It looks good. But why isn't it painted red like bike paths are supposed to be?

Thanx Alois, i know, as a Dutchman i'm used to cycling on red painted bikepaths, but i wanted to keep it a bit more recognizable for non-Dutch! Besides that, i thought i might be a bit too distracting from the modular buildings. I'm now thinking of making some tiled parkinglots (Dark Bluish Grey with a white 'P' and white lines), but i'm not sure yet... I'm currently selling some sets, to make cash available so i can bricklink a few tiles. So that is why i'm selling 10 older Creatorset and the 6 Winter Village sets..

Looks great and works well with the pavement for the modulars.

Thank you.. sometimes i think it looks a bit boring to use the same colors, but on the other hand, the square should not get a crowdy look.. i had that in my former layout, so i want to give it space as well. And by using only a few colors it creates space...i think.. (I'm not an architect, it is just a thought of mine... )

LS, absolutely brilliant work on that square! It gives me some inspiration on one I will be setting up as soon as I have room.

Poisso, hope to see your square in the near future.. maybe you can borrow me some ideas when you show yours... I still need a statue, but i do not want the statue of Liberty and i'm also not charmed by a grey Knight-minifig as well... it is hard....

I would be very interested to know which sets and prices...any way you could PM me please ?

Also, i love your display, it's simply wonderful, and since copying is the best form of flattery, i might get inspired by your work to create something pretty for my town.

Best regards,

Bogdan

Love it; at first (well, being Dutch...), I thought about the bicycle path in a different colour as well, but the fact that you separated it with a dark red tile makes it work nicely in the complete picture.

A variant for the bicycle path might be sand red or something in flesh, but hey, try to get a few thousand tiles in those colours... :sceptic:

Love your work.

Keep clicking those bricks together!

PS Press down on the 1x6 LBG tile in front of the GE, please :classic:

Edit: Ah, I just noticed it's the base plate curving upwards.

The square I created before packing up and moving from the US to Germany used an all white minifig for the white fountain that had been created.

Thanx, there are indeed a lot of colors that willwork in this case.. For me this was the best choice! About pressing the 1x6 Light Bluish Grey Tile in the front of the GE..that is indeed the baseplate...i might stick a 1x6 tile on the spot where the GE meets the PS.....But what about the LBG cheese-piece on the right, on the facade of the first floor of that same GE?...haha. when you look thorough, you can even find more small failures.. I also saw the light of the parisien restaurant, under the awning, hanging not very straight.....will put it right tonight...haha!!! 19079302632_ba1f93deaf_c.jpg

An all white minifig might be a nice choice... Not sure if ti will be a statue..maybe a work of abstract art...

Even though I am a "non-Dutch", I have realized that bikepaths are painted red in some countries - or is it just in Holland? In Denmark bikepaths crossing a big conjunction are sometimes made blue. But to make it fit your square, I think it looks really good with just the red stripe. You still recognize the colour and what it stands for - and that it is a two-way bikepath.

The square itself is really beautiful. And very big *huh* but it fits well with your modular buildings. Are you planning some other things for the square? Public transport (tram/metro), newspaper stand or something third?

Thanx, i never thought of how other countries do colour their bikepaths... At this moment i am working on tiling another row of 4 baseplates 48x48 studs. I sold my winter village and took some cash to orde another 2500 tiles..... As i am having my holidays now, a lot of time is spent with my kids, so it will take another week or so before it is ready. After that i will add some smaller creations like a newspaperstand and so on. As i sold the winter village sets (6 sets), i also bricklinked about 32 new villagers for the square.... hope to show some pics soon!

In the UK bike paths are red too.

Anyway, whatever the colour it looks fantastic and has inspired me to add a car free space into my city, on a much, much, much smaller scale!

I am glad i inspired someone again! I love the feeling of having ideas and making plans that will look great. Next step is to bricklink everything and order it. Then it is again great when you receive the bricklinked bricks!

Hope to see your car free space soon....bigger does not always look better!

An idea for a statue could be using the fountain build from 10184 Town Plan as the base and adding a statue to the middle instead of the gold 2x2 gold bricks.

As a side note, using the "big" LEGO bricks from 76039 Ant-Man Final Battle makes for some fun public art.

Thanx for your idea, but i think a fountain like the one from 10184 would be too small! I think a statue or fountain like ornament is the first thing after i have expanded the square! I would also like to add a dutch type of fish selling stand...we call it a 'viskraam'. I have never seen one in Lego....so maybe someone has an idea?

Maybe you can try it to base on the ice-cream car from The Lego Movie?

Wout, thanks, that is a pretty good idea! I was always thinking of some kind of trailer, never of a vehicle like that ice cream car...i could download the instructions and make one in the traditional blue and white 'fishy' colours! I'll work this out and see if it fits the plan in my mind! :sweet:

The last days i added 2 out of 4 extra large baseplates (48x48) to the modular square.... Still a lot of tiling to go... trees have to be built and also the benches and flowers....19696010249_16f565559d_k.jpg
