Challenge IV FACTION MINI CHALLENGE

To kick off Challenge 4, we will have a quick mini-challenge for each of the factions. The winner of the faction will have the right to call themselves a certain title (depending on faction). They also get to pick the location of a battle in Category C.

Deadline: before the end of Sunday March 22nd, anywhere in the world.

FACTION: Ulandus

CHALLENGE: The 13th Legion. If you read Bannihal’s Report, you may have noticed that there is a 13th legion of Ulandus, but it is brand new. Because of this, it has not earned its name or its colors yet.

Your challenge is to create this 13th legion, design a few of their uniforms, give it a backstory and show members of this legion performing a heroic feat that would gain them the attention of First Centurion. You also should pick the nickname the legion will be granted. (IE: The First legion wears red and its nickname is The Thousand Suns.). The only restriction is that you must use a color that is not currently used by one of the legions. The largest MOC for this quick challenge is 32x32 studs. But, besides minifigure only pictures / builds, you may have up to two MOCs to show the feat.

TITLE YOU CAN WIN: Exalted Centurion of Ulandus

FACTION: Desert King

CHALLENGE: Making War. The Desert King is in need of good lieutenants to run his war effort. Show your character (or the character you are using in this challenge) commanding a military action that would get the notice of your faction’s leader. You will probably need a unit under your command, so make sure that they look sharp! The largest MOC for this quick challenge is 32x32 studs. But, besides minifigure only pictures / builds, you may have up to two MOCs to show the feat.

TITLE YOU CAN WIN: Warlord of the North (or Northern Kaliphlin if you are not Kaliphlinite already)

FACTION: High Council

CHALLENGE: Protecting the Councilors. The High Council is busy in this time of war, and need help guarding their person at important meetings. One member is often designated the Lord Protector of the Council when the council is in session, but since Kyban Wh'Ali of Khar'dek, current Lord Protector, was injured, a new Lord Protector must be found. Task: Depict a scene where your character (or the character you are using in the challenge) and his/her men prevent an attack on the council in a random location (Must not be Petraea). It should be clear that they have either saved the lives of the councilors, or prevented a plot altogether. The largest MOC for this quick challenge is 32x32 studs. But, besides minifigure only pictures / builds, you may have up to two MOCs to show the feat.

TITLE YOU CAN WIN: High Lord of Kaliphlin (if you are not already one), Lord Protector of the Council if you are already part of Kaliphlin.

JUDGING: After the deadline I will compile the entries into a voting thread, and each faction will vote for their favorite entry. That winner will earn the title.

Are green and red the two already used colors for the Ulandians?

No, there are 10 legions, 9 current legions with assigned colors, and 3 retired / obliterated legions with colors. So the used colors are: Light Blue, Dark Blue, Green (as seen on the Salamanders), Red (As seen on the Thousand Suns). Dark Red, White, Purple, Orange, Black.

The three reitred legions were Yellow, Brown, and Dark Green. However, other than Brown (the Lost Legion) Ulandus might be willing to reissue the lost colors (Yellow and Dark Green). As for "light blue" I pretty much intended this to be any blue that was not dark blue, but you could make a case for a certain shade of light blue as its own legion. I used whatever color is in Galaxy Squad as the blue for the 3rd legion.

Any way a High Council member could get to a place near Berigora?

What do you mean exactly? Are you looking for a spot for your character?

Perfect challenge Ska, I'm in love with it!

Now I must get my minifig stuff ordered within the next few days since I don't want to miss the deadline.

Yes, unless Gabe comes in and declares for someone, Berigoria will be one of the blips on the map that will be in High Council Blue, although probably surrounded by Ulandus Green. Final map should be up tonight, even though the final prelude will not be.

Quick question though - Would I be allowed to have the 13th Legion wear Red and a second color and have them be say Dwarf-only? Or does it have to be a different color entirely?

I am really happy Berigora will be High Council as Stedor is supporting the High Council as well. Two blue blips close to eachother in an Ulandas area :p

The Thousand Suns are the First Centurion's favorites, so they have the main color red locked up. You could accent with red though!

How many Council members per city? I'm sorry if I'm making a nuisance of myself by all my questions, but I could not find any of this information in this topic or elsewhere.

There is no number. I think there are technically multiple in Petraea. This is just for story purposes, and no hard or fast rule. You can have a character that lives anywhere. In the story, Gabe's character is in charge of Beringoria, but that doesn't mean your character can't be there or you can't build there. It just means that he has final say of big matters of that city. You could even be a lord of a town, and still reside in another town! Its very open-ended. Someone will let you know if you go too far with something, trust me! So for now, do what you want.

Got it. Sorry for being a bother.

Great kick-off, Ska! Not sure I will be able to get a build up, as I am busy all weekend, but I am really looking forward to seeing the entries!

Wouldn't mind getting the title myself!

You are definitely keeping us all busy!

Well, my personal goal was to create a pretty lively set of challenges. I hope it works.

At first it looked a bit complicated .But now I am very excited about the countless battles in this challenge. It gives the feel that whole Kaliphlin is overdrawn with war. Thank you for the great challenge so far.

Before I'Ve started creating my version of legion 13, I gave the other 12 a try and visualised at least one of their men. Here is what I have come up with for some possible soldiers within these legions. Far from perfect, and the more I look at them the more small insufficiencies I find, but it's a start...

IMjvdTCm.jpg . 5QQo9Chm.jpg . 2RuXifSm.jpg

The Thousand Suns (alternative version) . . . . . . . . . A Salamander-Mage (also soldier A and soldier B) . A Sand Wolf collecting some... information

VhTD2BRm.jpg . sNNHGtxm.jpg . tly7vyrm.jpg

Once a Faithful Lion, now a Traitor . . . . . . . . . . . . . . A Blazing Sword (version B, was the hardest one!) . An Eternal Soul looking for... something

boE8x0km.jpg . Cu1TMDem.jpg . sQgHuWgm.jpg

A diligent Guardian of the Garden . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Once Death's Finger, now a Traitor . . . . . . . . . . . . . A Morning Star, now a man of the Lost Legion

RGFHomwm.jpg . 0wno2Lzm.jpg . fKbgmPkm.jpg

Mage from Emperors Host (and a soldier . . . . . . . . . Xersia's Pride, with a little companion . . . . . . . . . . . A Sea Serpent has spotted a threat

(I hope these visualisations do not contradict with anything from the major plot)

Great job! I was sort of thinking of putting something like this together myself, but I really wanted people to interpret the many different companies of the different legions as they wanted. This is a great example of that. So I will wait to put up my own interpretation until after this challenge, so that everyone is more free to use their imagination.
