TheOneVeyronian Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Skull Chiller, King of the Skull Army by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Skull Chiller, King of the Skull Army by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Skull Chiller, King of the Skull Army by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Skull Chiller, King of the Skull Army by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I really wanted to do my own Skull Villain (my skeleton MOC doesn't really count) complete with gearbox, so I decided to create Skull Chiller, the ultimate Skull Warrior, featuring 4 arms (which are all geared up to a gearbox so they all move when gearbox is used) and a general "armoured ice skeleton" theme. It's not really supposed to be zombified, but rather be an elegant but deadly undead warrior Be sure to click on the photos to view the large version (16 megapixels) And, in case anybody asks, that flat silver chest is a wiped Lewa Master of Jungle chest (I bought a spare one for the purpose, so don't worry I didn't mutilate my Lewa!). Positive and constructive comments are more than welcome, and I can probably provide a dissection of Skull Chiller should anybody ask for it. It's a little fragile though wth the rib bones which is why one of them appears to be missing in the last photo (it's there though) Quote
Timeline15 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 very cool (no pun intended). Love the ribcage design, and the colour scheme. manages to look skeletal without looking "bare bones", unlike the actual summer Bionicle sets. My one complaint is that it looks a bit busy. I know that's a vague criticism, but maybe try and use multiple of the same piece for the wings instead of different kinds, and make them and the weapons a little smaller. Quote
Tanaku2010 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 The only changes I would make is changing the ribs to white. Overall this MOC looks nice. And, in case anybody asks, that flat silver chest is a wiped Lewa Master of Jungle chest (I bought a spare one for the purpose, so don't worry I didn't mutilate my Lewa!).= I'm curious, what method did you use? I ordered a couple through Bricklink over the weekend (Silver and Gold) and I planned on using Brasso, as I've seen done with minifigs. Quote
Logan McOwen Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) I'm curious, what method did you use? I ordered a couple through Bricklink over the weekend (Silver and Gold) and I planned on using Brasso, as I've seen done with minifigs. The plastic used in these chestplates is somewhat softer than standard ABS, so I'd be very careful with chemicals. I cleaned all but one of the Gunmetal chestplates from my Chima sets with nothing but a good ol' fashioned pencil eraser. It took a while, and much rubber was spilled, but it worked wonders - it's almost as if they never had prints! Edited February 18, 2015 by LewiMOC Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Sorry I didn't get back to this topic earlier! I didn't use Brasso to wipe the torso, but rather used a Magic Eraser on it which is mildly abrasive and takes the print off cleanly and doesn't leave anything noticeable. Pencil eraser takes a really long time and takes a lot of effort (plus I never have enough pencil eraser!). Can't recommend Magic Eraser enough. As for the business - I woud have used more Vardy wings if I had more - but I only had 2 so had to use other similar parts instead. Same with the weapons - I wanted to give him 4 swords but only had enough silver blades for two, so had to give him axes in two of his hands instead. Quote
Robin Creations Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 This is great! Look really cool (pun somewhat intended) and he looks well armored. Brick-on Quote
