Nice review for a really good model. But if you like this model then i strongly recommend you buying and building the 8674 Ferrari F1 racer - a quite similar model in the dimensions but with a quite different building experience - and IMHO and much better building experience - IMO the front suspension of the ferrari works much better and also the steering is way smoother... overall the Ferrari 8674 is by far my favorite F! model TLG has released...

If I will find the Ferrari 8674 at a decent price I will get it for sure. I looked at that model too and it looks great.

As for the sticker sheet, I am trying to print a scanned version that i found online, maybe that will work, if not ... i do not think the original ones are worth the money asked by people on BL.

This is the set that brought me out of my dark ages. I was in Hanover Germany for a summer assignment in 2006, and saw that set displayed along with the Mindstorms RCX at the Galeria Haupkaupf ... did not know you could build such large sets with lego. It was the first time I saw friction pins and understood then it is they that give the car its rigidity.

This review is brilliant. Would you be able to tell me how long the model is once built? I know the 8674 measures at 61cm. I have a display box which is 63.5cm internal length. Will this model fit in?  thanks for helping me.

Welcome to Eurobricks!  In general, please try not to re-open 2 year old topics to ask a new question.

8461 is 82 studs long, about the same size as 8674.

That is the nest strategy to solve sticker problem, just few things - need to find out which self-adhesive foil works good with LEGO parts and keep in mind that color should match as much as possible panels / parts on which it will be used. I has the same problem with Mercedes Benz logo, so I've ended cutting (additional) original Unimog U400 stickers (I've needed round sticker and not square one). I know that you have Baumax in Romania so perhaps ask there. I've bought relatively good foil in Bauhaus (in Croatia) which is basically the same company for some future projects because test prints looked very close match on LEGO part. Printed on HP Indigo digital press...

Hope this could help you a bit. BTW very nice review of a car that should be F1 world championship car that should enable Montoya to clinch deserved title...

Ups, now I realize topic is an older one, but perhaps my suggestion can help someone else... Sorry admins, my mistake :sadnew:

To add to the conversation, since i posted lasted i have finally parted out this set. I bought a second hand set and as usual with these old sets that use OLD Light Gray parts....there was alot of yellowing and exposure to sunlight. Seems to be a major issue with the old Light Gray parts...they look dirty and discoloured. I wanted to rebuild this set with as many brand new parts as possible.

To do this i made a creative choice, i decided to use the modern Light Bluish Gray parts instead of the old Light Gray colour, i even got the 4L Universal Joint in LBG brand new:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=9244c01&colorID=86&in=A

Also i got Part #2536 in LBG (second hand): https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=2536&colorID=86&in=A

Alas i was not able to find Part #3749 in LBG, so i decided to use Part #43093 in Blue instead:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3749&colorID=86&in=A

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=43093&colorID=7&in=A

I replaced the old Dark Gray with the newer DBG colour palete, i haven't built the set yet...its all parted out and in a bag, but i can finally have this set with some 97% brand new parts.

I got one for a pretty good deal, but it was in horrible shape. I am buying many replacement panels and parts. I also bought 3rd party stickers to replace the old ones(which are basically a pile of dust). It will be finished soon!
