I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but the goat is still a mystery to me.

When they do a new mold, they usually use it a lot, that is, mostly if the mold is interesting and has several uses.

To me, the goat which appears just in 7189 Mill Village Raid, and is sold at paces like >15€ on bricklink, is still a mystery, because I found it very useful and interesting, and while the chicken has been used again, the goat hasn't.

So, what do you think about this?

Um... I don't think about these things.

Which set do you think it should have appeared in? The chicken has been used as a weather vane (in silver) and in white in a couple of sets, but I don't think the goat would really have fit into those ones.

Maybe if they do a proper farm set again, it will re-appear.

This sounds like an EB contest in the making - pick a set released since Mill Village Raid came out, and add goats; which set would benefit most from their inclusion?

Not unusual at all. A lot of the animal molds were just used once or twice. Camel, ant, ostrich, cow, elephant, There are a crazy number of Scala/Belville/Friends dogs and cats and horses that only appeared once. Heck, even the dinosaur molds were barely re-used.

Now I want a goat.

Perhaps they will revisit the goat again aftey they chickened out.

I'd say they should have a go at it.

Perhaps it is a relatively fairly expensive piece to make and that is the reason it has not appeared after the Mill Village raid. Keep in mind that that set is one of only a few civilian castle sets Lego has made. Unfortunately, probably for good reason. possibly they included the goat in the first place as an extra pull for the set. I do hope we will see the goat in a set again!

It does seem a little odd to me that the goat was a one hit wonder. It's true that there have been plenty of other animals over time that were only in a set or two, but the goat still seems a little odd since it wasn't in a Licensed theme and it could easily fit in other sets. If we look at other animals of recent times that weren't created for Licensed themes, all of them have been used a little more: the cow, pig, and chicken moulds have appeared in a few things, and have even seemed shoehorned in. The latest freight train didn't need to have a cow, The Burrow didn't need to have a pig, Rescue Reinforcements from the LEGO Movie didn't need to exist at all. Just as those sets have made a place for some animals, the goat could have been used as well.

I definitely hope the goat appears again - he's a cut little guy.

I collect the moulded animals, however the goat is just one which I have just missed the boat on and I kick myself for not buying it back in 2013 when they were just £4 a pop. My excuse was that they were too expensive at the time. But now I wished I had bought even one given current prices.

But since the mould was only used for one set, I think we could see the mould appear again in future. It's not impossible, the minifig-eating shark mould was last used in 2009 and yet I think it's coming back in Pirates and definitely coming back in Ultra Agents, and the goat mould is definitely younger than that. Even the Dino 2012 moulds are being reused for Jurassic World. Maybe City will revisit the Farm theme possibly (or we get a brand new Farm theme) and we'll see it appear again there if anything. Other one-time moulds like the camel and ostrich (as somebody mentioned) probably won't come back given that they probably can't be used in as many settings as the goat can potentially be used in (and were created for a licensed theme).

I don't think it matters if a part was created for a licensed them, so long as it is generic and not tied to that theme. So, for example,

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=92746&in=M

this hair was created for Luke but later appeared, even in the same colour, in city sets.

So long as there is nothing about the part that is not tied to the license, it seems OK. Even the lightsaber hilt (which has a strong link to SW) gets used in many other sets.

The goat if definetely my favourite Lego animal ever made. Glad I have it although I'd much rather have a whole herd of it. Strange it never appeared in the hobbit sets though.

I would love to have a Lego goat and I, too, am sad that it hasn't been included in more sets. If they do a Castle 2016 series, having a farming or village area would be a great opportunity for goats and cows and chickens and things. :D

Perhaps one will show up in a Jurassic World/Park set... :P

Funny, I used my two goats yesterday in a little MOC and I was wondering if I could have some more. And now, I want cows

It could be useful indeed if they do the Jurassic Park set with the Ford Explorer that got 10k votes on Ideas

The Goat is a mysterious beast and thus too elusive for later sets.

Any realistic re-creation of a castle under siege needs a bunch of livestock in the bailey. Surely, the castle theme NEEDS goats.

2015 is the year of the goat on the Chinese zodiac so if we don't see it soon I doubt we'll ever see it.

I collect the moulded animals

I'm curious where you draw the line. If an animal has multiple parts like a shark or a horse, do you not collect it?

Sorry I don't check this forum all that often. I use the term "moulded animal" rather loosely to indicate any animal that is either one piece or is made up of mutiple moulds which are specific to the animal. So yeah I collect the sharks, horses, right up to the big ones like dinosaurs and dragons (the Fantasy Era dragons and Smaug are the limit of what I would consider a moulded animal). Basically it stops before it becomes entirely brick-built (though even that goes out of the window as far as dragons are concerned).

Not quite sure what this has got to do wiith goats though, [made-up theory] but maybe there's a theory that they were supposed to be included in Castle sets with dragons in (as food), but they come already "eaten" by the dragon, hence no goats appeared in those sets[/made-up theory]

Maybe a cleverly crafted Ideas set could call the magical goats back to us?

PS. Is that a goat icon/badge you are wearing? Are you secretly one of them?!?

I've never seen this piece before.... and I want it. :dblush:

Keep an eye out. It'll probably appear again. I've noticed quite a few pieces from the 90s have started to re-surface in recent sets, so I wouldn't put it past LEGO to make more of these amazing guys.

On the internet, nobody knows that you are a goat.

-shifty eyes- *bleat*

Maybe someone could propose a nice new Farm set. It has been a while since we got Tractors and suchlike.

I had never heard or seen a Lego goat before and I would like to have one. Then again I would like to have one of the other animals I missed out of.
