Sinner, I've talked to you about this-there is power in postive thinking! Correct that attitude, boy or I will correct it for you! Don't think that just because you have a bulbous walrus head, there isn't a LEGO toilet it won't fit in. That's your final warning...

I'd like to see that! :-D

Besides the prize is an avatar made by me, I don't want that crap, I already have it!

Actually, I don't want the prize either! 8-|

Don't worry about winning, just have fun and put your best foot (or flipper) forward! *sweet* *y*

Well, the huge appeal of this contest for me was that I wanted to make a tug boat anyway! :-P

It was intentional! I got the idea from a MOC I saw at BrickWorld but this is how I did it, I got all of my brown and frown 1x2 bricks and just mixed them together so it would be completely random and not obviously placed. It's a good thing I chose that method too, because I have 1 1x2 brown brick left! The loading dock base is made from these two parts!

Thanks for telling. I haven't got any of those pieces, but I just added them to my Bricklink wanted list.

Thanks for you compliments!! *wub* And don't cry >:-( Dry your eyes with the hem of your skirt! Perhaps we should build a planet theme together-space houses by me and vehicles by you!

My pleasure. I have actually been planning on making a mini space port for a while....

There! Now change your attitude or you get another!

:-D :-D :-D I'm glad you called me out for that one, it was fun to build. I've been laughing for quite some time building it. :-P

You are welcome! *sweet*

Did I miss the "everyone change to realish people with incredibly dark backgrounds and poor lighting avatars" meeting?

8-|

Damn me for finally taking a nap after 2 days.

I was really happy with my upcomming entry but now when I see all these great entries in my category (buildings), I'll nearly finish last again !! Yeay thats the spirit :-D

LOL.... count on it. I'll be there, fate and Bricklink willing.

I've done most of it... just some details and odd parts are missing. I never thought I would use up all my tiles, but I pretty much...one for buildings. I don't see the need for a separate modular building cat.

Thanks gyl! I appreciate all your compliments and I'm glad to see you still have a positive attitude. *sweet* *y*

Thanks Mr. M! Make sure you show your dad the gallery on my site, it has closeups of the tanks and stuff. I did research for this one! :-$

Thanks Piranha! Yeah, you know me. Always needing attention... :-P

*yoda* Don't get pessimistic! Look what happened to Sinner...

Sinner, you ask for a swirly, I give you one and you can't even say thank you? :'-(

As for the contest, I do like the idea of having three categories: vehicles, buildings and modular. Any thoughts?

To balance out the typically large size of modular, I'd like to suggest the addition of a vignette class, just to give people with small collections the opportunity to join in. It could be focused on smaller things like carts, fountains, scenes depicting a streetside cafe where only a section of building is seen, road work, mailboxes, traffic lights. The things that add flavour to a city display without taking up a lot of space.

For vehicles, I'd like to see something aimed directly at service vehicles instead of simply cars. LEGO has given us some nice examples lately with the recycling truck and cement mixer, I bet we could follow that up with something even better.

I'm not sure how to differentiate between buildings and modular. Buildings, in traditional LEGO City style are drafty wide-open pseudo-buildings meant for play. I rarely see anyone MOC like that. Since almost everything ends up bordering on modular anyway, it wouldn't take much for someone to just make the extra effort to conform to the standard (loose as it really is). That being the case, do we need a 'building' category at all, or could we perhaps split modular into 'commercial' and 'government/civil.'

I like making things complicated, apparently. Take all of this as just me thinking out loud.

:-P I am just realistic there ;-)

Well I think its too early to determine categories in all fairness ;-)

We shoulmd wait and see !!Its not fair to haver a category with 2 entries, and one with way more entries...

I think we should have tgotally different categories such as best overall looks, best fun/nice details and such rather than too wide categories !!

Having a really modular next to a simple building as mine woulkd really not be fair at all.

Therefore I say we wait until the end ;-)

Agree with wait-and-see to decide how to organize context.

Vig-sized constructions should not be competing with 2000 piece behemoths.

Also, I have built a few vehicles to go with my US 1970's style diner. Can they (1 or more) be entered in the vehicle? They won't win, but they should pad the entry numbers nicely....

Sorry. :-$ I've been busy fixing engines and the like. I love it, honest. I think you have found the most original use for that piece yet. :-P (I might even steal the idea!) I'll try to make it up to you. Does this help?
