Garmadon Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) In a small town a little below Mpya Stedor, a bit of shady business is taking place between a Ulander official and a High Council agent. Having bargained for exactly how much the town would be turned over, the agent was about to hand over the bribe money when it started raining- what!? Looking up (and getting more wet in the process), the agent saw a maid throwing water out of the window. "You could have warned me!" he exclaimed to the official, who had trouble controlling his laughter. "Alright hand it over," he replied. As he gave him the money the drenched agent failed to notice the official winking and nodding. "Ahem, sir, what is this?" queried the Ulander Captain of the Thirteenth Legion behind him. Looking quickly around the agent saw he was surrounded and decided to make a virtue of necessity and give in. "You may go, and tell your High Council never to bribe a Ulander - and thanks for paying in advance!" My counter to Bregir's guerrilla. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome! Adair Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Very nice! I will say that yours looks quite technically superior to his, though I tend to like his layout better. The use of the wheel and the rods don't seem to quite fit in well (the rods are a little to out IMO) but I like the well and the roof! Great job! Quote
Yzalirk Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Awesome counter, Garmadon! This one is definitely a great counter and I really like how you made the setting look very similar to the original. Quote

I'm not sure what you mean about the layout though, as mine is an almost exactly the same as his! Awesome counter, Garmadon! Yes, I tried to make it close enough to the original to be easily recognized! Quote
Jacob Nion Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Impressive how close your build is to the original! Great work. Oh, and good luck Quote
LittleJohn Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Definitely a great counter! I really like how close you made it to Bregir's. Excellent well and water effect too Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Great counter! And I love how similar it is to Bregir's! Quote
Bregir Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Hey Garmadon, you copycat! I really like how you recreated (and perfected) the scene, but what I like the most is how you have played along and continued the story, down to the water bucket being emptied. It really gives the impression that this happens immediately after my build. I had considered a few options for how to counter this, and while I would have arrested the official, aprehending the spy was also amongst my thoughts, and you executed it brilliantly! Further, you really take excellent photos! Good job. PS. A side-thought: While this is a perfect example of how to mirror the guerilla closely, I suppose one could also build a different scene, but mirroring, or rather countering, the effect of the guerilla. (E.g. Maxim's counterbuild in Everlast.) Quote

Thanks for the complement on the photos as well, I take them outside in the shadow of the house (unless it is a cloudy day, in which case I don't bother to get the house's shadow). As to the counters, I perfectly agree! Quote
Kai NRG Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 So much for the "puny Ulandians"! We'll show them! A great counter, both the houses are really nice but my favorite part is that well! Quote

Maxim I Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Really nice counter!! I love how you did the twist in the story! Especially with the bucket!! What I miss are the dark green colours in the other build... Neverthless, great job!! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Great take on Bregir's MOC. I like your well and dripping guy especially I like the idea of the diagonal supports on the wooden house, if you could get the rod to fit a tad closer, it would look even better. Perhaps a headlight brick with one of these clips : http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=48729 Quote

Hmm, I was a bit unhappy with the distance between them and the wall too, but I tried those pieces and it didn't get them any closer... I think now that the best way to do it would probably be to move the entire white sections back half a stud and have the rods fit in with the wooden corners. Thanks for the advice though! Quote
Maxim I Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Thanks DM! I suppose you are referring to the sand green and lime? Yups, my bad Quote
