wideawakewesley Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) A bit more organized and clear for people who wanna make lists and guesses and wahtnot. BOTTOM ROW: Slimer - Ghostbusters OR The Riddler - DC Superheroes This is my first post, but loving the forum and can't wait to find out more about Lego Dimensions. My kids and I are Lego mad, although I think all of you have us beat! Update: There's been a few comments on the video suggesting I've used just2good's work without giving credit. For transparency, I genuinely hadn't heard the name just2good before someone commented. I immediately investigated and found he has a youtube channel with a video along the same lines and is a member here. I can with 100% honesty state I did not knowingly duplicate his work, but I have reached out to him to say thank you in case his efforts did inspire/inform our video (https://storify.com/wideawakewesley/lego-dimensions-conversation). I've also asked the channel owner to ensure we thank just2good in our video description as a sign of good will. Eurobricks forums and just2good are both new to me and he's obviously a dedicated Lego fan that works hard on his videos. Edited April 18, 2015 by wideawakewesley Quote
Master_Data Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 It's Minas Tirith. Notice the white tree on the left of Balrog. Thanks- I had no idea what that was. I thought it was a fountain/statue in the Hogwarts courtyard. Oh well...at least we get more LotR! Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 It's Minas Tirith. Notice the white tree on the left of Balrog. Minas Tirith AND the Balrog? Lego sure knows how to troll its fans sometimes. Quote

Dorayaki Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) Uhmm.... It's probably just me, but I feel like the predicted roster doesn't meet my expectation that it could make a considerable leap from TLM1. In LEGO's original theme category, the only new theme (not used by TLM1) is Chima (as a major TV series, it deserves, even if it ends this year) and many mainstream LEGO themes are still absent here. Considering that the size of roster could allow a better diversity, I'm not sure if all main characters from TLM and NinjaGo are all added in the initial wave is a good marketing strategy. With that said, LEGO seem to focus more on the new licenses. Acquisition of licesnes is not what LEGO can really control, but the new exclusive licenses seem controversial. They weirdly relate to Ideas' core fanbase (if Portal Chell is true) but also relatively dissapoint Ideas voters and project owners who would like to realize their dream as regular sets more. Hope that LEGO would adjust this one day. The lack of Nickelodeon themes (which currently work with MB) might dissapoint some other loyal fans. Unlike the ongoing Disney themes for regular sets, Nickelodeon once played a big role and now dissapears from LEGO's marketing view. Simpsons and Scooby-Doo are both pretty reasonable additions, since they're not just LEGO's new aquisition, but are also classic cartoon licenses that deserve a role. One point to note is that, CMF characters (including the ones from TLM1 series) played a key role in TLM1. But now since this game doesn't go with CMF, the diversity of LEGO's original representives would be relatively weak. I think it could be better if the game categorize the game roster into two groups, original and licensed so that it could make good competition and balance. Edited April 18, 2015 by Dorayaki Quote
wideawakewesley Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Uhmm.... It's probably just me, but I feel like the predicted roster doesn't meet my expectation that it could make a considerable leap from TLM1. I love the breadth of licenses involved, especially considering the likely enforced absence of Disney properties. There really does seem like there's something for gamers of all ages. The possible inclusion of Chell from Portal would be huge for the game as a crossover for gamers who don't normally buy the Lego games. I'd love them to try and incorperate different figure types in future and broaden the universe out to support the Friends/Elves figures and maybe even Mixels in some fashion. My greatest wish though is to see The Goonies Lego Ideas set brought to life in Lego Dimensions. I will beg Arthur Parsons (TTGames) until I'm blue in the face to get that! Quote
8BrickMario Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I love the licensing, but I think it misses the object of the game: to simulate the crossover play style. One reason is that there's some new stuff that wouldn't have been available or will not be available (Balrog), and that the only in-house themes are the ones with TV series. That really shrinks the crossover aspect of it. Quote
Dorayaki Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) I'd love them to try and incorperate different figure types in future and broaden the universe out to support the Friends/Elves figures and maybe even Mixels in some fashion. While Mixels probably work, the mainstream action figures are quite tricky due to the difference of figure size. I always believe that action mini-figure could work with the oridnary minifigures, however the new rebooted BIONICLE hasn't introduced mini-figures so far. Otherwise, BIONICLE should have a place in such kind of game. (Hero Factory could be Chima's counterpart, but it ended abit too early to enter this game).Retro characters are also welcome additions. Beside Johhny Thunder, a Fabuland figure would be very interesting addition. My (perhaps unnecessary) concern is that whether LEGO believes that TLM could cover all LEGO themes so that theme representives don't need to be considered. Emmet, despite looking like an ordinary City figure, is a very storywise character. Bad Cop is also not a regular City Police member. Benny seems to be the only one that particularly relates to the retro Space among the TLM team. Of course, there is no ordinary heroine character that could cover Friends :p. I love the licensing, but I think it misses the object of the game: to simulate the crossover play style. One reason is that there's some new stuff that wouldn't have been available or will not be available (Balrog), and that the only in-house themes are the ones with TV series. That really shrinks the crossover aspect of it. That's quite reasonable. Yes, the targeted market this time are video game fanbase and probably couch potatoes who are inclined to licensed materials. DC Supeheroes and LotR both take the advantages here. TLM and NinjaGo also dominate the current LEGO media series as a common point. But again, as a "LEGO" game, it's kinda missing the point for physical LEGO consumers. Now it's a "crossover between licenses and media" more than "crossover for real LEGO". Besides, I wonder if Undercover didn't meet LEGO's expectation in sales? In Disney Infinity's case, Marvel Supeheroes don't really steal Disney heroes' spotlights, however Disney heroes are also popular TV/film superstars themselves, unlike most of the LEGO's characters with no cartoon advertising. lightningtiger Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 It appears that anything with a Warner Bros. connection might become part of the game. That fuzzy image of the minifigs......I could only make out Bart.....picture it Bart teaming up with Scooby, Batman and Doctor Who to help save the day ? Quote
wideawakewesley Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I wonder if Undercover didn't meet LEGO's expectation in sales? I'm still shocked that hasn't been ported to other platforms, I would have thought any exclusivity deal for the Wii U would have long since ended. If the port is simple, it'd be a good way for TTGames to make some extra revenue. Would be fun to see some of the characters from that game make it into Lego Dimensions. What do all of you think about the toy pad not having holes for studs on the underside (at least that's my understanding)? Seems like a missed opportunity for Lego fans to create crazy designs in which to embed the toypad and portal. I'm also intrigued by the ability of the toy pad to support seven RFID connections and the technical reason why you may need to put a figure on the raised disc part for it to be detected, if the whole toy pad is RFID enabled. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 No idea, but I've been wondering whether there might be some sort of possibility of using the pad outside the game - in conjunction with MindStorms materials, for example. I'm sure persons more tech-savvy than I am will at least try to hack something out of it, if there's no official out-of-box support... Quote
legofanatic12 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) I think the Yeti from Series 11 is a basic figure for its base. Maybe it is possible that the Minifigures theme will be in LEGO Dimensions soon since it was confirmed that all the figures are removable from the base. Edited April 18, 2015 by legofanatic12 Quote

On the subject of undercover it was full of Nintendo references and featured Nintendo characters. The gamepad also restricted it from being used on other platforms. Quote
legofanatic12 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) If City will feature in this game, maybe we will getting some missing minifigures from LEGO City Undercover such as Rex Fury, Natalia, and Ellie Philips. How about Maxwell and Lily from Scribblenauts? They should be in this game since Scribblenauts was owned by WB. Edited April 19, 2015 by legofanatic12 Quote
8BrickMario Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I doubt so. Scribblenauts is not a WB franchise, just something it owns. There aren't any movies for it, either. Not to mention that Maxwell's abilities couldn't be done justice by the TT gameplay format. Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Wait, are you guys saying that we have confirmed Portal sets?? Like that is actually Chell from Portal in that picture?? Because I was shocked to see Wizard of Oz stuff show up and if there is Portal involved it would make all of my dreams come true?? Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) Confirmed themes and franchises: NinjaGo The LEGO Movie DC Comics Middle-Earth The Wizard of Oz Back to the Future Very likely from what's known / all but confirmed: Legends of Chima Doctor Who Ghostbusters Jurassic Park Scooby-Doo The Simpsons Plausible guesses, from extant themes that fit: Elves Harry Potter I'm personally inclined to view any theme guesses outside these with some skepticism (even the ones I've made myself), but there will undoubtedly be some. just2good Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Legend of Chima Move this to very likely- those character outlines are clearly Cragger and Laval. Quote
Master_Data Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Jurassic Park should be in the very likely category based on the Dino on the shelf in the extended trailer. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 They're just my personal judgements, nothing official, but I think you might be right; I've also added Doctor Who, based on the Metro report. Quote
Master_Data Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I dont think Chell is in the game. Agreed. I don't think they'll pull out a second new license for this game. Wizard of Oz was already a surprise; I don't think they will do it again. Hopefully that character everyone thinks is Chell will be from an in-house theme. Quote
