___ Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 (edited) WHAT ARE "B-MODELS"? This term was used by Bjarne Panduro Tveskov (senior LEGO Space designer in mid-80's/early-90's) in THIS interview, describing models pictured mainly on rear side of LEGO boxes in 80's/90's, which are basically some different possible builds (without building instructions!) from the exactly the same pack of bricks as the main model set (or in principle: "Let's see what else we can build from the sets bricks only"). So that said below are some of my interpretations of those...all the LXF are, of course, mine... Edited March 23, 2015 by bublible Quote

alanyuppie Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 It's a pity LEGO didn't do this anymore... but these B-designs without instructions seriously inspired me to tackle them although not reaching 100% accurracy. Thats the point of LEGO , to keep the kids occupied for weeks at end. Now it's about peddling more alternate models in websites to be followed. Quote

___ Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 I really like this alternate model: Yea, I was always wondering how genuine and genial those old LEGO designers had to be if they were able to do so many different builds from the same amount of bricks even tho they were like 10 pieces or so. That being said I agree with you fully. Quote

Spirit Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Very nice renditions, and a good source of inspiration. :) Also, it's always funny to spot an illegal build on an official box, good job... Quote

Thanx Actually it is quite embarrassing to see TLG own developers did not considered such connections as illegal and to my opinion they are not at all - why should they be if it is really applicable in real LEGO, seems like these kind of stuff appears only after LDD was released, but I may be wrong, of course Edited April 20, 2015 by bublible Quote
___ Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 Those Spy Bot alt builds are great! Yea, I like them too...and thanx Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Is it just me, or is the far left Spy Bot build retroactively reminiscent of ED-209? Quote
___ Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 Is it just me, or is the far left Spy Bot build retroactively reminiscent of ED-209? Maybe a little bit (had to use Google to find out what the ED-209 is actually )...on the other hand: is it just me or does the other one looks like a frog? Quote
