Which do you prefer? Old or "new" colors? I like the newer ones better but I want peoples' opinions although I am sure there have been things like these. I wouldn't have cared if they never changed it., better if it always was bley.

Duck little dude. I have a feeling there may be some rocks being hurled your way.

I respect the fact that you like the newer grey. I imagine you are younger so you probably don't have a lifetime collection of old gray. I prefer old gray, I can't drudge up the emotion that came when they switched brown and grey to frown and bley. It really pissed a lot of people off. All I will say is I still wish it were just old grey.

This is a dangerous topic that people still get emotional about so beware!! 8-|

Ain't it the truth.

I also hate bley 'cause I'm color blind. Its hard to tell the difference. Also, when you put bley next to the old school gray, the old gray looks faded. And what's the deal with 'reddish brown'? :-X

I gotta go with grey. I like to have lots of colors to choose from, so I'm not against introducing new colors, but in this case I don't want the new color at the expense of the old one. If it is cost-prohibitive to produce and use both old grey and bley at the same time, I'd rather just have the older grey.

Oddly, this issue never has bothered me, but it is probably because I never had that much of the old grey anyway. (Most of it is really old as well.) I like the bley for space craft and I also like the new brown. I'm in trouble aren't I?

I think the colours are cheaper to make. Anyone know otherwise?

OMG! >:-(

Seriously? This is a question?

The switch from Gray to Bley has been a disaster for me. I've pretty much abandoned Castle theme buying because of it. :-X

Sure, the modern castles suck (KK and beyond), and frankly I don't think this year's versions are much better, only the minifigs are. But I could have at least justified buying them for parts.

But why the eff-you-see-clay would I want to buy a bunch of bley parts that will only go into the filler bin?

I used to buy multiples of every castle, now I just buy one each of the large or medium sets just for the "collection". Frankly, I have not bought a single castle this year, and probably won't unless they go on 50% off.

The gray=bley fiasco is the worst mistake TLC has ever made in marketing their product to AFOLs.

How's that for an unopinionated opinion?

Next, lets get going on the loss of real brown from the pallete. ^!@^%! Arguably even a more devastating colour change, it's just that we use more gray than brown, so the impact is not as obvious. But seriously, we no longer have a true brown in the pallete. Retarded!!!

Bley...and rown (it's rown, hinckley, red+brown :-| ) were the worst thing to happen to colors in awhile. Why? Let's take a look:

Old grey worked great as both metal for space, and stone for castle. Bley? It's too blue...it can't possibly past for anything other than metal. Shiny metal at that, not just normal metal, so GOODBYE worn, used look!). It's a disaster for anything stone-related, or anything where you want a worn look for space...

Rown? what the hell is it supposed to look like? It's too red for wood. It's too brown for rust. It really is the most useless color I've ever seen. I honestly have no idea what to use it for! It's even too red for CLAY, it's just unnatural.

I think the problem there was that Lego simply didn't care about the AFOL factor at the time. :'-(

Perhaps this is one of those topics that shouldn't have been dredged up....

>:-( Hey! You say tomato, I say tomato, you say rown, I say shut your face! >:-(

Frown is ten times a better term than rown. Rown? Who says rown? Sounds like a parasite. I went swimming in the ocean and I got a rown. *wacko* "red + brown = rown" *wacko* No, it doesn't.

Brown - r = rown. red+brown=rerown. *wacko* <-- that's what your face looks like when you say rown. Rown |-/ Don't let you choose the terms. Rown. |-/ Rown. I can't stop saying it, I hate it so muchrown |-/

:-P :-D :-D :-D :-D

That was an elaborate and over-the-top joke, kids. I don't hate SW4J, I love him! *wub* I hate the term rown though, boo! rownboowhatthehell?

Man, I hate the color change! >:-(

:'-( Oh, I'm sorry. I've gone too far. :'-( :'-( :'-( See Grand Moff V, what happens when you bring up the color change? It's torn me and SW4J apart. *sing* *sing* *sing*

Now I have to give him half of my stuff... |-/

seriously, rown?

Yes, rown >:-( I'm sorry if the word rown is so far above you but it makes more sense :-| I mean it's reddish brown, and I don't think bred will work :-|

And half your stuff? You act as if any of it was yours in the first place...don't think I don't know what's been going on with you and Sinner :'-(

I like bred! X-D It's funny to imagine frowny bread. Why is the bread frowning? Because of the Reddish Brown! It's frown bred! :-D :-D :-D

Awww...don't start this again. He understands me, okay?

At risk of being paddled, eaten by a monster, or worse, I prefer "Frown". I just find it funnier.

See? :-P

I would like to add my input to this forum. I definitly like the old grey better. But I also like the dark grey as well. But the new bluish-grey just drives me insane. I am currently working on a MOC and needed dark grey. I had to definitly look over my parts under major lighting to tell the difference. This drove me NUTS. I would have to give TLC two *n* down for this move. They definitly needed to keep the old grey and only release the dark grey. Hopefully I will find a use for the bluish-grey. Right now I use it for engines or objects that are not seen much. MODEL ON!!

I like the older parts better as well. When I MOC and my parts get mixed, I have mixed brown colors and/or mixed gray colors... And I really hate it when that happens. The older parts are more natural too, I think.

Honestly, for many of us, it doesn't matter which colour you prefer. The change was devestating and the damage has still not been undone. Its as simple as that.

I have a HUGE assortment of old grey. For me, new grey bricks (not minifigs) are essentially a cancer that must be purged from my bins. I don't use it, and have no interest in it. For newer fans, this is simply not an issue. YOU don't have thousands of dollars invested in old grey. If you did, you would appreciate that it isn't simply a matter of switching over. I can't suddenly turn buckets and buckets of bricks into new grey.

More succinctly than I can say it, but this is just how I feel.

i always liked the limited pallet of colors that LEGO used, and this slight change in grays and browns just has me baffled. it just doesn't seem like my traditional LEGO product to have slight variations of colors... when i learned LEGO did this, apart of me felt like my LEGO company was lost.

i do think the older colors had more applications... the new brown is really sickly.

Well I normally build with black. Not much to change with black. or at least, i don't think there is :-|
lets just hope LEGO doesn't change the color of black... right now the official chart says the black is C:60, M:0, Y:0, K:100. in whatever case, i think black is a staple colors for all themes and styles of building, it would be a really shame to see more than one variation.

it is possible i might loose all faith in the company at that point.
