Compilation of video games like Spy Hunter and Mortal Kombat. You have a link to the wikipedia page earlier in this thread. I really couldn't predict this though.

The original trailer featured arcade units for Defender and Robotron. Looking at games featured in Midway Arcade, I'd love characters from:

Gauntlet

Rampage

Mortal Kombat

Ooh... I should have known that was a hint, especially since the donut, Ghostbusters device, and Lego Superman set in the background were all hints.

that taking apart stuff? how does that work? is it a setting in the game? i mean how does the chip recognize if the build is rebuilt or not?

Also the Chibi Vehicles in game, are they EXACTLY the same as the Mini-Builds IRL (Thus Ridable) or not?

The clip with Wonder Woman shows her riding all three variations. On the technical side, I'm still trying to find out. I hope it's not a clunky choice you make in the game when you put a rebuild on the base.

Each gadget and vehicle has three instructions booklets pre-downloaded into the game. You aren't making your own creations, you're simply changing the vehicles with the included instructions.

Apparently there's also a function where, in order to accomplish certain tasks, you have to move the minifig to a different position on the dimension gate. Quite an interesting interactive feature that hasn't been previously seen.

I always thought Mortal Kombat is too violent for LEGO, but I can't imagine any other Midway Arcade characters in game.

Aside from Mortal Kombat, some other Midway video games like Satan's Hollow and Total Carnage has anything that are against the LEGO Group policy such as military, religion and politics.

OMG if its Mortal Kombat or Paperboy I will FREAK!!!

I already have some MKX purist figures in the making.

It would be perfect. :excited::drool:

But it probably won't happen. Paperboy would be great too tho.

There's an interesting article on the game here discussing the development, the goals, etc. one tidbit I found particularly interesting:

I knew from the start that I wanted to have many different LEGO themes combined into one game, and from a gameplay point of view, mixing the worlds together was very important. I went through several different approaches at first, including one where the "villains" of the piece were finally revealed to be the original LEGO family set from 1974 who were angry they had been replaced by minifigures.

Elsewhere, various articles discuss the multiple builds and their in-game uses; PC Mag notes the Batmobile variations, along with how one gets further instructions:

For instance, the Lego vehicle bricks that come in the Starter Pack can be used to build a Batmobile that lets you activate accelerator switches. Then, you can re-build your Batmobile and transform it into a Blaster, which adds a sonar gun that can break bricks (above). Finally, you can transform it once again as the Sonic Batray, which adds a special missile barrage attack.

Once you earn a building achievement, you'll get in-game instructions that show you how to use the same physical Lego bricks to rebuild vehicles and gadgets into different objects that provide new abilities.

EW's coverage, while not explicitly mentioning this, includes this screenshot that suggests the Scooby-Doo material will be cel-shaded to evoke the hand-drawn animation of the show, just as the game is apparently presenting all the stuff from The LEGO Movie in a mock stop-motion style like the movie itself (will The Simpsons get this same treatment?):

Engadget distressingly says it's not as good as Disney Infinity. They do mention Peter Venkmann specifically, though.

I'm sorry for all Infinity fans but i find it a load of Megablocks  , can't do much in the game and it's practically all the same (from what i've seen)

I'm sure Dimensions will top off both Infinity and Skylanders

I don't expect Mortal Kombat, lots of face ripping and spine breaking for Lego

And for me as well, played the game once and everytime a slo-mo kill came i felt it in my own body,

Rampage World Tour.... I can see that being included... a real retro classic, that is about smashing buildings and stuff... that's what Lego TT games are all about!

Paper Boy would be class too.

First post on EB, as the anticipation of Dimensions coming out has caused me to finally join. Really looking forward to more of the details of this game coming out.

Yeah, the Engadget writer's appraisal of LEGO Dimensions as the lesser game appears to be predicated upon the gameplay being similar to that of other LEGO games that TT has done over the years, as though that had somehow ceased to be fun. The writer almost seems to think of games as fashion, or something - "it's like something from years ago, therefore less good!" Whatever...

I like the Scooby-Doo aesthetic. Very clever! Especially since visitors gain the cartoony look!

The Engadget article does at least offer intriguing new additional info:

A stage where Scooby-Doo's meddling kid friends try to break into a haunted house is accompanied by scratchy jazz and audio hiss-soaked dialogue that sounds like it was ripped right from the show in 1969. Like Scoob's perfectly animated floppy walk, though, the audio is all new, just like the rebuildable toys you can place on a glowing platform to make them appear in the game.

You beat me. Rampage is my hope for the midway property.

I would have to assume that since some classic arcade games were shown in the announcement video as teases, those particular games would likely be some of the ones in the game. That gives us Defender and Robotron 2084 (!), it seems...
