Posted February 21, 201510 yr I don't know anything about the Legend of Chima story, but as a collector of LEGO fantasy/mythology creatures I was thinking of getting Flinx's Ultimate Phoenix (70221). I was curious whether the phoenix is supposed to be a vehicle or a creature. Any idea?
February 21, 201510 yr It's neither. In the last episode, Flinx unlocks his true powers and creates a huge force-field of energy around himself in the shape of a phoenix and flies over Chima, melting all the ice and turning the Hunter tribes back to normal from their current,zombie-like state Here's a pic from what the set is based on from the show Edited February 21, 201510 yr by GoldenChi
February 22, 201510 yr ^yeesh, that looks horrifyingly... uninspired. I don't know anything about the Legend of Chima story, but as a collector of LEGO fantasy/mythology creatures I was thinking of getting Flinx's Ultimate Phoenix (70221). I was curious whether the phoenix is supposed to be a vehicle or a creature. Any idea? Seeing as the story-side has been explained, I can give you some details on the set itself. The play function is manually-operated, no mechanism. The phoenix itself is beautiful, but not undeserving of some modding. I would provide pics, but just yesterday mine hit the scrapyard upcoming MOC LEGO box.
February 24, 201510 yr Author So a magical emanation/conjuration? Thanks, GoldenChi. I didn't know that. It wouldn't actually have affected my purchasing decision but I'm glad it's not supposed to be a machine. Mandate, I agree that the phoenix is a brilliant representation of an avian form. I would go as far as to describe it as a work of art. I don't much care for the flick-fire missiles and will mod those out if/when I can get the set. If I do get it, it will go into my display collection which means it will stay there indefinitely. I'm curious what mods you did. Can you briefly describe them? I'm thinking of modding it myself, perhaps to make it more snotty. Amps Edited March 1, 20159 yr by AmperZand

I'm not sure what else could be done, aside from fixing some more issues with posing (eg, making the wings rely on balljoints rather than hinges) and smoothing out the shape of the main body.
February 25, 201510 yr ... If I do get it, it will go into my display collection which means it will stay there indefinitely. I'm curious what mods you did. ... Amps I have a copy of it (two, actually), and it's something I will keep on display for a very long time. I think it's a very well done model, and the big flame/wing pieces look great.
