Kuat Drive Yards Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Figured I wanted to make somethin' like a Sentinel-class Shuttle to carry all the shiny stormtroopers I got for Christmas, but since 1. I don't have the correct color or shape of colors to make a perfect Sentinel and 2. I also wanted my shuttle to carry AT-STs, I decided to go my own way with this. So, here is construction log one: As you can see, I have a tidy little gearbox that the wings are attatched to. Here's the crank that operates it (I'll turn it in to something prettier later.) And here's with the wings folded down. That's it for today! Come back tomorrow for more! Edited March 13, 2015 by Kuat Drive Yards Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Looks good so far. I can't wait to see it more completed. Quote
James Wellington Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Pretty good so far, although a shuttle carrying AT-STs? Perhaps my shuttle knowledge is limited, but I do not recall a AT-ST shuttle, and it also looks a bit small to carry one (unless the AT-ST is mini), however I could be mistaken. Anyway, keep up the great work, I cannot wait to see the result. Quote

Pretty practical really, get to a DZ and drop a an AT-ST into a forest or a swamp, that kind of thing. Quote

Also, the shuttle will be a lot bigger than is now (don't worry, the AT-STs are minifig scale.) I'll upload a new log later today. Quote

Kuat Drive Yards Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Boy are y'all in for a treat tonight! I got a LOT of work done today, enjoy! Here's the AT-STs and speeders that the shuttle will carry. If you want I can take more pictures of them tomorrow, but I'm too tired to do so now. I bet you're wondering how the shuttle can carry 'em... Ta-da! I think I'll just let the image speak for itself. A closer look at how the AT-STs are attached. Here's the engines. Now instead of turning an ugly crank you can turn the center engines... ...and down go the wings! An anti-fighter autoturret. A closer shot of the back turret. A better shot of the crew area. I'm pretending the snow troopers are actually "E-web" troopers that wear heavier armour to protect them while their setting up the E-web gun, that way I can justify using them with my other troops. That's it for today, folks! UPDATE: Here's the minfigs on the other side. Here's the infantry captain and armor captain posing next to the battle computer. The infantry captain is just an imperial admiral with an imperial navy helmet. It may look strange to some, but it should make sense to us Empire at War players. GuyDudeMan27 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Looks great! I assume that the front will get all done up and have landing gear at some point. I can't wait to see more progress! Quote
Kuat Drive Yards Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 You are correct, though I am not familiar with landing gear so it might take a few iterations. Quote
Spud The Viking Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I really like this project! Can't wait to see more! Quote
Kuat Drive Yards Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) You're gonna want to listen to this while you read this post. IMG_0125 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr Ta-da! It's finished! IMG_0145 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr I'll start with minor details: This is the improved top wing. IMG_0144 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr The new top turret. IMG_0128 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr Now the speeders are being carried, too. IMG_0130 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr A closer look at the speeders. IMG_0133 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr The E-web troopers assembling their gun. IMG_0134 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr With the gun assembled, the other troopers pull out their blasters. IMG_0126 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr The front landing gears. IMG_0146 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr And the back. Yeah, neither are very impressive, but again this is my first real attempt at landing gear. IMG_0131 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr The AT-STs walking along side the shuttle. IMG_0148 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr Here's the interior of the AT-ST. Not much, but it houses a pilot and a gunner (I have no AT-ST pilots ) IMG_0132 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr On to the front (the boarding ramp folded up in this pic got changed in later pics. Yes, I was too lazy to take another picture of this angle with the new ramp.) IMG_0139 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr Close-up on the cockpit. IMG_0140 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr The shuttle pilot at his controls. IMG_0142 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr The technician in the back ( I had to turn on flash). IMG_0135 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr The boarding ramp with the Stormtroopers and their captain exiting. IMG_0137 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr All forces deployed. IMG_0150 by kuatdriveyards17, on Flickr Another setup. That's it! It was really fun building this and it was WELL worth it! Edited March 18, 2015 by Kuat Drive Yards Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Great job! This looks really good! I really like your cockpit. It looks like an imperial shuttle's, but is just different enough. I could really see this thing swooping into battle. This is definitely my favorite Moc of yours to date. Keep up the great work! Quote
Kodan Black Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 ^^ I agree, definitely my favorite. That thing holds a ton of stuff! It is like the Empire's clown car. Can't wait to see more stuff from you! Quote
Kelso Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 That looks really good, best MOC you've made so far! Quote
Smitty500 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Great MOC! Imperial Landing Craft+ LAAT/c = Awesome ship combo! Also, looks like it has the front of an AT-TE. Have you thought about maybe adding some "sliding" doors to the sides for troops to get out quicker like a gunship? Quote
Azrielsc Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Love all the WIP photos as well. It helps to describe each and every function of the build. Keep it up, KuatDriveYards! Please churn out more! :) Quote
Scoonix Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Great MOC ! It's a really good idea to combine buildings (starship + AT-STs + speeders). Quote
Samppu Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Wow, pretty cool! I like the overall playability of this creation very much. Working and high enough boarding ramp is just awesome. Though none of these vehicles is a very accurate copy of some OT-vehicle, you have perfectly managed to capture the feel of Imperial standard on each of the vehicles. The walkers and the speeder bikes are something you could very well confront in the Expanded Universe, for instance. The landing craft actually bears a good resemblance to a craft seen on Rogue Squadron II Yavin mission: All in all, good job! -Samppu Quote
Chills Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Pretty nice looking, KDY. I dig the creative details on the interior, and how you are able to transport a lot of troops and equipment. Quote
rollermonkey Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I think you evolved from 'Shuttle' to 'Dropship' when you start carrying walkers to the surface. Quote
