I thought about that, but Angry Birds will be a one-off theme, and the movie will probably last for a very short time in the public mind.

Jurassic World was also (seemingly) a one-off theme, and we got a team pack for that. Not saying there will NEVER be other Jurassic World sets... but probably not until the next movie, which is just as much of a possibility if the Angry Birds movie and theme are successful.

There were actually Jurassic Park sets before, as a subtheme of LEGO Studios, so that can already be considered slightly more than a one-and-done theme, albeit one with more than a dozen years between waves.

Wait, how is the Doctor Who level accessible when the pack to unlock it isn't in the first wave?

I think he means the story level, and all of the story levels are playable

The basic story mode is supposed to be playable all the way through using just the three included Starter Pack characters, though there are lots of secrets and bonuses and awards and such that are accessible only to other characters from other packs. If you buy only the Starter Pack and no other packs ever, you may not get to play as the 40+ other characters or access the free-roam Adventure Worlds for most of the themes, but you can still experience the Doctor Who universe (and many others) in the core story mode game.

The difference with Jurassic World is that they have the Jurassic Park trilogy too that could be used for characters with a number of abilities in Dimensions. Whereas Angry Birds is one movie that A: Hasn't come out yet therefore B: How well it will do is anyone's guess and also C: What kind of abilities beyond 'flight' and (maybe for one of the birds featured in the trailer) super strength could they use for birds that are catapulted around?

Im not sure more Jurassic Park is needed, to be honest they just released a whole game for all four films a couple of months back.

Having got it yesterday, I, loving it, did the opening two levels, and had a play in Lego and LOR adventure worlds... very impressed. Feels like a culmination of all the games before. Frustrating that to do "everything" you need 14 characters, but that's something that can last a year not all be done up front so that's ok. Just a bit frustrating that on first and then second play though of the story levels i'm till not going to be able to get through the Ghost Barrier in the Wizard of Oz story level until a Gbusters pack is released!

Thankful i got a flying character yesterday too (Wicked Witch), highly recommend do that to make things easier.

PS did anyone else go to bed the first night after getting LD with the bloody Wizard of Oz son stuck in their brain!

No, however the voices that the classic space men makes in the midway arcade level is still haunting me ... I really want to figure out what they actually say :D

Every single LEGO game I've played has had this happen. I'm playing around minding my own business, when: BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP......and game is frozen and I have to unplug the system. I don't know why it happens.

Agreed. I still play The Complete Saga sometimes and it ALWAYS freezes when I play the first Geonosis level with Anakin and Padme.

Even the Doctor Who one?

No. I mean, I only have the Starter Pack currently, so I can only play through the hubs of Gotham, Middle-Earth and Bricksburg.

Anyone find it a slightly odd choice that you can't use all the characters , if this was the same lego game without the collectable figures I have a feeling all characters could be unlocked just like in all the other lego games , I was really looking forward to the OZ level because I thought I could use Dorothy , Scarecrow , Tinman , Lion and Toto but you can't even use them or unlock them for fun . Would of been a good idea for characters who don't have a collectable figure to be unlocked for freeplaying or just exploreing the worlds.

I contacted a few people who worked on the game via twiiter and they said there is currently no way to play as Dorothy and friends and there are currently no plans for any more OZ characters figures. I'm a huge huge OZ fan so I'm gutted lol.

Wait a while, and I bet they'll come. I remember someone saying something that implied that the Wicked Witch wasn't the only Oz character that could unlock the world, but she's the only one available. I can't imagine them skipping the equally iconic heroes of the film. Even Vortech might get a pack, but only be able to be used once you've beaten the story mode.

oh I do hope so , but Knowing my luck the next oz pack will skip Dororthy and her friends for the newer OZ film and give us the Young Wizard lol. But the OZ world itself it gorgeous , just have to wait and see if I get my girl Dorothy.

I dont know what to think of this video since the only "evidence" it has is showing Sonic minifigs ( could be a first mold ) of pour quality.

However it says that LEGO Dimensions 2 the sequal ( which i also find hard to believe ) will hold both harry potter , A-team, Sonic and something called goosebumps.

Any of you think it has any truth to it ?

We can't be sure, until the Year 2 franchises are officialy announced. Also the Sonic molds are fake.

Those Sonic figures are painfully fake. This is just a speculative video, and there's already been confirmation that there won't be a sequel...for a while.

I still really like the idea of Goosebumps joining the ranks, if it means we get Slappy. I've wanted an evil dummy figure for a while now. For a build, though, what could be done? The Monster Blood can? The Haunted Mask? A Horrorland vehicle?

GB is almost certainly Ghostbusters, though, since we've got to get the rest of the team.

Ordinareo and 8BrickMario thanks both of you. That was also my thought that is was nothing but speculations.

Anyhow ive been watching a lot of the videos of the gameplay on youtube and this game is insanely huge.

I thought the portals above the vorton main gateway leading to each of the team worlds were for the level packs only, but now im not so sure anymore.

But the lord of the rings free roam world looks awesome and i cant wait to se what the LEGO Movie world looks like after this.

Im gonna be spending a lot of money the 2nd of October when its finally for sale here. I was at two shops today that confirmed that it had arrived, but they couldnt sell it cause they would be fined what is equal to 10.000 US $ .... So unfair, but i had my first glimpse of a Dimensions box IRL.

Fake molds, first of all.

Second, they most likely made this video based on the, possibly false/assumed, information that was reported here earlier in the thread.

Why not?

Who wouldn't want to have Ian Malcolm fight the Joker alongside the Doctor?

There is a Goosebumps movie this year...

what about Slappy and the Giant mantis from "Shocker on Shock street"?

That would be epic!

There is a Goosebumps movie this year...still unlikely, though.

I agree. And I'd like to team up John Hammond with the 1st Doctor too.

It's always been like that, with the exception of the bonus levels and The LEGO Movie universe. Perhaps TT weren't able to render everything in bricks, or it was too distracting?

I know, the Friends cartoon series is also like that. It's definitely more work, but I would expect no less from LEGO. I am too purist for generic worlds. It just bothers me.

At first it bothered me. But i must say that the approach LEGO Dimensions have towards blending all these different themes, making each unique, like The Simpsons and Portal not to forget about Midway arcade. I now feel that its ok that not everything have been rendered in LEGO. I like the fact that each universe has it own style and approach making the whole of the game differ all the time.

That said i do however feel that more stuff could have been blocked up instead of pure textures.

In the case of cartoons like LEGO Friends, LEGO Ninjago, and LEGO Legends of Chima, the reason they can't have everything authentic to the LEGO sets is to avoid running afoul of British advertising laws, as explained in this interview.

As for the video games, it's a sort of visual shorthand: generally, things that you can interact with in some fashion are built out of bricks, while things you can't interact with like landscapes are made of "real" materials. Really, it isn't too unlike the way LEGO packaging tends to show sets in painted environments rather than LEGO environments so you can tell what's a part of the set and what's just scenery. The LEGO Movie video game was an exception, in order to fit the aesthetic of the movie.
