Kumbbl Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 do not know... but i always wonder why people asking for video for non RC/non motorized models? what can you see at a video what pictures and text can't tell you? No video can show you this nifty gearbox (incl. selector), this marvel of a front-axle and the incredible good, clean and well thought out overall and detail design and part usage... and this design-quality makes this model really oustanding... just finished the front-axle and made so the chassis almost complete (page 40 of the BI) and i already dare making this judgement above. I agree with jantjeuh: it's easily the best and cleanest designed MOC i have ever built... or with other - more famous ;-) - words (Antoine de Saint-Exupery): "Il semble que la perfection soit atteinte non quand il n'y a plus rien à ajouter, mais quand il n'y a plus rien à retrancher." - Terre des Hommes, III: L'Avion, p. 60 (1939) Or in englisch: "It seems that perfection is reached not when there is nothing more to add , but when there is nothing left to subtract"... always when building a model of Nathanael this prudent saying comes into my mind.... Lipko Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 do not know... but i always wonder why people asking for video for non RC/non motorized models? what can you see at a video what pictures and text can't tell you? For example you can see if the chassis bends if the suspension is pushed, or if the doors are flimsy, body elements are touched by the steered wheel etc. I think I have to build this car too, this model is so highly spoken of, and I wonder how stiff can a chassis this optimized can be. Yes, maybe I am too anal about chassis stiffness. Quote
Blakbird Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Yes, maybe I am too anal about chassis stiffness. Anyone who has built your V12 coupe knows this! Quote
rumpletump Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 do not know... but i always wonder why people asking for video for non RC/non motorized models? what can you see at a video what pictures and text can't tell you? I would like to see the door lifting mechanism in action. I would like to see the model being spun around to view every angle. I would like to see the gearbox demonstrated even if it doesn't do it justice. Vampire GT on youtube has 64000 views. Sounds like plenty of people also appreciate a good video of a non motorized but awesome lego Cheers for the review Blackbird Quote
z3_2drive Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Anyone who's built the model already, do you have a set of 41999 wheels to put on this masterpiece? Curious if it would look good. Quote
750ACE Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 (edited) Are there close up pictures of the front axle? The front axle has been mentioned several times. Never mind found the moc review page. Edited April 10, 2015 by 750ACE Quote

Appie Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Yay, just recieved my last 3 bricklink orders to built this thing and got the instructions from Nathanaël Kuipers. Big thanks to Nathanaël Kuipers (of course), crowkillers for hosting the instructions, Blakbird and Anio for their great reviews. I already ordered stuff before these reviews were made, but I liked seeing the thing up close before I could build it myself Quote
bj51 Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I can't say i'm too hyped about this car. Most panel placements are great but some aren't, like that big bump at the front. The door opening/closing also seems very slow to operate, with those worm gears. And I seem to be the only one that find that vertical gearbox odd. It's very well put together and seems to work quite fine, but it seems to me that it's a gearbox for the sake of putting a gearbox, whatever the cost to the design. I don't know if I make myself clear. I like refined mechanisms in a Lego Technic model, but I also care about the way they're implemented, and in this aspect, this gearbox is off, to me. Quote

The car is something different from the norm. It showed some new things that had not been seen before. Sure some people may find some flaws, but I can say it is one of the most fun models that I have ever built. Is it the best supercar ever? I guess it depends on your tastes. It is definitely near the top of my list, if not at the top despite some issues I've had. Edited April 22, 2015 by Meatman Quote

filuS Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Very nice model, I like the color theme - nice refreshment from the usual red. It took me about two weeks to collect all the parts (well, except for two orange pieces which can be easily changed for black ones and it won't hurt the looks at all) and then 7-8 hours to build. I am still waiting for Orange Chrome wheels, I really hope it will looks as good as I am imagining it :) Unfortunately I must have done something wrong with the gearbox because no matter of the gear chosen, it always blocks the wheels after very short distance (the distance car can travel depends on the gear - some gears allow car to go up to 20cm before wheels get blocked, some only 5cm). However, when left on neutral, it works without problems. I don't really want to dismantle and built it again but it bugs the hell out of me that something does not work as it should :D Big thanks to Nathanaël for designing this awesome car, hopefully we will see something at least equally striking as this one some time in the future again. filuS Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 As I thought I made a mistake in one of the first steps and had to dismantle whole car in order to get to the core of transmission :) And when I rebuilt it back, few pieces were left on my table, so I forgot about few things this time :D But everything works now, everything is in place and car is sturdy, so I have no need to rebuild it once again. Also, today I finally received my custom Orange Chrome wheels, I think they look very good on this car :) Quote
M5Technic Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 im having a hard time with the orange and blue together but otherwise amazing!!! Quote
