"I already lost my life. It wasn't too bad." She turns to Kiray with a blank smile. "He's a bit of a stickler, isn't he?"

"I'll take it that wasn't meant as a complement," I mutter to no one in particular while chipping away at the angels.

"Though I suppose that is one of the reasons I quit paladin," I mumble to Kiray. "It's great for protection, but when you end up protecting a team that do nothing useful. Then it's a pain. If I were still a paladin, we would be getting nothing done here probably because the angels are all for peace and protection and that stuff, but they don't help too much in actually defeating the darkness."

The heroes continue to have rotten luck. Samuel is able to summon back his angel, but as he does the Angel of the West sweeps forward and passes through Yu Shu, possessing her for a brief moment. She twirls her weapon wildly, lethally wounding Avery and Kiray, knocking both of them out. The two paladins and Prtzel stand strong and behind the safety of the guardian angel, but Oko steps near the shredded shimmering remains of the Guardian Angel of the North and pours a phoenix essence on them, and one of the heroes' vanquished foes returns to the battle.
