Of course, and I didn't mean to say that that was the case; just an illustration of a possible scenario in which the winner would be from a different faction than the winning faction. Obviously whether that happens or not is up to the judges and in this case they evidently thought that as a group U beat the DK, but as individuals, a DK entry was best in each case.

That does make senses. Thank you for pointing that out to those of us who are just too excited that their team won

I'm slightly confused on how cat A,B and D were decided. How is the winning faction decided if not by what faction the champion belongs to?

Also I think the percentage for Ulandus should be 40% if the faction winners are right.

Yes, I fixed that typo.

Each build was scored, highest score won. All build scores of the faction were averaged, highest adjusted average was the winning faction. I say adjusted average, because the HC actually had higher averages in all three categories, but because they had so few builds comparatively, they received a slight penalty.

@Lord Dan, because it could look like this: Masseditor has one really awesome entry for the DK, but that's the only DK entry. On the other hand, Ulandus has 7 mediocre entries. None of them can beat ME one on one, but of course, all of them together outweigh the DK influence. Anything else would be very obviously unfair.

@MKJ, see my answer above.

Congrats to the Category A, B, and D winners!

No winner for Category C?!? You mean I might as well as not have built?! :cry_sad::tongue:

For everyone but the HC, those were already announced -- didn't you win your faction, Third Centurion?

Can we hope to receive a tag?

In the works.

However, there was more than just ME's entry for B (like mine) so Desert King had both quality and some quantity.

True, but Ulandus had a slightly higher average in both categories.

IF there is, it is still you, since you edged out Jacob by 8 points.

Hm.. I'm glad that there's only an overall announcent of the winning team, because it was all about team effort. I just want to point out that, while the DK team had an advantage of quantity, the huge number of entries made it harder to gain individual points. So the points can only objectively depict the ranking within a team.

But in no way I want to question Kai's tremendous effort. It's just my opinion that cat C was all about team play and that was incredible fun, something totally new. We're all buddies now within team DK.

And I really like how the result came out. No firm decision, everything still uncertain and dangerous. That's very realistic, civil war means that even when the battles are over it leaves the people deeply divided. Much has changed, much is lost, that is a thrilling story line and I really enjoyed how we were able to influence it. E.g. the ban of first centurion, that's something the players could decide directly by literally fighting for/against it.

For future challenges I could imagine a smaller version of cat c, maybe as part of the prelude to gain some tactical advantages in terms of story for the main challenge. We should probably skip the possibility to choose new warzones and instead open four or five over a few weeks.

All in all, thank you again very very much for this challenging experience Ska!

Congratulations to the winners.

The political situation in Kaliphlin will be not easy now !

Ulandus partisans are not defeated : even without the first centurion they have still power !

And the Council could definitively gain enough influence to become an itching in the Desert King back...

What a realistic end for this civil war !

I agree with you Jacob Nion and as you I imagine some great future challenges to complete the situation ! The scars of the war will mark Kaliphlin for a long time I think.

Great job and a big bravo to SkaForHire for organising this !

"Loyal soldiers of the Pharaoh must return to Sultan's Gate and prepare for the next revealing of prophecy for the Great War. All Noble subjects of Kaliphlin who fought against the One True King shall be forgiven for their transgressions if they send a troop of warriors in time for the prophecy's revealing on December 1st. Those who do not send their good will, will be made to heel in good time."

I have some vague recollection of this being announced as a mini-challenge, but I can't find that now...?

I think it has more to do with the guild story going forward. It got me inspired, and I knocked out a small sandscape yesterday. I still have to build the horse cart and fill it out with some characters, but it got me back to wanting to build.

I am in agreement, that I thought Cat C was more of a group effort... so much was put into that by everyone, it was hard to say any one person was worth more than another... and that was one of the reasons for having personal ranking systems to complete for.

I agree, there are some changes I would make if we do this type of war again, but I don't think we will see it until the next book if we do so. I believe this book will end with the Nocturnus Civil War, and then there are some ideas brewing what is in store for the next chapter. We have a surprise interlude challenge coming up before that last book though, so be prepared! (No, unfortunately it is not a LOR / GOH crossover, those talks didn't seem to even begin)

I will make a more official announcement, but yes it is. It is our first post-challenge guild challenge. I am going to see about maybe attaching a small prize like a tag to the winning entry. Also, it does not have to be a sig-fig.

What a great wrap up to the challenge. Congrats to the winners, and as others have said, I like how the situation came out. It seems very realistic that no clear winner emerges from a civil war, and further, it opens up for a lot of storylines!

Thanks for all the great work, Ska! It has been very fun, but a bit exhausting too

It would definitely be fun to use the experience and learning here to run another cat. C type wargame at another time.

I think we will eventually, with some tweaks, and hopefully lieutenants from the beginning. ME and Garm were lifesavers, and I can't thank them enough.

Another time, it would probably be a good idea to divide the task on a full team - we don't want to end up burning your light in both ends!

Where has the victory parade challenge gone?

And I also have the question: Do we get a tag?

Victory parade was category D if I am not mistaken - and therefore won by de Gothia.

Mmmmm, tags...

Finally, the generals of the High Council forces have gone through the battlefield commissions of the civil war (was it really that "civil"? ) and decided which ones to confirm post war.

Ranks are awarded based on service record and prowess in battle, as well as guerilla attacks conducted and efforts made in repelling enemy attacks. Complaints may be directed at the High Council, although there is no guarantee of corrective action.

(I have the scorecard, and I am willing to make proper adjustments)

How did I beat out these guys? It couldn't have been my storytelling, could it? Or maybe they just competed in more crowded fields? That has to be it. GOH really got turned upside down there, didn't it? Now I feel like playing some music. Dancer in a Daydream by Ace of Bass. "What an odd situation."
