Technic-Kobaltz Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Great work as always Edwin, sounds like you are going to have another busy year. Are you still sourcing all your parts through Bricklink or are you now able to get them directly from lego? Be sure to let me know if any of your custom sets become available to purchase as the Damen ASD Tug is. Oh and lastly I'm sure this thread will be revisited many times. All the best for your future endeavours. Edited March 5, 2015 by Technic-Kobaltz Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) I wanted thank all of you for the great and positive reactions . For some questions of you, yes i must still buy the most parts at BL and if the price is good than also from LEGO directly . In the late future i am also thinking to bring out mine own set, with instuctions, box and parts( please let me now what your favorite ship model it must will be). You got 3 choises: a tugboat ore a offshore vessel and the last choise is a superyacht. Two days ago i got send by post their last magazine from Damen Shipyard(unfortunately in Dutch) and the arikel goos over the chance insight their company. Damen shipyards already now's for their stock build ships and extreem fast delivery, have changed the company vision a bit, because off the ASD set i deliver from A to Z and the sucses of the LEGO® brand, that they now have incorparate it in one of their ship building(the FCS2610 and can build now by any shipyard in the world) and Damen deliver a complete instruction plan with it, just i ore LEGO do . It's great to see that a company that it's just a little bigger than LEGO it self can learn from that . Edited May 8, 2015 by VFracingteam Quote
grum64 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) ...Also later on this year he wand a monster scale model of one of his ships in the scale 1/20 with Sbricks, lights, engines, trusters, winches (all working) and a complete internor, that i can complete go mad with this build  Tonight i am a very hapy man Sounds like an amazing project Edwin. They've certainly got the best man for the job, your work is truly inspiring. I very much look forward to seeing it when it's finished. Happy Building ...In the late future i am also thinking the bring out mine own set, with instuctions, box and parts( please let me now what your favorite ship model it must will be). Edwin Korstanje Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 You forgot the 4th choice. An Oil Tanker The maximum of a real ship is 50 meters for the set, otherwise the scale will be to smal . So a oil tanker is way to big Grum64 . Quote

Technic-Kobaltz Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Offshore vessel for sure. A cable laying vessel would be my choice, looks cool and could pack a few functions in there. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) Offshore vessel for sure. A cable laying vessel would be my choice, looks cool and could pack a few functions in there. Thanks Technic-Kobaltz and great to see that your also a great fan of ships , but for a set to build a cable laying vessel is superB to design and build for a one of model . You know that the most cable laying vessels are more than 80 meters long and if you wish some functions and details it will be in LEGO in the smallest scale i wand build for a set 1/87 more than 91 cm and at least 10000 parts and think that nobody wand pays for that and for the instructions is way to big for the programs and renders . Edwin Korstanje Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Here is the first and also the last teaser of my first Superyacht i have build for the biggest Superyacht shipyard in the world. It's 110 studds long and around 13000 parts in it. For the rest of the photo's you must wait till the summer for the new Nostarch book from BricksonWheels and Legotrucks http://www.nostarch....goscalemodeling Edited September 17, 2015 by VFracingteam Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Holy ..... This is huge!!! For me it's my smallest big model , but to build so smooth and elagance for a superyacht is a complete mind change and also the building style. You're telling me that's LEGO?!?! Ssshhh don't tell anybody it's Playmobil  Edited March 14, 2015 by VFracingteam Quote
grum64 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 This is one of those very rare times when the word genius just isn't enough. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 Thanks all for the kind words . This project is the biggest challance i ever did. only in 2 months build a big scale model 1/53.3 and also designed a set of 548 parts, orderd, parted, building instructions and packed in sealed bags was a hell of a job, but the result is even for me stunning. To do this on time within budget. Also it's whas great to work with my buddy JunkstyleGio for making me the digtal instructions and renders for the set . The complete team of the shipyard and special the project manager whas a pleasure to work with and they got this project quit and nobody know of it and with the baptize party of the real ship the owner got the big model for a present from the yard and the CEO's, Architect and captain did not seen it, that the model is build from LEGO® and the project manager must said to them free times that it whas build from LEGO® before they see it. That gives me the most great feeling. Quote

D3K Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Wow! If When I can afford one of those, I'll easily hire you to recreate it in Lego! I'm pretty sure I can afford it when that time comes. For now I'll make do with my 22 ft trailerable sailboat with a big hole in its hull. Awesome work Edwin! Can not wait to see this in more detail!
