Gideon Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Warzone 1: The Arkbri Skirmishes (E7) A vast network of irrigration canals are providing water to the food production in the Arkbri valley. Not all of the crops have failed, but the increasing presence of soldiers from all factions have caused many farmers to flee and abandon their fields. Here, patrolling soldiers from Barqa have encountered a scouting band of mountain mummies who have been cornered against an irrigration canal and quickly surrender when their leader has been killed. Bregir Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Congratz on the first entry! Looks very lush, and the posing is excellent, Gideon. Good to see the Barqa guard mobilised in this war! One wonders what would happen to a mummy, should it fall into the water... (On a side note, I have a build waiting to be photographed that has many similarities to this! GMTA ) Quote
Gideon Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 Thanks! One wonders what would happen to a mummy, should it fall into the water... Maybe that's why they are so scared and surrender so easily? Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Great build. I'm sure I've a retaliatory one here somewhere. Edited March 6, 2015 by Lord Vladivus Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 And we're off! I like the tag you used. We should make that official. Quote
Gideon Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) And we're off! I like the tag you used. We should make that official. Thanks! I like the amount of information it contains, but I'm wondering if "Ch4" is really needed to include? Including both warzone number and actual map square is probably a good idea, to be able to quickly identify which battle a build belongs to (maybe there will be multiple battles in the same zone?) and to be able to quickly identify where on the map the build is. SkaForHire Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Yeah, I think we could take that out. I can edit the title if you want. Quote

LittleJohn Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Great first entry! I really like the lush feel and the fig posing is great! I like how deep the water is too Quote
Basiliscus Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Nice work Gideon. You've done well to keep it interesting in what is a difficult base requirement (16 x 16). The palm tree is a nice design. I am happy to this as part of the "Approvals" section of the rules. One suggestion might be to make the water section angled rather than with right angled sides to make it look more natural. Quote
Bregir Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 One suggestion might be to make the water section angled rather than with right angled sides to make it look more natural. If it is an irrigation canal dug out in the mud the shape makes sense to me. Quote
Basiliscus Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 If it is an irrigation canal dug out in the mud the shape makes sense to me. Fair point. I guess if timber was used to prevent is collapsing then right-angles make sense. It just stood out to me...but maybe I need to read the descriptions better! Quote
Kai NRG Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Nice work here Gideon, a nice "reedy" feel and the color of the mud is great! You already have enough, but anyways! Quote
Gideon Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 Thanks for the support! Now let's clear this valley from those linen-wraps!! Ooc: I agree that sloping sides of the canal probably would have been more realistic. However I don't think I have suitable pieces in dk orange... Quote

Ooc: I agree that sloping sides of the canal probably would have been more realistic. However I don't think I have suitable pieces in dk orange... Wow, that is dark orange? My eyes just assumed it was brown with the wrong color adjustment, but since the rest of the colors are spot on, I don't know why I thought that. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Great use of dark orange here Neat combination of bamboo leaves and grass stalks too Quote
MassEditor Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Great scene and well photographed. The vegetation fits the particular warzone well. Though, I don't think DK troops would give up so easily - every death is a new martyr to the king's troops! Quote
Disco86 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Colors and fig posing are getting this MOC to a high level. I especially like the agricultural environment of the Arkbri you showed to us. Quote
Blufiji Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Great build, very real world Middle Eastern like. Quote
