After how badly the live-action Speed Racer performed at the box office, sadly I can't see them releasing Speed Racer Dimensions sets. I loved the live-action film though and would definitely buy some Speed Racer Dimensions stuff if they released any.

I hope it does happen at some point. Personally, I would love a level pack with Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner land a box of ACME.

I liked the movie too, I just think the Series would work out better.

And yes, we need Wile E. Coyote, and Road Runner!

"When life gives you minikits, don't make Miniature Kits. Make life take the minikit back! Get mad! I dont want your damn minikits, what the hell am I suppose to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson minikits! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's going to burn your house down! With the minikits! I'll get my engineers to invent a combustible minikit that burns your house down!"

It doesnt work for me. When I do that for Chell or Marty, the instruction tile is flipped over backwards. It worked just fine with Cyborg and Batman but not marty. It keeps saying I need to play through Back to the Future Level. I dont know what they are talking about. I played the old west stage in the story level and went to the BTTF level portal. I still cant unlock the instruction for the mini delorean.

For Chell, we had to play through some of the level to get the instructions for the Companion Cuber and Turret. It just paused the game when we got to those spots and gave us the instructions. Less intuitive than the Fun Packs.

Yea from what i gathered from the simpsons pack is that building the builds for level packs is built in to the level it comes with. part of the story. im guessing its like that for all the level packs, which kind of sucks, because if you want to use the builds you have to play the level even if you wanted to wait until later :sceptic:

Strange how people are reporting this. I got all three level packs and it gave me instructions for the builds right off the bat without playing anything.

I'm trying my best not to get into this mess... I'm not even done with the Jurassic World game yet! Seeing all the pictures and reviews are really tempting me (The Portal pack looks amazing ), but I know my wallet just can't support it! :cry_sad:

Here are my thoughts on Lego Dimensions:

Unlike other toys-to-life games (*cough*Nintendo*cough), the stores seem to be well stocked with Lego Dimension sets.

I visited a EB Game store, and a whole shelf was devoted to Lego Dimensions.

There is a video demo setup showing off the sets.

The starter base and packaging are smaller than I thought it would be.

I picked up Portal 2, Cyborg, Nya, Zane and Benny.

I didn't get the starter set as my funds are already stretched. (I may get the starter set later).

This is cheatest way to get Cyborg and Benny - the only way to get them before was from other expensive Lego sets.

The Lego instructions only shows how to put together the minifig. The Lego dimension website have all the instructions for all the packs.

The minifig character bases are decorated, while the vehicle bases are not. From the looks of it the

.

In theory, you can swap out the vehicle bases with other sets.

The Portal gun is made out of soft rubber - I found it was difficult to put the gun in Chell's hand.

Yeah I saw the prices, EB Games have pre-order on all the yet to be released packs too. Holy choose-your-own-word-here, $170 for the starter pack, $50 for a level... plus I'd have to buy a console to even play the game, what are they $300+ or something?

Bricklinking the minifigs looks like it's definitely the go, and I will watch videos of other people playing the game on Youtube...

So they could get Ellen Mclain, Stephen Merchant. JK Simmons, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett (and everyone else) to act the characters they played but they couldn't get Ian McKellen or any of NINJAGO's actors? :hmpf_bad:

JK Simmons in... Portal?

So, do the level packs have no "free play"? Because I skimmed a portal pack video and it looked like all the portal pack pieces, and only the portal pack pieces get one through the level.

JK Simmons in... Portal?

He played Cave Johnson in Portal 2, and he returned to replay his role as him in Dimensions.

edit: Does anyone have some good images of the mini Samurai Mech they gave Nya for this? Not the one that comes in her set, the one that's a bit larger than that.

I believe they went with the actors who've previously played those characters in LEGO videogames specifically.

http://brickingaround.com/2015/09/29/lego-dimensions-instruction-pdfs/ has links to instructions for all the builds across all the currently-released packs.

Someone should go through all the instructions and their inventory pages and make a list of every part that is exclusive to Dimensions at this point (as opposed to parts we have already seen).

I know for the BTTF pack (the only one I have any real interest in from the first wave) the new parts are the 1 x 2 plate with wheel holder (which also appears in other Dimensions sets), the red guitar (which is exclusive to the dimensions pack in its unprinted state but exists with printing in the Series 14 Frankenstein rocker guy), the hoverboard and the round game base pieces. The minifig itself is exactly the same as in the Ideas set.

I also checked the Benny Fun Pack and the new parts in that are the 1 x 1 tile with tooth in blue and the round game base pieces. The minifig itself is the same as in the Sea Cow and Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP!

Maybe someone else can do the same audit for the other Dimensions packs so people thinking about buying them for parts rather than for the game will know which ones contain what new parts and therefore which ones are worth buying. For example anyone who already has Benny and a reasonable collection of other parts might find it better to just build the spaceship models from their existing collection (and substituting the 1 x 1 with tooth in a different color, buying one from the secondary market or waiting for LEGO to put it in another set) rather than spending the money to buy the Dimensions pack.

Here's the problem though: Todd Hansen wasn't voice-acting TLM Gandalf, he was voice-acting actual Gandalf, of whom they used dialogue from the LoTR movies to represent him in both the LEGO LoTR game, and the Hobbit video game.

Oh and to whoever suggested Looney Tunes in LEGO, I say "Shut up and take my money".

Too bad the "man of a thousand voices" is dead and wouldn't be able to provide voice talent for the game (I dont think there is a voice actor on the planet who can do the Looney Tunes as well as Mel did em)

As soon as Disney Infinity was announced, I hoped for a looney tunes game in retaliation. Much zanier and more possibility of outlandish character abilities just made that seem like it'd be a funner game then using disney characters - who in infinity seemed a lot less... "animated" than even they should have been (haven't played it so maybe I'm just a prematurely judgemental numbskull). But I really respect Looney Tunes more than a lot of the Disney franchises, for the fun factor and for not demanding worship so much, outside of letting the quality speak for itself.

I think the Looney Tunes are definitely better suited to videogames than the Disney characters. Their whacky nature suits the whole videogame format well because it doesn't limit the gameplay whereas Disney characters tend to be more character-driven. Although Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal was a bit disappointing in hindsight.

I just hope we get vortech soon. Maybe he's one of the packs from the leaked set list. He'd probably be in a $50 pack. Dimensions are going to keep getting expensive, they're not going to lower the prices.

Yeah, we need Lord Vortech. Who wouldn't want to play as a evil Gary Oldman?

And yes, we need Wile E. Coyote, and Road Runner!

Just trying to picture Batman riding Road Runner (I assume he'd be a three-in-one build).

Ian McKellan is an extremely busy man. Be thankful they got Chris Pratt (something which should have been impossible).

After playing the game, I'm really hoping the S - in the leaked list of upcoming packs is for Stargate. MGM/Universal has already let some of their properties into the game too with Jurassic World. A Jack O'Neil / Teal'c team pack would be awesome. Then add a glider and a MALP as vehicles.

And the portal is basically a stargate anyway :classic:

Can't see it personally. I think it'll be Sonic The Hedgehog given that they would get both kids and adults buying Sonic Dimensions sets.

Bought this for WiiU. I was surprised by the issues we've had...

Granted, my boys were impatient and didn't want to wait the estimated 19 minutes to let the game update when we first started it up. So we went straight in, not realizing that there was a GAME BREAKING BUG 5 minutes into the game! If you don't update, and you remove Batman from the portal at any time, then it'll never let you build the Batmobile. So you're stuck there forever. I had to google and found out it was a bug and to let the game update. There also were differences between the onscreen instructions for building the portal and the printed booklet. Dunno if those were fixed in the patch or not.

And then annoyingly, when you installed the patch, and loaded your "stuck" saved game, it restarted the game and you have to sit through those non-skippable cutscenes introducing the characters and redo the beginning of the game.

Then later, partway through the Wizard of Oz section, it completely froze up the WiiU. Had to force the system to power down.

Just seems like a bit of polish was missing from the usual Lego standards... but the figs and game still seem awesome. I'm sure we'll have a blast with it!
