Rarity! Just stick with what you have people!

Finally, GMV speaks sense. Bravo!

And yes Steve the Pirate, now to be referred to as STP, was a schizophrenic dude who thought he was a pirate in Dodgeball.

X-D :-D (I *wub* pirates emoticons)

I thought the Imperial Soldier Governor was the rarest! :'-(

(Since he is only in two sets from the first pirate year (1989), and is $14+ USD on bricklink)

He also has the best hat!!!!!

imperialsoldiers_02.jpg ON!

I never realised he was rare! I had two of him! Damnit, where did I put them...

Was there a variant with white hands? I'm looking at the set on Lugnut and I don't see it:

http://guide.lugnet.com/set/?q=6281_1&v=z

Actually, this appears to be a BL failure. This minifig with white hands was catalogued and addressed to the 6281 Pirates Perilous Pitfall set. Someone must have found a used copy of the set with the minifig included not knowing that someone had switched the original yellow hands for white ones and added it to the BL catalog under the impression that the fig was right the way it was.

I checked my sealed 6281 copy ( :-P ) this morning and he appeared not to be there (I did find the green shirt with yellow hands of course), so the white hands are my mistake, however based on the BL catalog.

I hope someone can correct this on BL. 8-|

Woodhouse :capn:

So Admiral Woodhouse is the Guard's leader, and Governor Broadside is the Soldier's leader. Hmmm. I never knew that, thanks!

This one is rare.

That's not a mini-fig!

:-D

I'd say the blue admiral is the rarest

don't own any 4+ pirates but of all the rare contestants discussed so far i have only one of each

Hmm. I just bought Eldorado's Fortress AND Caribbean Clipper. I paid $118 for EF and $67 for CC. Is that cheap?

I also just picked up 2 soldier governor torsos for $3.00 each and 3 admiral hats for $3 each. Is that a good price?

I got Eldorado fortress in box, without instructions, in very very good state (almost new) for...

50

What are those called if they are not minifigures? Just figures? Geezzzz, now that I look, TLC must have been Jack Stoned to make that pirate line!! :-D

(And Tanotrooper, mine came with instructions in awesome condition. I don't know what 50 euros is in USD. And when I get my CC in I will have all in all 5 governor torsos! Yay!!!)

I just call them junk.

I bought one once off BL and ripped it into pieces to see if you could still use the head with lego bricks when it's ripped off the torso :skel1:

:-D Jack Stoned :-D LOL

Junk sounds good. I've dismembered them too. Why? I have no idea, they were takin' up space, I guess! :-D

And they were Jack Stoned!

I dont think they got to England to be honest. If they did, we burnt them or sunk them. But I never saw them on sale here.

Lucky. They took up shelf space were I live!

1. It is true that he was available in 1989 and probably the first couple years of the 1990s and that he only came in 2 sets with different plumes (red in Eldorado Fortress and yellow in Caribbean Clipper).

2. It is a fact he is rarer than the regular blue coats.

3. The $14 price might not have to do with rarity alone but reflects desirability as well. 8-o

4. He has a nice hat... providing that it is not faded or heavily used, that is a bad side effect of the black print on a white hat, it easily wears off. :-/

But he is not that rare, I mean, I own between 10 - 15 of the blue governor torsos and perhaps even more. I find it much harder to find a "Steve" and a Mr. Anchor Tattoo for that matter.

Current BL situation (at the time of writing which is August 4):

- 7 anchor tattoo guys (3 with black bandana and grey legs, 4 with red bandana and blue legs) and 4 loose torsos;

- 16 "Steve" guys (7 with brown tricorne and blue legs, 9 with black tricorne and grey legs) and only 2 loose torsos ($8.50 each!);

- 22 governors (13 with yellow plume and 9 with red plume) and 8 loose torsos.

Of course, this might change if any of you intend to grab some of those pieces... X-D

I dont think they got to England to be honest. If they did, we burnt them or sunk them. But I never saw them on sale here.

I got mine cheap. The hulls aren't that bad but the figures are.

Well see, I don't want to buy any peices from other countries. I live in the U.S., and those goveronr torsos are rare. I bought the only ones in the U.S., so they are rarer for me than they are for you. It really depends on location, I guess. (Same with the admiral bicornes)

Well, at least they are available to the community and most BL sellers do sell worldwide so if you need more of those, why not buy from other countries? I do not care, sometimes it is quite cheap to ship pieces from Europe to the US and vice versa, only a couple dollars will do it. I have done many overseas transactions and so far everything arrived and nothing went lost in the mail.

Also, both Eldorado Fortress and Caribbean Clipper were sold in the US so the figs were available to American customers as well. For us Europeans however it is sometimes difficult to acquire sets that were only available in the States, to mention are 6071 Forestmen's Crossing, 1729 Barnacle Bay, 6249 Pirates Ambush and 6281 Pirates Perilous Pitfall to name a few.

I agree, many overseas items are great, and sometimes they are even cheaper, but it is just easier to only purchase in the u.s.
