Posted March 18, 20159 yr Hi folks, I did it again, but hey, it's no Unimog :) In the USA the car has a nice nickname "The Thing", it's a Volkswagen 181. Sadly it's rarely seen nowadays. But I really like the car... As allways first I try to build the cab to know, that I'm albe to build it... Check :) The next step is to design a chassis which fits... Have fun watching the pics and stay tuned... So far... Pat
March 19, 20159 yr Yeah, VW Thing. You can still find them at VDub car shows I think. Thing has all flat body panels if I recall.

March 19, 20159 yr Author Yes, The Thing ist mostly flat, so suitable for Lego :D I don't know, if it's the right way. It's easier for me... And if I can build the cab I keep motivated to build the chassis...
March 19, 20159 yr The next step is to design a chassis which fits... You can always make it bigger scale and use Sheepo's VW type 1 chassis :-). I believe The Thing and the Beetle shared chassis in real life.

March 26, 20159 yr Author Hi folks, a little progress... But since the motors are still out of stock at Lego I have to wait... The tires fit extremely well, was unsure, but the look is OK... Pat
