Paul Boratko Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) Since the other thread got locked, I will present these models in this new thread. I always wanted to do a Police style car so this seemed like a great opportunity to do a proper Yin & Yang take on the same vehicle... Both models feature many new 2015 parts including the new driving rings and gears in my first ever linkage style gear shifter... The black one does use some parts that are either impossible to find(19L black flexible axles) or other parts(like the 9L and 11L orange liftarms) that are very expensive... I am going to try and figure out a way to properly work around the flex axles and incorporate 16L ones, but the best presentation seems to be the 19L ones... I think with the release of the 42043 and the new white micro panels, this car can easily be done in all white, or a combination of white and another color since now the 19L flexible axles in white are abundant.. Alasdair Ryan Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I am pleased to see someone make a car that is not just plain red, yellow, black or white but instead combining colors. Quote
Rishab N Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Just realized how you subtlety angled the hood a bit inwards which is very clever. The black also looks great. Maybe black and yellow/white could work around the orange problems Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 When I was designing these I kept you in mind.. I was thinking the same thing. You should consider a convertible version that uses that convertible roof idea I sent you a while ago. Quote
Osuharding1 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Both renditions look great! I agree that it is so refreshing to see a multicolor model. I'd like to build both but I think I will start with the blue/white PD Special first. Quote
rumpletump Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I like them both very much.. The black and orange looks awesome Was the putting the gearbox in the rear inspired at all by the 2015 concept chassis of NK? Quote
Paul Boratko Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 I like them both very much.. The black and orange looks awesome Was the putting the gearbox in the rear inspired at all by the 2015 concept chassis of NK? It was kind of a combination of knowing about how much better the new driving rings were going to be along with the early pics that he shared with me... I had toyed around with linkage gearboxes in the past, but due to the fact that I hated how finicky and inconsistent the older driving rings were, I abandoned them... Many people have done linkage style gearboxes in the past with gearbox placement in the rear, but with the new parts, I feel that they can now be designed to perform more consistently... Nate's gearbox is very unique because it is actually vertical rather than done the standard way... By the way, I have seen Nathanael's current status on his new car and can confirm that it is pretty special... As expected, he did an amazing job with it.. Quote
dougstar Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) wow the black looks awesome!!! will you make instructions for the black model? im looking forward to Nathanael's new model!!! please keep us updated Edited February 12, 2015 by dougstar Quote
5imon Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Cool! Another great car on my "must build" list. The remote gearbox is superb – finally the end of clumsy central consoles full of gears... Quote
jantjeuh Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 The black/orange version looks awesome, that's the one I'm going to be building Good thing I already ordered several 9L orange liftarms for Han's crawler crane Quote
Milan Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 It has very angry-looking front part :) Awesome car and gearbox! Quote
JamesJT Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Fantasic combination of curves and angles. Looks great form any viewing position and looks fast while standing still. The remote gearbox linkage is the icing on the cake. IMHO it is your best work yet. Why don't TLG get you to design their next proper supercar? Quote
Omikron Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) Those lines look fantastic! The shifting is awesome Edited February 12, 2015 by Omikron Quote

darksheep Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Really love the car , think I will do a red and white version So blue will become red and white will stay the same . When will you put out instructions for this ? Quote
Eraman Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 This car is really cooool, i like it! Can we get a video? Quote

As soon as he is ready, I will make a new thread for it... This car is really cooool, i like it! Can we get a video? As soon as we get a break in the weather I will get a vid together.. I need the natural light and it is very cold outside right now... Quote
Rockbrick Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 There I was thinking someone had done a lego technic version of the FIAT X19 (actually Bertone) the black and orange colour scheme is delightful...! Quote
Balrog Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I think I don't have to say how I like this pair or what I think about it ;) Quote
5imon Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Really love the car , think I will do a red and white version So blue will become red and white will stay the same . I think I might go for orange/white, so blue becomes orange. This matches my personal taste as well as the color scheme of Swiss police cars. Let's hope it doesn't become too difficult with the available parts in orange. Or else I might try black/orange with a bit less black... There I was thinking someone had done a lego technic version of the FIAT X19 (actually Bertone) Funny, I was thinking the same after skimming over the title. Would love to see this, but Paul's supercars are very cool, too! ;-) Quote
Meatman Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Wow. That black car is very stunning, especially from the rear. The chassis build also looks very clean. That cop car is just way cool and looks fantastic. I like how this shifts too. I seen the video on your facebook page with the sound. Love to hear that snap. Quote
Lucio Switch Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Both awesome, great MOC! But if I have to choose, I prefer the black and orange one! Just one question, why "X19"? Quote
Paul Boratko Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) Both awesome, great MOC! But if I have to choose, I prefer the black and orange one! Just one question, why "X19"? "X" just sounds mysterious and "19" is the day I was born on... So I went with X Nineteen... There I was thinking someone had done a lego technic version of the FIAT X19 (actually Bertone) the black and orange colour scheme is delightful...! That is actually X1/9 (X One-Nine) I maybe should have used a hyphen in the number like this X-19 for X-Nineteen... Edited February 12, 2015 by Paul Boratko Quote
Kronos Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Hey Paul, As I've already said, great work again. I'm curious what part you used for the headlights, though. Mike Quote
