If Disney bought LEGO and included their characters in LEGO Dimensions they'd make a fortune.

Disney is never going to buy Lego. That idea gets floated all the time but not only would it be bad for Lego (which would suddenly have a heck of a lot more trouble negotiating licenses with Disney's competitors, including Warner Bros.), but it'd also be bad for Disney (which very well might similarly have trouble working with Lego's competitors, including Mattel and Hasbro). It's a lose-lose situation.

That said, now that Disney Infinity is kaput, there is absolutely nothing stopping Disney characters from being included in Lego Dimensions even without having ownership of Lego (besides the obvious factor of the time it takes to work out the licenses and put products to market). If Lego Dimensions extends beyond the planned year three (or possibly even if it doesn't), it may well get a chance to incorporate Disney characters and franchises.

Why not simply ignore the tweet then? They probably get like 500 tweets a day.

Same, though I'm also reeeeally hoping for Classic Ben 10. That was one of my favorite shows and the reboot feels like a giant betrayal.

I'm surprised Nexo Knights isn't there already, it's the new Ninjago and seems to be going strong, though I haven't actually seen it yet nor have I been following news on it.

I feel like Ben 10 would be a perfect fit if it weren't for one thing: Lego's suit wheels only have 8 slots. If they could somehow kick that number up to 10, they could totally include each of Ben's aliens, since they all have applicable features. They'd probably go with the rebooted version, since that would make the most logistical sense, but I could see them adding in elements from all 5 shows (if they don't make a time-travel area that involves Ben 10,000 or at least Alien Force Ben they're out of their minds). I wouldn't be too surprised if we saw Ben join Dimensions next year.

Steven Universe is a much less likely, though, for two reasons:
1. The designs don't lend themselves to minifigs very well at all.

2. Cartoon Network seems to treat Steven Universe as a more mature IP from a marketing standpoint. All of the merchandise for SU tends to lean toward clothing, blind bag figures, plush toys, the sorts of things you'd expect to find on sale at Hot Topic or FYE. Adventure Time and Powerpuff Girls are both pretty toy-heavy shows. Once Steven Universe gets an action figure line, though, that'll change things.

I'd love a South Park Lego Dimensions, but they'd probably need new molds for short stubby mini figures and round heads.

Plus they'd have to heavily tone down EVERYTHING and get rid of half the cast.

1. You could say the same for Adventure Time and PPG, but they still got on. Plus, I've seen some fun concepts for LEGO SU and they look perfect. If I find the link I'll show you it

2. Remember, the Simpsons is an adult cartoon (albeit probably the easiest to tone down ever) and a lot of the franchises like Gremlins and A-Team haven't had (official) merchandise in years, plus SU is probably gonna fill Adventure Time's shoes once it ends.

I find it unlikely they'd ever touch South Park... though I also felt the same about The Simpsons, The Big Bang Theory, and Gremlins). Still, though, South Park feels a farther stretch than any of those others.

Gremlins actually has had official merchandise in recent years. It's not a huge merchandising thing like Star Wars, and never will be even if it gets new movies, but in recent years it's had action figures, vinyl figures, t-shirts, and even Christmas sweaters.

Steven Universe I could see happening, based on what I've seen of the show. That's not to say it's likely, but I do think it has a much better chance than South Park. And I'd certainly personally much rather have Steven Universe than South Park.

I don't think the characters not translating well to minifigures is really the case. While obviously any translation to classic minifigures might leave something to be desired thanks to the diverse body types in the show (particularly for the rail-thin Pearl), I think custom hairpieces and decorations would still go a long way toward making the characters recognizable. I definitely disagree about Cartoon Network treating it as a "more mature IP"—while they're pretty late to the game on merchandise in general (though toys are on the way), it's still very much a kids' show and is marketed and promoted as such. Beyond that, a lot of the IPs represented in Lego Dimensions are ones that you're less likely to see in your general toy aisle—look at Portal, Fantastic Beasts, and any number of the classic '80s franchises that have been added to the game. I do think its inclusion in Year 3 is not entirely unlikely, especially if (like Year 2) Year 3 focuses almost entirely on newly added franchises.

In my opinion Steven Universe designs could work extremely well in Lego, just look at these:

Those are amazing! Not sure how I feel about the super long "Toy Story" legs for Garnet, though—while she's certainly statuesque in the show, she never struck me as THAT out of proportion compared to your average adult character.

I also was thinking today that while it obviously wouldn't be my ideal solution (considering that I'd want physical figs of as many characters as possible), it might be easiest to just do a single level pack with Steven (with Greg's Van and Lion as mini-builds), and have the other Crystal Gems playable with Steven's figure, like with the Ghostbusters figures. The counterpoint (apart from wanting the figs, obviously) is that the Crystal Gems have more discrete powers than most of those other multi-character figures. But then you're left with the question of what sort of mini-builds each of the other Crystal Gems would get... Pearl could maybe have her Pearlbot, or the Universe Mach 3, but Garnet doesn't really tend to "do" vehicles, and Amethyst is more likely to just turn into one than anything else. :P

Half the cast, huh? Do you think it'll be Trey or Matt that gets the boot?

The difference is in how drastic the designs are from one another. New molds are one thing, but it'd be hard to translate just about any Steven Universe character directly into Lego form.

I'm not saying that mature cartoons don't or can't have toy lines, I just mean that Cartoon Network doesn't seem to want to give Steven Universe one because of its less "8-12 year old boys" market. They tried action figures with the likes of Adventure Time and Regular Show and they didn't do nearly as well as they need to (not to mention Young Justice's absolute failure of a toyline) and it seems like they're trying to move away from that for those sorts of shows. Adventure Time is an exception because of how the audience shifted, starting with a massive Hot Topic crowd and now being left to the usual 8-12 target audience. It's not as unlikely as most themes to make it into the game, but I'd say it's still too unlikely for anyone to get their hopes up over.

Steven Universe Lego (conceptual fan art) by GingerBaribuu

Oh wow, okay, I stand corrected. These actually look pretty rad. It actually does bring up another question, though: with color being such an integral aspect of the show's style, would they be making parts in new colors? Amethyst could get away with a lavender and Pearl would be fine in white, but I don't think I own a single brick that's close to Garnet's official skin tone.

did anyone notice all the lego dimensions references in the lego batman movie?

I imagine not, since the movie hasn't been released yet and won't be for about two months, so few people here have seen it.

If you mean the trailers for the movie, then possibly - I'm sure plenty of us have noticed

Daleks and flying monkeys

there, if that's what you mean.

That sketch seems to use Bright Reddish Violet, which I'm sure would do fine (having tried to make SU MOCs before, color matching can be a challenge due to the show's use of dynamic lighting, but Bright Reddish Violet seems to be a good match for her post-Season 1 design).

I agree. I know it's based on her Deathly Hallows appearance, but I always think of Hermione in her school uniform given how much of a dedicated student she is. I mean, Hermione's the one who read so much about magic before starting at Hogwarts that she knew everything already! If anything, it should be her in the school uniform and Harry in casual clothes.

I think that she looks terrible.

They could do a thing similar to Iron Man's armor from LEGO Marvel Avengers where it's a custom set-up. I imagine the Omnitrix could project out 5 character tiles on each side of the screen.

Also I disagree entirely that SU figure's don't work as minifigures- there are a number of concepts that prove otherwise. For example:

That wing design for Lapis is pretty ingenious! I'd imagine only the 3 main Gems and Steven would be physical figures, but the rest of these would work really well in digital form. I feel like the abundance of new hair molds is a little too optimistic, though, even with the digital figures.

The Gems would fit really well with the games abilities, though. Steven would have Shield, potentially flight. Amethyst could have shape-shifting powers like Jake, Sonic's spin-dash, and grapple. Pearl would have intelligence/fix-it (she did build a spaceship out of garbage, after all), potentially arrows (her spear), and illumination. Garnet could get strength, shield (from her gauntlets), electricity (she jumpstarted Greg's van in The Message), fire resistance, and she could potentially split into Ruby and Sapphire who could use fire and ice powers, respectively. Maybe put Steven in a Level Pack (based on Gem Glow, maybe?) and do with the Crystal Gems whatever they plan to do with the Powerpuff Girls.

In the absolute fantasy world in which they give us Peridot and Lapis, too, Peri could have intelligence, fix-it, tech, and potentially magic through her ferrokinesis (or they could just introduce magnetic powers to the game like they have had in past Lego games). Lapis would have dive, flight, water, whatever that thing Aquaman can do exclusively is called, and maybe even Lantern Constructs made of water.

I like that idea for Ben, too! Then they could maybe even slip in some extra aliens! It'd be a real shame if they didn't give you one or two extra ones to unlock in the Adventure World, like the Fionna sword from the Adventure Time world.

What do you mean 'the big bang theory' (aka the best show ever) is in dimensions

I think he's just referring to the fact that they've been given the Lego treatment.

Does anyone know if you can transfer saves between the PS3 and the PS4? I might be getting a PS4 come Boxing Day so I'm wondering if I have to start over.... Also do you need to purchase PSN or whatever it's called in order to update or download the Year 2 content?
