Posted March 17, 20159 yr I started working on this beast: Front axle so far: Its a portal axle with extremely close steering point of the wheels, which lies on the inner edge. This means axle can be steered with RC unit's mechanical ouput. Edited March 17, 20159 yr by Zblj
March 17, 20159 yr Author Sorry for bad photo, my camera is dead ATM... Will try making better pictures of hopefully finished chassis tomorrow.
March 17, 20159 yr Looks like some nice 4-link suspension you have there, and also a very interesting wheel/tire combo. Looking forward to more pictures
March 17, 20159 yr Sorry for bad photo, my camera is dead ATM... At least you have a good excuse. I just take bad photos
March 18, 20159 yr Author Here's the finsihed rolling chassis Its fast and powerful, the rear springs will be replaced with softer black ones.
March 18, 20159 yr How does it work , are you not worried about twisting that long white axle , may be a shorter one made up of 2 with a connector might be better .
March 18, 20159 yr Wow. Low grafity center is very good start:) Next step - good body. Hope you'll desgin it rom scratch, don use previos 6x6 version;) Check this http://vk.com/topic-40661157_29855548
March 18, 20159 yr Author I used the fast motor outputs with gear ratio 1:1 or 1:3. Wish I lad lime bricks, but Its gonna have to be gray or white.
March 18, 20159 yr How does it work , are you not worried about twisting that long white axle , may be a shorter one made up of 2 with a connector might be better . Awesome job! but i had the same observation as darksheep. Not only is that axle really long, but unsupported. Too much torque on it and it may twist or pop right out?
March 18, 20159 yr Nice, another off-roader? That's awesome, it's actually probably my favorite class of vehicles. I wish I had an RC unit
March 18, 20159 yr Author I will shorten the front drive axle, but it needs room to move along with the front axle.
March 18, 20159 yr Perfect. It really is a great model to create. Looking @ the picture from the original post, the lime green one, the ground clearance is outrageous. It really stands out. I'll bet that will be a major focus on the redition of the real thing in your model.
April 5, 20159 yr Lookin good! Bit too narrow for my taste but that is just what the original is like. Why did you ditch the older rims though? They would give better steering geometry wouldn't they? Anyway cool stuff as always!
April 5, 20159 yr Author I lowered the roof by a stud, looks much better now... I used normal hubs, because the old design while really awesome, had problems with wheels sliding off axles. Edited April 5, 20159 yr by Zblj
April 5, 20159 yr The 4x4 version of a 6x6 version of a 4x4 car. XD I like how it looks, though not very sure about the red. Would love to see how it performs. Also any pictures of the back? :D
April 5, 20159 yr This is very different fro your usual builds, regarding total covering body, and I must say, I like it very much!
