Aanchir Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 What needs to happen is looney tunes I was thinking about this just the other day. Looney Tunes is an incredibly iconic Warner Bros. property, and while it's not as popular with kids as it once was, it remains fairly kid-friendly and timeless, much like some of the other older brands in the series like The Wizard of Oz, Back to the Future, and Ghostbusters. Hard to really think of what vehicles they might include for the more iconic characters like Bugs Bunny, but I'm sure they could either find some or make some up. I can easily picture a Marvin the Martian fun pack with some sort of rocket ship or flying saucer. Quote

Ashnflash Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I would love to see Looney Tunes in LEGO Dimensions! I think that makes so much sense since Daffy or rather Green Loontern was in LB3! Great idea! Quote
Tygurah Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I would love to see Looney Tunes in LEGO Dimensions! Yes! Take all of my yes! And since it's WB's property, there wouldn't be much problems with getting the license. I'd love to see Daffy & Bugs fun packs along with Wile E Coyote & Road Runner team pack. Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Looney Tunes would be great, and it could be another "cel-animated" world, but the problem is that the Looney Tunes don't really have a defined world. The cartoons happen wherever they need to; the most concrete location might be Granny's house! Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 (edited) That is awesome! Where did you find this information? I first read a few weeks ago about Welker voicing Venkman in the Lego Dimensions entry on Brickipedia (which has since been updated with some of the newly-revealed casting info, but which still shows Welker for Venkman). The rest I got from this article just the other day. Considering the two films and the original's greater popularity, though, I would expect that one to be the source. But while it would be amazing, all of this is totally baseless speculation, so maybe we should stop. I'd expect a movie version over book just because of recognizability. And I'd expect the older one just because of nostalgia. I mean Lego could have easily just used the book version of Oz which is in the public domain, but instead opted to use a license instead, so obviously they're banking on the popularity of that particular version of the story. I would assume that in the case of Wonka they'd do the same and pick the nostalgic version rather the book or "new" version. Though they could always do what they did with Batman and include both. Somehow two fighting Wonka's would be as awesome as two fighting Batmen... If they did use either version of Willy Wonka (but not both, as per the different Batmen), I strongly suspect they'd use the more recent, Johnny Depp version. Not only is that version more than three decades newer, but it's also a Warner Bros. production, whereas the first movie with Gene Wilder is a Paramount one. Given a choice between two different versions of the same property, I'm sure Warner would go with the one it doesn't have to pay royalties on. What needs to happen is looney tunes I suggested that weeks ago! And Willy Wonka even earlier! Edited September 16, 2015 by Blondie-Wan Quote
strangely Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 (edited) Warner bros owns the Gene Wilder one, Paramount sold it years ago. So the only royalties involved would be paid to the estate of Roald Dahl and that's true for both movies. And anyway Paramount was only the distributor, they didn't even make the movie. Quaker Oats did. Edited September 16, 2015 by strangely Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Ah, thanks; I had not realized that. That makes Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka much more likely, though still far from certain, of course. Quote
Artanis I Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Surely every kid in the world has seen the Gene Wilder version a billion times, it's on TV every 5 minutes or something. I still haven't seen the other one right through. In any case you can't go on the Internet these days without seeing this: What needs to happen is looney tunes I have been thinking this too. Hard part is all of the new moulds required for the minifigs. Quote
Actor Builder Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) I would like Planet of The Apes. I don't think it's Warner Brothers though. Edited September 17, 2015 by Actor Builder Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 No, Planet of the Apes is Fox. But so is The Simpsons, and nobody else is doing anything with Planet of the Apes in either construction toys or toys-to-life videogames as far as I'm aware, so I think it might be a possibility. If there's a major obstacle for that franchise, it might be the dark, cynical tone of so much of the franchise, but that didn't keep the original movie from being rated "G", so perhaps LEGO would be cool with it... Quote
Artanis I Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Planet of the Apes would be incomplete without Charlton Heston's voice and those ridiculously over-acted lines. Quote
Robert8 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Looney Toons would be crazy! I'd love it Quote
badbob001 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 No, Planet of the Apes is Fox. But so is The Simpsons It probably helps that LEGO has already licensed The Simpsons and it seems to be successful. I suspect that LEGO and Warner has created a specific team to handle the tangle of licensing issues in bringing anything to Dimensions. They seem to be doing a great job (or they had been working on this in secret for a long time). Quote

I wonder how many people are going to buy the game, have a hard time opening up the box and ends up returning the game on the same day. Quote

Just observe kids when they open their presents. Cardboard is no barrier at all. As for the indestructible clear plastic cases around some items, that needs parental help but still not enough to put stores out of business. Quote
Tygurah Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Talking about new franchises in Lego Dimensions.. Do you think there are any chances on some of the older Lego franchises appearing? I was a big fan of Space Police III back in the day, and from what I remember, it was selling pretty good. I'd certainly love to play as Frenzy or Squidman Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 LEGO's not including in-house themes that aren't "big-bang" themes, and themes that have ended won't have a chance. I would expect Nexo Knights to appear in Dimensions next year, though. Quote
Savage Oppress Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Wyldstyle aka Elizabeth Banks will be on the new ABC show, The Muppets, that will be premiering on September 22, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. EST on ABC https://www.facebook.com/TheMuppetsABC?fref=nf Quote
