rob-ot5000 Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 (edited) You don't have every ability...you need Slimer for underwater sonar. Ah. Well. That may be true, and yet it still isn't helpful So far, the last minikits for "Elements of Surprise" and "Painting the Town Black" require Aquaman. But I have currently given up. It's gotten pretty boring running through these levels again looking for things I couldn't access earlier. Sometimes it's not so bad and you can skip some of the puzzles and get straight to the items, but when I finally finished the Portal main story level again, only to find that I still missed three minikits and the hidden character, even with all of the detectors on, I finally got supremely bored. Oh well. I guess I'll just finish building the Brick Bank. Edited January 27, 2016 by rob-ot5000 Quote
Koquillion Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 The starter pack dropped to 65 or so in the US right around Christmas time. Best Buy (and often Amazon, etc) have the fun packs at half-price right now. Honestly, the most expensive part is the Level Packs and Team Packs. BUT ANYWAY, the real reason I'm posting: I just picked up Sensei Wu and a Cyberman, so I finally have every ability EXCEPT the annoyingly-delayed Atlantis summon. My question is, has anyone made a list of the Atlantis pool locations? I'm going through the game again, trying to finish up minikits and such and I really don't want to replay a level to get one last minikit only to find that, yep, this one needs Aquaman. If anyone is aware of such a list and can point me in the right direction, I'd be much obliged. Every gaming FAQ for Dimensions that I've found is woefully incomplete. That said, I'm playing now, so if there isn't a list....there may be one soon. Thanks! I' m probably about where you are. I haven't really touched LD much since before Christmas. I'm waiting for Aquaman, than I'm going back to it. I've left DW and GB world's untouched, apart from Red Bricks, so that I've got a couple of things to properly do with the other wave 4 releases. Also, don't forget Midway Arcade. There is pretty much a plug in point in every level for the Kids Arcade Cabinet gadget, and what they will do is not known... I quite like the lack of guides out there, it's like old school gaming, having to try and figure it out yourself! Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Yeah, the cabinet is used for several minikits, but not at all in the open world (unless Midway uses the puzzle a lot). I believe Portal 2 is one of the only worlds that can be 100% completed by Wave 2. Quote

I've got 10/10 in a couple of levels and they have still got as yet unused cabinet 'switches'. I think they do something different.. Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Oh, really? I assumed they were minikits. Perhaps I'll go back to those levels I had dismissed because of the cabinet walls. Also, I'm now a bit miffed with the programming, as the Jurassic World escort quest won't work for me. Before they reach the end, the gyrospheres will freeze in place with slight movments, but nothing will make them continue. A similar thing happened with Hans Moleman slamming into a fence and backing out for about ten minutes, but at least that one got working eventually. Quote

Make sure that anything that looks destroyable is destroyed in the gyro's path. I used to get them to the gate, then they would just stop. I then discovered a velociraptor was getting stuck through the gate behind the wall. Kill that and the quest finishes! Are you on Wii U, by any chance? Quote
TheLegGodt Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I just received my wave 3 packs imported from Amazon Germany. It was my last resort since the regular toy shops in Holland were not selling the Ghostbusters level pack and S&H are not stocking any of the new wave 3 packs. Is there a specific licencing issue with Ghostbusters prohibiting the sale in Holland? Or is there just simply less demand, is interest in Dimensions waning (I am concerned that may be the case)? Anyhow it's annoying that you can't rely on getting all the latest Dimensions packs on their release date trough the regular channels. Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Oh, really? I assumed they were minikits. Perhaps I'll go back to those levels I had dismissed because of the cabinet walls. Yeah the Back to the Future themed Dimensions main story level has one right at the start but everything's found in it. 10 kits and Clara (Clayton, not Oswald- oh hey, both the old time travelers have a Clara) saved. Green Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Does anyone know how Aquaman interacts with his exclusive pools? Does he bring something out of it, or does it enable access to new areas? Also, do the Midway Arcade machines scattered across the levels access new areas, or just an arcade game? I just really want to see more secret Easter Egg locations. The Jetsons, Flintstones and Doctor Who areas were great. Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 It would be so cool if you could use the Midway Arcade Arcade Machine to access a secret area based on the Doctor Who Adventure Games. Quote

The Jetsons, Flintstones and Doctor Who areas were great. The hint says he pulls things out of them. Yeah, I've been using the R.A.D. brick on levels now, and it's ignoring arcade machine spots, so apparently they're a stud bonus or more content will be added to the levels later. The brick till didn't help me with The End Is Tri, though. Or Elements of Surprise. Quote
HawkLord Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Anyone know why the Doctor Who and BttF Fun Packs are half off on Lego's site? Seems weird to put them on sale so soon. Quote
Starscream759 Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 It would be so cool if you could use the Midway Arcade Arcade Machine to access a secret area based on the Doctor Who Adventure Games. Ooooh now that's an interesting concept. I didn't think about the Adventure Games from the official website. But that would depend on which one of the games we are going for here. Quote
Repeter Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Anyone know why the Doctor Who and BttF Fun Packs are half off on Lego's site? Seems weird to put them on sale so soon. I was wondering this too. I got the new Dr Who set at Target, half off...thsn, walked over to Game Stop to scoop LEGO Avengers game and noticed everything was half off there, too. I've only recently picked up some LD sets, only for the minifigs and mini builds, so the whole half off thing made me wonder if this line is doing well? Also, I am both LEGO and video game fan. The games I usually play are more mature, in theme but I do enjoy some of the LEGO games. How do you guys rate LEGO Dimensions? Would an adult enjoy it? Is there any action to be had? Sorry to ask questions, but a few YouTube vids didn't really explain much for me. Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 It's hardly an action game (more puzzle-oriented) but it has a fun story and some great writing. You can tell the developers really cared about the franchises they've represented here, as well as many of their original actors. Quote

You can tell the developers really cared about the franchises they've represented here, as well as many of their original actors. I do like puzzles...and the humor in LEGO games is pretty top notch. I didn't think I'd ever be interested in this game but the various packs I recently bought has sparked a bit of curiosity. Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I think it definitely takes full advantage of the toys-to-life style of gameplay, as the toys here aren't completely about marketing. There are several puzzles that require you to move your character to different panels of the toy pad, and vehicles get in on the puzzles, too. Quote
HawkLord Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I'd say it's easily the best toys-to-life game because you can actually do something with the toy part. Skylanders and Infinity are somewhat cool little statues, but that's it. They don't move and are not poseable. At least with Dimensions you can use the minifigures and sets in your collection or just build new things with those bricks on their own. That alone sells it for me, because even though I haven't played a ton, I still get mileage from the Lego. Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Agreed. But if LEGO doesn't see sense and lower their prices, it may also be the shortest-lived TTL game. So, I'm one minikit short in The Final Dimension, and that's a hovering cracked wall with the strength-spot on its underside. How do I break it? Do I need Harley's hammer to throw at it? Oh, well. Harley and Joker are on my want-list, so I'll get around to it someday. Quote
Hulk_Smash Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I used Cyborg's big form to rip up the floor and threw that at it Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Ah. Thanks. Now Cyborg will be more useful to me than I thought, as there are also some pesky underwater gold walls which won't send me a hero anymore. Quote

But if LEGO doesn't see sense and lower their prices, it may also be the shortest-lived TTL game. Half agree. I definitely think LEGO need to lower their prices (especially on the fun packs) but I don't think it'll be the shortest-lived Traveller's Tales LEGO game so long as they keep producing Doctor Who Dimensions sets for it. That's a bit narrow-minded, but I get that the exclusive characters/new franchises are definitely a good idea for selling sets, but everywhere I go, the unoriginal ones like Laval, Gollum, etc. are still on the shelves untouched. So while exclusive characters and the new properties are definitely drawing people to the game, the prices are going to restrict people's purchases to only the select few they really want. Quote

But that's because nobody cares about The Legends of Chima and Lord of the Rings isn't that big a deal considering there's already LEGO games based on it. So long as LEGO keep releasing more Doctor Who Dimensions sets and they keep selling well, the game will be fine. Quote
