rollermonkey Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) OK. I have it built the same as you do in post #5. While I still think the shape of the dish is perfect, I can't imagine TLHG using the same method to build it in the sequence I did. Someday, I'll get the last 43 lots ordered, and I'll have a place to put this dish. I'm positive that it can be attached to the rest of the ship the exact same was as the original but I'm not sure that I should. I can't tell if it would look right / to scale. The new mount looks pretty svelte. Edited June 27, 2015 by rollermonkey Quote
General Magma Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 That radar dish looks really good, and indeed, looking at the picture, it actually does look like there's a LEGO 2x2 piece mounted on the front of the 'real' MF's radar. I wonder if we'll discover Han Solo's AFOL-hood in TFA. Quote
Azrielsc Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I just built mine with the spare bricks that I have at the moment whilst waiting for my 10179 to come... Much thanks for the instructions & part list for the radar! Quote

rollermonkey Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Down to 28 lots to go when the orders en route arrive. :) Sadly, I'll be able to order some in August, but not September. :/ Worse, I just did a complete inventory, and after getting 14 of them, I either misplaced or accidentally thought I received/had 38 of the 1x10 LBG plates, and of course they are used very early in the build. Azrielsc Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Here's what I did with the limited bricks that I got on hand... I can't put the tan droid arms closer to the centre because there isn't enough space and it causes the 1x2 45degree slopes to bend inwards. Or maybe I did something wrong.. Can't wait for my 10179 to arrive though!! :( Edited July 7, 2015 by Azrielsc Quote
rollermonkey Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 It works better with the older 6.6L bar. The ring is thinner (shorter?) which gives just enough room to fit the extra hand in there. Quote
Azrielsc Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 It works better with the older 6.6L bar. The ring is thinner (shorter?) which gives just enough room to fit the extra hand in there. I don't have any 6.6L bars at the moment, so instead of them bars, I used 2 LBG lightsaber bars instead. It solves the problem of that pesky ring on the bar and the stability of the radar isn't compromised that much. Quote
Azrielsc Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 (edited) Just want to post my completed UCS 10179 with ScottishDave's Ep7 radar. Big thanks to ScottishDave for the easiest mod to "upgrade" the 10179 to Ep 7 version!! :) Now, I am looking at the past threads to see how to mod the 10179 further! Cheers! Naijel Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Han: "Right. I got your promise now. Not a scratch." Later... *Clunk!* Lando: "That was too close." Quote
Soul Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Hmm I quite like the idea of doing this after I build my Falcon. I've got the plain dish and a transfer on the way, but this somehow looks better. However I'm an OT fan so not sure if I'll be able to bring myself to ditch the round one :D Quote
ScottishDave Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 Why not buy a few extra parts and build both: one for regular, one for Sunday best? Quote
Soul Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Hmmm true Need to actually build the Falcon first though Quote
