces last night. The previous design was very annoying because I would constantly find WALL-E's head flopped backwards even minutes after posing him on my desk due to any small vibration from walking or the local trains.

So... LEGO sent me another service pack

More free bricks then :)

I built Wall-E last night. The service pack's instructions were placed directly above the rest of the sets bricks, along with the extra bag of bricks. So with that all the pieces needed to build Wall-E the original way are still intact in the set itself, along with the service pack.
