Ordinareo Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) With all these speculations and confirmations for new themes and packs, it really brings me back to when LEGO Dimensions was announced last year and we were trying figure out what franchises would be in it. Darth Wayne Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 You have to build a launch pad on the ground (Unikitty rainbow bricks I think) and launch yourself through the window. Say what? That pad's gotta be pretty far away then since i remember falling down right below the window and not seeing ANYTHING on the ground hmmm... i'll check it out later, thanks! It does seem foolish, I pity them. Quote
strangely Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Seriously? They'd release Mr T as a minifigure over the numerous iconic characters from Doctor Who not playable yet? Mr. T is pretty iconic in himself. I would rather see new franchises and minifigures in this game then constantly adding more and more from the same franchises. Dr. Who got two packs, which is more than I can say for many other franchises in this game. People could be pitching a fit and foaming from the mouth over not getting the protagonists from the Lord of the Rings and the Wizard of Oz, but most accepted that. If Dr. Who is so wildly popular like you seem to believe than Lego will do more down the line and if it isn't at least you got two packs, a level and a part in the main game (Plus an Ideas set). And just because you don't think something or someone is popular enough to deserve a spot in this game doesn't mean there aren't people that do. Everyone has different tastes and Lego is trying to appeal to a wide range. Mr. T may seem like an odd choice, but like most franchises in this game there is the nostalgia factor and I think people will ultimately love the gimmick of playing as Mr. T. Now we just need Chuck Norris... Quote
Darth Wayne Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Here ya go, just made this for you :) lol thanks, but what the hell? I never even saw that lying there on the ground hmmm... Oh well, one Gold brick down, 4 to go or so in the DC world :) (one of em is Aquaman of course) Quote
Starscream759 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) I for one am quite keen on the idea of Mr T being in the game and I can just imagine the things he'd say in the game: "Quit yo jibber jabber, foo'! I am here to stop Lord Vortech from taking over the dimensions, yeah!" "I pity the fool who messes with the Dark Knight." "And remember kids, stay in school and also remember to brush ya teeth every day." Edited March 6, 2016 by Starscream759 Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) Well... wow. I'm guessing from the way CM4Sci bolder "Mr T" that it actually is indeed Mr. T, the person. Utterly bizarre, but he has appeared as a character in his own entertainment franchise, so there you go. I am provisionally assuming that the playable characters appearing in that pack and the Sonic one are indeed Mr. T and Sonic, naturally enough. I am also leaning towards these mysterious "Connectables" being a new, fifth type of pack (after Starter, Level, Team, and Fun), though I guess we'll see soon enough. Once again, then, here's the current list of all known packs, color-coded for easy distinction of Starter, Level, Team and Fun Packs, plus the new Connectables, with known characters (or assumed ones, like Sonic and Mr. T): 71170 - Starter Pack: PS3 (Wyldstyle, Gandalf & Batman) 71171 - Starter Pack: PS4 (Wyldstyle, Gandalf & Batman) 71172 - Starter Pack: XBox One (Wyldstyle, Gandalf & Batman) 71173 - Starter Pack: XBox 360 (Wyldstyle, Gandalf & Batman) 71174 - Starter Pack: Wii U (Wyldstyle, Gandalf & Batman) 71201 - Level Pack: Back to the Future (Marty McFly) 71202 - Level Pack: The Simpsons (Homer Simpson) 71203 - Level Pack: Portal 2 (Chell) 71204 - Level Pack: Doctor Who (the Doctor) 71205 - Team Pack: Jurassic World (Owen Grady & ACU Trooper) 71206 - Team Pack: Scooby-Doo! Since there are multiple packs listed for both, though, I'm not assigning those characters to specific packs just yet, though it seems to me Harry would likely be in the first pack for his franchise. Still plenty of gaps in the numbering! Edited March 6, 2016 by Blondie-Wan Quote
Ordinareo Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) What if these so called "Connectables" are skins for the playable characters in LEGO Dimensions? "Connectables" as in connecting new pieces to existing minifigures? Edited March 6, 2016 by Ordinareo Quote
Lyichir Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 What if these so called"Connectables" are skins for the playable characters in LEGO Dimensions? "Connectables" as connecting new pieces to existing characters? I don't know about that—that'd be quite limited in scope compared to the other packs, especially because you'd seemingly have to have the original characters to use them (not all of whom would be owned by all users of the starter packs). When I first heard the term, my first thought was that it might be like the power-up discs from Disney Infinity, that could be used to augment any character. But I've seen a number of alternate (and maybe even more plausible) theories. Notably, there are exactly five connectable packs—the same number as the number of systems that Dimensions is available on. So they could potentially be some sorts of expansion packs. Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 My initial thought was that they'd allow one to use more than one toy pad / portal, for having more than seven characters / vehicles / creatures / gadgets, and/or allow more than two people to play at once. I don't think that's likely, though, but it would be cool. (What does happen if one connects more than one Toy Pad to one's console? That's already physically possible to do, right? Can the game recognize more than one?) Quote

I can't imagine any kids clamouring to play as Mr T though, whereas the other franchises currently have kids who'd want to buy those packs also (with the exception of Portal, which turned out to be an extremely odd choice). Plenty of kids have seen Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, The Simpsons, Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie, Jurassic World, Scooby Doo, Batman and other DC Comics properties but I can't imagine many have seen either A Team or a show presented by Mr T. It's an odd choice because it's something that presumably only people born in the 80s will get and want to buy the pack he is in. Quote
rob-ot5000 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I'd personally like to see Jake as the brick-built "vehicle" in a level pack to make it a more literal manifestation of his shape-shifting powers, but I suppose popular demand will be for a minifig form. Solid idea! Speaking for myself, and everyone else ever, I want both. That would be supercool. Jake-suit! Quote

Also, I'd much rather have that Chuck Norris figure that someone jokingly mentioned. And, even those it's in the same position, I still kinda hope KR is Knight Rider. Who doesn't need a talking car?? Answer: no one. As for the good Mr., I will say that I do enjoy pitying fools, and maybe kids will too. Maybe they just don't know it yet? From what anecdotes I've heard, older gamers make up a fairly large portion of Lego Dimensions' audience. To a certain extent, that makes sense—while Lego in general tends to be marketed first and foremost at kids, the audience for video games (even E-rated video games) tends to skew older. Many of Lego Dimensions' franchises take advantage of this audience and their nostalgia, including Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, and even Doctor Who (you might be surprised at this but here in the United States Doctor Who only recently became popular and is much, much more popular with adults than with kids). Also, keep in mind that Mr. T is not just an actor from the A-Team. He's a veritable celebrity in his own right, with an extremely distinctive appearance and persona. Over half of his filmography revolves around him playing himself or an exaggeration of himself, rather than original named characters. There's a reason why the set is literally labeled as "Mr. T" when the other placeholder names refer to the actual media properties the characters come from, rather than the actors or characters themselves. CM4Sci Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 On second thought, maybe one Dimensions pack won't be Jillian. I was just looking at the promo pictures and all 3 faces appear in the set itself. Wonder why they included a 2nd torso then. Maybe we are getting her, I dunno. Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Mr. T sounds incredible XD Let's be real, though, there's a fair bit of the characters in this game that are more oriented towards the adults anyway. Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Portal 2, and the Simpsons aren't exactly being nominated for Kids Choice Awards, y'know? Besides, Mr. T's iconic enough for a fair bit of kids to have heard of him and know the usual jokes. Sonic is blowing my mind, though. How're they gonna pull off Sonic the Hedgehog without it being reeeeeally weird? Adventure Time sounds great, and makes a lot of sense, since a bunch of these properties are based on Ideas sets and Adventure Time's had a solid handful of sets get to the review process. I wonder if Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts will share a world? Given they exist in the same universe it would make sense, but they take place in such different times and places. I think it's safe to assume that one of the Harry Potter packs will be a level pack with Harry, so maybe the second one will be a team pack with Hermione and Ron? I can't imagine them excluding those two. If Teen Titans Go! is being treated as a separate franchise, it would make sense that one of those packs would include Robin, right? Because the DC Comics Robin was taken, not this one? I'd say it's probably a bit more likely that we'll see a pack with Raven (be it a level or a fun pack) and a team pack with Beast Boy and Cyborg, since Raven's practically confirmed and BB and Cy are kinda the most popular. The new Ghostbusters stuff sounds fun, though. Do you think that we'll get the new Ecto-1 with those packs? I take it that if one of those Ghostbusters packs includes Holtzmann that they won't be doing that thing they did for the original Ghostbusters where one Peter Venkman figure unlocked the whole team? Because Melissa McCarthy's character seems like the main character in this one, so she'd have to get one, right? Speaking of, I really wish they'd release some characters in different formats. Like Peter Venkman, you'd need four of him to get the whole team of Ghostbusters on screen at once, right? So why don't they, in this new wave, release either another member of the original team with the same ability or a Peter Venkman figure as a Fun Pack, so you can actually do that in a way that makes financial sense? They could do the same thing with the Doctor: make the figure different but leave the pedestal thingy the same. I imagine they could start doing something like this once packs get discontinued, but I'd really like it to happen sooner than later. Quote
