Jurss Posted September 25, 2018 Author Posted September 25, 2018 Got a good steering geometry, also Ackermann But there's no more space for good placing of shock absorbers At the moment this is most acceptable composition Yes, this setup is just for some lightweight car. I'm not wanting to go too high with placing of shock absorbers. I have some idea, how to use also big shock absorbers, connecting them at the bottom on the wheel size, but is could not look good. Jurss Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 I was so excited about mini cooper, so I decided to build something like that Here is start In plan is also bigger technic version, for which I'm trying to arrange 5+R gearbox, low normal gearbox, 2WD, 4WD + 4WDlocked mode selector. Johnny1360 Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Interesting, more like a system build right? Will you implement some sort of steering? Quote
Jurss Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 Yes, it is system build, as mini 10242 also is system. No, no steering, that fake driveshaft is also just for better bottom look. I have now I plans to get also Caterham and F40, so it will be separate collection now. Quote
Jurss Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 You know, there is new SW movie In fact, I accidentaly returned to idea for this triangle type chassis. I think, now the concept is much better. more rigid. Some real model Now I need to add somewhere shock absorbers. But that will be after Christmas. And then I will need to create similar rear part ... and then connect them together. Merry Christmas! Quote
BusterHaus Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Nice geometry, I'm interested to see where this goes. Quote
Jurss Posted December 24, 2019 Author Posted December 24, 2019 I also still don't know where this will lead :) Quote
Jurss Posted February 15, 2020 Author Posted February 15, 2020 Trying to create same geometry for the rear. After long thinking, found how to fix rear wheels at needed angle, but there are issues connecting shafts to wheels, angle is too big. If I would get rid of differential, then I could move that axle position more to back. Or then I need to make rear part higher. OK, maybe need to think about U-joints, but then I need custom hubs for rear. Quote
Jurss Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 Somohow (for now) gave up to create rear with similar geometry, so built more classic rear suspension First try (fool me) wasn't succsessfull, as originally those motors spin the same direction, so car doesn't drive anywhere with default app for 42099. After some two hours I have this And then I somehow built this Quote
Jurss Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 Built 42009 from parts I own (some were bought just for this lately) At the moment lost also inspiration to continue with Renault 5 turbo rally. Also lot of yellow was used in 42009. But then there were those rumors about CAT D11T coming. So I have now WIP for something like that. Dedicated topic will follow. Quote
Jurss Posted May 3, 2021 Author Posted May 3, 2021 Building 8070 . Don't have those hubs, so need to rebuild it for those I have. I found some rebuild, but it looked, that for suspension won't work for it. Maybe just a littlebit. Rear I did like this I used 7L beams, as I'm planning to use Defender rims. Generally because of front, then also there suspension seems possible. Front is so far now. I have plan (who knows how it will go) to rebuild it later to some 2021 style, with frames, more paneling etc. I don't want to harm anyone feels :) Anyway, at the moment I'm also not shure about correct clearance, it could be more like the latest Ferrari from Lego. But then it will be already partially in 2021 style :D Quote
Jurss Posted May 9, 2021 Author Posted May 9, 2021 Finished everything. Some more pics of front rebuild. Maybe I need to make lxf? Quote
Jurss Posted September 18, 2022 Author Posted September 18, 2022 Built from parts I own 42114, then started to think, that I could try to build mini version. Just some beginning. Quote
Jurss Posted November 19, 2022 Author Posted November 19, 2022 Some cherrypicker or similar thing is in progress, as I wanted to put these tires to good use. Those supports (don't know if that is correct) was pretty long challenge, until I found, that this combination is just perfect (it seems so) Some steering racks in all combinations where too tight. Almost working, but too hard. Was not satisfied. Then I found, that these grey are littlebit lower (I don't use them everyday :) ). They engage really good. Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 That is a pretty cool outrigger system! Quote
Jurss Posted November 20, 2022 Author Posted November 20, 2022 13 hours ago, 2GodBDGlory said: outrigger Thank You! Crossbeams really help here. Yes, this would be possible with standard beams, but build would be more massive, I assume. And I was really stucked some hour with long steering racks, trying to find some good combination, until I "found" those grey parts in drawer with short beams :) Oh yes, outrigger. Didn't came to my mind yesterday, somehow. Will be building for front today, so will make also picture of the "inside". Quote
Jurss Posted November 20, 2022 Author Posted November 20, 2022 That is how it looks "inside" Upper gear is for movement, lower to hold it better in place. Only lower coub be enough, I think, but I needed "drive" axle higher. Process of designing On orginals each outriger would work separately, to be able to adjust to uneven ground. For Lego model I thought that it would be more interesting and better to operate all at once. Also some picture from process, where there is already working concept to operate both sides And then, I would say, final version I took some time to align all gears. I didn't thought, but I needed to also adjust each sides outriggers. By turning small 8T gear, there was also some slight difference. Quote
weavil Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 That's a really clever setup. How much weight do you think it will hold? Quote
Jurss Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 1 hour ago, weavil said: How much weight It could hold pretty lot. limiting part is 8T gear, I think, how much it could rise, and with connection to axle, how much that will twist. Quote
Jurss Posted November 26, 2022 Author Posted November 26, 2022 Rebuilt front. Changed to inline 4 fake engine. Cab will be like on eurotrucks. Somehow those motorcycle suspension arms fitted there well. That frame is base for riseable cabin. Quote

Jurss Posted December 17, 2022 Author Posted December 17, 2022 Don't know if progress, but had some time for this build Quote
Jurss Posted January 8, 2023 Author Posted January 8, 2023 This time is some progress Figured out good gearing for HOG steering. It was not straight forward If You see 5L beam just behind/under tan gers, then that is linkage to connect both sides After that continued with next technical challenge Will try pneumatics. Hopefully will have enough hoses Quote
