jorgeopesi Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 You scared me Paul, what a fantastic MOC!. It reminded me of an episode of Knight Rider in which there was a demon in a mirror. Quote

Kelkschiz Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Cool! And a bit scary, i hope i won't have nightmares. Quote
rumpletump Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Yes it is hard to believe.. But what is harder to believe is there are no 19L flex axles to be seen The panel positioning is very good.. Great angles on the face Quote
dr_spock Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Nice animatronic and scary. You could add some wheels to it and drive it around scaring kids at LEGO events. Quote
KirTech LAB Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Original idea and excellent execution - great work!!! Quote
darksheep Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Wow that is really really cool , love how the face changes so much very surprising when you see it the first time . Quote
bonox Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Are you going to try and surprise/scare people with it at the show? Quote
allanp Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) That totally looks like the face that pops up in the Exorcist, good job Edited March 19, 2015 by allanp Quote
Paul Boratko Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Great job! How many motors does it use? It originally had 4, but I combined the eyebrow and ear functions onto one L-motor because in the end, I think it just looked cooler when they worked together.. There is a servo for the jaw(one way makes the jaw open and the other way does nothing) that moves a cam and pushes a lever connected to the jaw and and makes it open and then Two 2909c03 springs close the jaw when the cam goes back to it's original position when the servo returns to center.. And one servo for the eyes... I didn't notice when I recorded this, but one of the horns got misaligned and the panel on the side of the left eye came apart a little bit, that is why the panel moves a little when the eyes look to the right... It must have happened when I was carrying it... Are you going to try and surprise/scare people with it at the show? LOL.. I don't know if it will scare anyone, but everyone is fascinated by seeing things move, so I figured I might as well build something new that might be entertaining... I'll put my wife in charge of operating it... Edited March 19, 2015 by Paul Boratko Quote

Meatman Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I've seen a few animated Lego robotic heads in the past, but nothing like this. Very impressive. Quote

Meatman Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Hey Paul, did you ever see that movie Maximum Overdrive? I showed the video to one of my coworkers and he said it looked like the Goblin truck from the 80's movie Maximum Overdrive, and he's right. I forgot all about that movie. Quote
