She had more first place votes but you had more second and third place votes that brought you ahead of her. Didn't Emma win wz 5? You wrote that I got first place.

I realise you want to support both other sides against the DK, but challenge 13 and 14 could see the DK lose 7 points but gain only 1?. Not the sort of battles we would choose. It is quite demotivating to have the GM playing against one side. For the overwhelming victory in challenge 2 we chose H13 which was the only square not under attack at that time.

Define support? Because it sounds like you are saying that I am trying to set it up for a win by one of the other two sides. Which is not true. I can't control what they build, how they build, when they build, and how well they build. There is nothing in my power that can set them up to win. Most squares picked by me have been neutral zones. One of the original WZs was from Ulandus, who had the most squares at the beginning. DK has called the rest of the zones except for Qarkyr. The only side that really has a claim that I have tampered is HC, as I limited their size in the one challenge. Beyond that I have done nothing directly against a team at all. As for the 7 point shift, that could only happen if HC wins both challenges. They have yet to win one, I am not sure DK should be shaking in its boots until HC decides to actually show up. Also, yes the winners do get to call squares, and in fact, Ulandus called Qarkyr, not DK. So, this is not some sort of twisted punishment to DK -- it is a Ulandus attack. Which, if DK wins, unlike any square before this, they get to actually take a square for defending something. WZ 13 was made up because it was an interesting story. and allowed for a three way battle at Qarkyr, if HC can make it there. I suppose they could just guerrilla the heck out of that area instead, but I thought putting a story behind the premise was more fun. And warzones are fairer than guerrilla blankets for DK or Ulandus, because it is a clean chance to really counter the push. I stopped pushing restrictions on GAs because DK was complaining hard about it and I did not want to siphon off the fun. If anything, people could see the lack of action against DK by me as my tacit support for that side. I am not some giant puppeteer trying to mastermind an orchestrated and well rehearsed plot. I am not rooting for anyone, I just want to see mass chaos, people building lots of crap, and having fun. There are plans in motion for whatever side wins, not just Ulandus or High Council. I don't care which side becomes the new ruler. Also, DK already owns H13. I have been waiting for the answer which squares you guys want for the overwhelming and the decisive victory on WZ 5 before posting the map from last week. @Ska so do I get to put " traverser of the sands" in my sig? Sorry if I seem excited just happy I won something. I would say so. --- and I should add that there seemed to be overwhelming support for more zones with additional consequences like the Reservoir. This was voiced many times in various threads. And I just did the math... it is a 6 point swing, not 7.

What do you think it looks like? I thought Ulandus chose WZ13 last week for their well deserved victory not Qarkyr. Don't get me wrong, I think the story telling and set up is fantastic, and I like the multiple squares consequence battles. I am just :/ on this one because it's massively assymetric against the DK When they should be having the upper hand. I hope you are planning something equivalent for the other sides. I know that you are putting in a massive amount of work into this and the Bobs project, and all we do is complain instead of saying thank you, so thank you! ! For the WZ5 extra Square, is it any of the squares around I10? I am confused because I thought I saw a different set of squares.
Bregir Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 An indication of who chose which warzones (which team/gamemaster) might help avoid this confusion. @Robuko: I do not have the impression that there is anything imbalanced in this challenge, however, I am happy to admit I have more or less lost the overview of the whole thing... However, as gamemaster, I understand why Ska would chose significant cities (storywise) and why he might chose a few DK zones, as you have been dominating so far. I think this is an awesome challenge, but I hope we can all play it for fun - I have seem some indications that some might be getting too worked up about who is voting for who, and who is winning when and where. (This is a general observation, not directed at you, Robuko.)

It looks like a game, one that is tweaked so there are more opportunities once in a while. Is it really that fun to absolutely crush the opposition each week? Will there be opposition left? Like I said, I got off the balancing idea after WZ5's discussion. It is better to just play it out. As I said, from a neutral observer, I am pretty sure it looks like I am favoring DK more by not throwing some limitations in there. A theoretical 6 point swing (which would be incredibly hard to win anyway, since it is actually a 1 point swing, and then a five points swing -- Into territory that was not originally DK) isn't the end of the world. I never posted a poll saying that we need to rebalance against DK. -- there was a joke in there about "DK has won already, let's quit" on the question about extending the challenge, but none of the serious poll questions about balancing specifically said anything about DK, all of them were ideas that would be applied to whoever was in the lead at the time. As many pointed out, DK could lose the lead this month or become inactive, then the changes would benefit them as well. In Ulandus' win at the Rumble, Garmadon called F14 in his entry, he was the only one in the list that had a called entry, so that became the warzone, which is what I have done with DK every time as well. I just did not post the new zone in last week, although I had it written when I did the Loop battle (which was called by DK). I wouldn't call Ulandus and High council teaming up "encouraged." I wanted to see what they would do, and wondered if they could find terms to come together to fight off a numerically superior DK. But it was done for mostly purposes of story. The negotiations are far from set, if I understand correctly. It is also just one challenge, and DK loses nothing from losing that warzone. Edited April 14, 2015 by SkaForHire

Keep that in mind and hopefully everything becomes a little bit more light-hearted. Personally, I enjoy the extra challenge of WZ13 and 14. Bring it on! We'll show you we can beat any challenge thrown at us!

Tomsche Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 At beginning, I thought this whole challenge looked like the Games Workshop world campaigns of old. Now it even has the balance discussions going with them ;-) It's a great thingie to play out, awesomejob. I personally picked DK because I wanted to do 'something' with my mummy minifigs, the fact we are currently crushing, well, because the ACTIVE number is bigger at the moment. But I just wonder what will happen should say in two weeks all the inactives in the other sides 'wake up' and the gap would become to big then again for another side... with less time left to rectify it. But in the end, personally I don't care at all wether I'm in the winning or losing camp, I just want to have fun building a bit in the limited time I have. Now, make a new warzone one of the weeks with some smaller sizes again ;-)

Hey man, cut them negative vibes! :P One single warzone where a tower is the challenge probably won't ruin your life Disco ;) @Jacob: I personally appreciate people bringing in new ideas, and a tower build isn't a bad idea for a limited footprint build! :)

Though I think it would be a fun mini challenge to build a serious small fortification and would be totally logic in a war, I know there have been a lot of towers in the history of GoH. But really, it doesn't have to be a tower. It's just the idea of making a small building on a few studs base instead of fighting minifigs. There could be specific conditions, e.g. it must be an entirely wooden building.

Not sure what blatantly dismissing another builder's idea adds to this conversation - besides your personal opinion, which I do not agree with in the slightest. The point here is making it easier for some to participate, especially when there is so much to build for each and every week. Sure, we see a lot of towers in GoH (and why wouldn't we?) but if it means more participation, I'm all for it. If you don't like it, don't build it - simple as that. Also, just want to note I'm good with whatever Ska feels is right to help balance this competition, if he even has such leanings. I'm just doing this for the fun of building - I'm a Nocty man, and the future of Kalilphlin is really none of my business. Honestly, this is the most fun I've had since I started participating in GoH, and I feel like I've never been pushed to build better than I have in with this challenge. I don't feel as if the DK is being handicapped, and even if it is, it's not going to kill the enjoyment I have to be a part of this fantastic community. Nevertheless, I worry the DK's lack of humility will get the better of us if the HC or Ulandus don't do so first... Edited April 15, 2015 by MassEditor
