Even in the far North of Mitgardia, midsummer is a time of green things and the flourishing of new life. That is the way the many bands of yeti have always remembered it, anyway. This year, however, something is different... where normally even their light summer coats are enough to keep them warm, these yeti of the Horned Mountain Tribe are finding themselves pierced by unusual winter winds, and not just the odd unseasonal gales that occur throughout the North on occasion. These winds are bitter cold, and bring snow that doesn't melt.

For time immemorial, all yeti have shunned the use of fire. The bravest of them consider it bad luck, but the average yeti hold fire in primordial terror. If there were anyone around to see it, the sight of yeti creating stoking a fire and examining the unmelting snow would be something not even the skalds would believe.

Eventually, even fire is not enough. The Horned Mountain Yeti, led by the elder Raimo, make their way to a known summer camp of the warg-hunting Wolf Tribe. They've recently had unusually good sport for the summer, a stroke of fortune they are disinclined to question because this year, there will be many hides and much trade with the humans.

The leader of this pack of hunters is Theud, who looks on the Horned Mountain Yeti as friends. Today he thinks they must be mad, though, as Raimo explains that they wish to trade for the hides of a great brown warg taken recently.

If yetis looking for animal hides wasn't strange enough, one of Raimo's band is carrying a torch. A torch! Were they mad?

But they are not mad. The yeti may not know what has changed in the North to bring on such unnatural cold that even they are humbled, but they do feel deep down that the North is no longer safe. No longer a land for Yeti, Wolf Tribe, or Humankind. They give Theud a sincere warning before they depart, wrapping the hides around themselves for warmth.

They travel South, where they have heard it is always warm even in winter. Along the way, Raimo's wife Heikki gives birth. The baby almost dies of the cold before Raimo manages to find a fur cap, which he liberates from the corpse of a frozen Mitgardian. Raimo does not know what killed him, but does not stick around to find out.

As a fan of a song of ice and fire, I am really looking forward to seeing what will be coming out of the north, and whether Mitgardia will be able to stop it! :cry_sad:

It should seem these times are troubled in Historica - civil wars, dwarves on the war path, new kings and armies in the south, the king gone... And now a strange cold coming in from the Frozen Beyond...

This story is getting me more and more excited for every hint you are releasing!

The yeti baby in the fur hat is such a nice detail :classic:

Oh dear. The civil war in Kaliphlin hasn't even really gotten underway yet, and there's already trouble brewing again in the North!

Very nice story, and great little builds. I'm a big fan of the yeti figure; nice to see them used.

Nice story and builds!

Thanks Mike!

Great use of that Orient Expedition hat!

Thanks. Not sure if it's a good thing the Yeti are becoming scavengers though...

Love the warg and the story and it`s concept is hilarious

Thanks Tomsche! I like its mix of humor (yeti making fire!?) and bleakness (being driven from home and forced to adapt).

Keep watching for builds with the logo on them. And yeah, it's an uncertain and tumultuous period for Historica definitely.

Very nice builds! Great story too!

Thanks LV.

Very nice details all around. I too am excited to see what's happening in Mitgardia.

Stay tuned!

Cool - Yetis that are cold... Strange things are happening!

Definitely.

Some weird stuff happening in the North! Glad you managed to get going again!

Thanks Kabel. I think your advice was good: a few small builds to perk me up again.

Great builds and story! I really like the snow and bases

Thanks!

Great story -- so ominous!

Really effective use of small builds to illustrate a bigger story.

I've been doing a lot of that lately. I have a ton of free time right now but no particularly urgent ideas for larger builds. Well... I have one but we'll see.

Thanks Marmot. Historica is a big place with lots going on. Nocturnus is STILL in the midst of a civil war! I think Avalonia is the only fully stable place right now.

I have been trying to figure out how to use these yetis in something since I got them!

Maybe Historica needs a night's watch of it's own.

I really enjoyed the story and the great use of parts, especially the chima head as yeti toddler.

Lovely build sir. Good to see non humans getting some spotlight.

Thanks. I like doing Nonhuman builds.

Great series of vignettes! The dark tan irregular bases with patches of snow look great

Excellent fig posing as well :classic:

Thanks!

Maybe they do. Maybe they do.

Good work mccoyed. A well-written story and it's good to hear of goings on outside of Kaliphlin, showing that life in Historica goes on regardless of the recent turmoil. The baby in the fur cap is very clever. Looking forward to more of this story!
