Hello people,

Here's me again with a maybe stupid question, but I just don't roam the entire forum, because I am only interested in Technic.

But what is the length of a stud?

Thaks, so if I am right, a stud is 7,8 mm long, but 2 studs is 15,8 mm.

I am still a little confused, even with the picture that D3K posted.

My understanding of the system (I may be wrong):

The base dimension - P - is defined as 8 mm, and that is the distance between two studs/pinholes. The width of a brick (or liftarm, for that matter) is P-0,2 (i.e. 7,8 mm). This is to allow some "breathing space" between pieces, so they don't jam. :look:

So how does it translate to the precies length of say 10 studs, 20 studs, 30 studs....

number of studs * width of one stud - 0.2mm

for example, with p = the width of one stud = 8mm :

10 * p - 0.2mm = 79.8mm

20 * p - 0.2mm = 159.8mm

30 * p - 0.2mm = 239.8mm
