Athos Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Oooh, a tan barrell, tan viking helmet, black gem (and Terry Brooks fans out there?). Personally, I wish we had more varieties of color in hair pieces. Steve Quote

There are some black viking helmets floating around as well. Quote

oo7 Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 (edited) Yep, they're cool pieces. They make a nice bow for Legolas as well. Edited October 1, 2007 by oo7 Quote
Vader Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I love the black viking helmets, when you add the pearl light grey horns they stand out so much better *wub* I don't think the pics really do them justice as there even better in real life. Quote

Turaga of Force Posted October 13, 2007 Author Posted October 13, 2007 Where did the tan and black viking helmets come from? And what about the Rascus, Danju and Santis promo minifigs? And do any of you have any examples of pieces from LUGs? Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Where did the tan and black viking helmets come from? Pretty much where everything else came from that was mentioned in this topic...they're not from a set. And what about the Rascus, Danju and Santis promo minifigs? Those were just polybag promos offered for a limited time in Europe with a magazine And do any of you have any examples of pieces from LUGs? Isn't that pretty much every part this topic talks about? :-P For examples, not all of these are from LUGs, but most probably are...you can tell which are from LUGs and which are just rare production pieces by how easy it is to find them on bricklink, ones from LUGs were likely made in the thousands, whereas others you'd be lucky to find any if it was just pre-production Quote
Turaga of Force Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 I meant LUGs verses prototypes Quote
madoka Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Regarding rare bricks, on some occasions it's possible to order custom orders I heard from some people. But it requires quite huge amounts of parts. If you want a specific part which does not exist in a certain color, you can TLC make produce it. But it will require you to order 1000 parts or so *sweet* (don't ask me for the exact details though :-P ) If this is true, why hasn't someone placed an order for shakos yet? Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 (edited) If this is true, why hasn't someone placed an order for shakos yet? I guess the moulds must be destroyed. They often do that when they discontinue certain lines.. :-/ Edited October 14, 2007 by UniqueBuilder Quote
Nyundi Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 I was lucky enough to pull a marbled brick out of a set years ago (I think it was one of the Life on Mars series). I remember looking at it and thinking, "wow this is a really cool misprint". So I sent lego an email, and mentioned what it was, and asked if it was just a case of a batch of color not mixing properly, and if they thought it happened often. I also mentioned that if they could easily replicate it (note this is before they were doing this) that it would make for some great parts, and I mentioned classical columns as an example. Wish I still had the reply I got, it was so grossly stock corporate. Something like: "We're sorry for the inconvenience that the low quality blah blah blah if you'd like a replacement part simply blah blah blah." I wrote back saying something like: "Apparently you didn't pick up on the fact that I thought this piece was awesome and there's no way I want a replacement!" Oh well :-$ Here's a pic I just took of it: Quote
Tanotrooper Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 people, people... black viking helmets arent rare! you take a metal pollishing (brasso) chemical rub it on the piece and: -printed items become non printed -metallic silver helmets become light bley helmets -speckle black, copper and gold become black -metallic gold turns into tan (havent tested this out yet...) Think before you give out that $$$ for that unprinted piece... TT Quote
Hinckley Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 people, people... black viking helmets arent rare!you take a metal pollishing (brasso) chemical rub it on the piece and: -printed items become non printed -metallic silver helmets become light bley helmets -speckle black, copper and gold become black -metallic gold turns into tan (havent tested this out yet...) TT Thanks for the advice, but did you have to scold us? :'-( my feelings are hurt... :-P *goes off to make black viking helmets to sell on Bricklink for people who didn't read this thread... >:-) * Quote
Shadows Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 *has a sudden urge to start brasso-ing various parts* Bad, bad Tanotrooper! >:-( Know any other good ones? X-D Quote
gylman Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 My experiences with Brasso has been disappointing. It kinda works, but the parts lose their shine, and it does not work well on tran-parts. For the time and effort and lousy outcome, I'd buy the part instead. Quote
natelite Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 wow...i'm so going to walmart to buy a bottle of brasso now. thanks tter! *y* gold = tan. now if only there is someway of reversing that process. i need gold from tan pieces.... Quote
TheFrisian Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 LOL! Dream on Natelite! If only it were that easy, I'd polish all my grey and black Castle helmets, armour and weapons until they were nice and shiny metallic ;-) Quote
Tanotrooper Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 I need to find a bottle of brasso first... I have these annoying brasso rub things, wich take very long to rub with... I think any metal pollish has the same effect. TT We want Romans BTW sorry to hurt your feelings Hinckley :-P Quote
Derek Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 If this is true, why hasn't someone placed an order for shakos yet? Whats a Shako? Quote
TheFrisian Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Whats a Shako? Since nobody asked, I figured everybody else knew what they are. Glad to see I'm not the only one who didn't know :-$ So, what are Shakos? Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 (edited) A shako is this: But in the lego sense it is this: They are worn by Imperial Soldiers, found in the pirate sets! Hope this helps! ;-) Edited October 28, 2007 by Lord Of Pies Quote
TheFrisian Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Ah, should've known. Didn't know that was a rare piece, got several lying around somewhere. Quote
