Should invest in Lego Marvel sets, or Star wars?

I just started getting into system, and I'm looking for a theme to stick with. Marvel sets tend to be cheaper and cooler-looking, but I like the designs of the Star Wars sets more.

Well the main selling point for the Super Heroes line are the minifigs,after all alot of people buy the sets mostly for that reason and rarely for the models(there's always expectesions like this years Hulkbuster set).About Star Wars,both minifigs and models have value.It depends what you're interested more,if it's minifigs I'll point you at the Marvel sets since they have a big variety of characters but if you want cool looking models too then Star Wars is for you.

I was at this point a while ago, basically I collect all Superheroes and then the really appealing Star Wars ones, with Star Wars there is a somewhat limited source material but Superheroes has hundreds of characters and vehicles that have yet to be created.

So it's down to taste but Superheroes sets for me are just more colourful and fun.

I also was debating on getting into one of these two themes with the Middle-Earth stuff seemingly done. Star Wars has more multi purchase appeal to me, which isn't necessarily a good thing. I am a completionist and army builder so that theme could get really expensive, really fast. They have tons of battle packs and release dozens of sets every year. Super Heroes, on the other hand, has almost no multi purchase appeal. No one needs more than one Superman, Batman, etc... despite getting several in a wave.

Star Wars seems more army and vehicle based, while Super Heroes are more focused on the heroes (obviously), and brightly colored comic like sets. It really depends what you are looking for.

The one thing I forgot to mention is how pricey Star Wars is compared to Superheroes.

What do you mean by invest? You mean buy it and wait for its rise in value and sell it for profit?

I'd say Marvel, both teams are evergreen BUT Star Wars keeps re-making all those darn ships over and over again.

Take the Quinjet for example, when Infinity War sets are here you are gonna regret not having bought it. it's not like they will re-make it

I stick with Marvel and DC because they're usually cheaper if you shop around (Don't buy from scalpers on eBay or you're gonna have a bad time) and the models have a bigger variety. The minifigs are the main reason people buy these sets but some of the models like the Hulkbuster or both Quinjets are worth the price as a whole. At worst, if you bought a set for the minifigs, you could use it as a parts pack or sell the model, sans figures, on eBay to make back some money.

Long story short, I go for a couple of Star wars sets, but I'm a Superheroes guy

Star Wars seems to be re-doing a lot of its sets and figures, i would'nt be suprised if even the new sets get re-made at some stage, the exceptions being the massive sets such as the Death Star.

With Marvel the figures are normally the main selling point, however their are exceptions such as with the Hulkbuster as others have mentioned. Though similar to Star Wars, the vehicles and main Avengers seem to be getting multiple variations and the Guardians Of The Galaxy sets also, so your best bet would be going for lesser known hero sets like the Ant-Man set in summer. Villains are also less likely to get variations, so they are worth getting also

Just kidding. If by invest you mean buy a set and wait for it to increase in price post-production, I'd say go with Star Wars. For example, the 7667 Imperial Dropship was a $10 in it's time, but now you're lucky to get it for $18 (Amazon, for example, had it at $50. I'm not so sure the same inflation will occur with Marvel sets, though.
