Unfortunately, he can't. :sceptic: Just tried it. Wish he could though.

Just to clarify Legolas had a vine cutting ability in Lego Lord of the Rings right? I've played Lego Lord of the Rings once at a friends house and I only completed the Fellowship of the Ring portion of the game and just about started The Two Towers before I had to go so yeah.

Yeah it sucks...

Came to my attention that a ton of people are clueless about the a lot of character's abilities. So I'll put them down here:

Any character with a sword can deflect lasers (including... Cole and Jay?)

Cole can break cracked walls (a sad amount of people don't know this...)

Bad Cop can use the purple dot scan as well.

Wyldstyle isn't the only person who can jump on those pink circled spots... Geez...

Zane can use boomerang switches...

And super importantly, what do you do when you're bathed with too many purple studs to collect in time?

Use spinjitzu! It can actually attract studs from miles away! But no one tries this...

With all due respect LegoDalekBuster523, but I think I know what the problem is here.

Everyone else is saying that whilst Doctor Who is undoubtedly popular amongst Dimensions Fans, there are other franchises fuelling the game.

Where as you're thinking there's some fantasy land where every single Dimensions fan is craving for every single Doctor Who character to be made.

I would like to see more Doctor Who packs, and I'm sure lots of other people to do. But a game like Dimensions can't survive on one franchise alone... The profits of the car brand Mercedes do not depend on one car alone. And the same logic applies here.

I'm not saying every character, I'm saying there's lots of potential for iconic characters to be released yet. I for one would be hugely disappointed if LEGO don't fulfil the licence's potential.

-Dr. Who: Yes. As fun as it would be to have more characters from that series, there is only so much that could be done in the regards to vehicles and gadgets.

Totally disagree. There's plenty yet - how about a Sontaran Scout Ship, for example, or the Skarasen? They haven't even released Bessie yet.

I'm not a Doctor Who fan and I can honestly say I have no idea who most of these people are. They wouldn't be recognisable to me or my kids or my brother and his kids. I do know who Hans Moleman is though and even a pack of him wouldn't sell.

Seriously?

If I asked any average member of the public if they know who the Silurians are, for example, they'd be able to tell me straight away.

The only recognisable Doctor Who characters to those who aren't fans are most likely Daleks, K-9, Cybermen and some of the Doctors. The tardis is a recognisable "vehicle".

Simply not true. Sontarans, Silurians, Zygons, Ice Warriors, Weeping Angels, Silence, Sarah Jane Smith, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Captain Jack Harkness are all recognisable to non-fan people and if you don't recognise them, you must be living under a rock.

Ummmmmm I just asked my friends next to me if they knew who silurians were and they had no idea. :look:

We get that you're into Doctor Who, as I am too, but to say that people who don't recognize characters from it are living under a rock is simply rude. Maybe in England it's different, but here in the United States Doctor Who isn't common knowledge among the public.

I know it may be hard to believe Dalekbuster, but there are people who just aren't Dr. Who fans, myself included. I've never heard of most of the stuff you just named. I haven't been living under a rock, I'm just not familiar with Dr. Who. To sell stuff to the majority of the public they have to stick with the most familiar and iconic characters/vehicles, which they've pretty much already done. I don't see much in the future of Dr. Who dimensions packs.

I can only assume you're joking. Doctor Who has as big a future in Dimensions packs as DC Comics and if LEGO would have to be a bunch of pudding brains not to see that.

*sigh* Either you're heavily biased toward DW or trying to get a reaction, but I will concede that Doctor Who has a lot of potential in LEGO.

However, I see no need for that potential to be realized in Dimensions. Proper sets would probably deliver much more physical content for a considerably fairer price, and it would provide the lesser-known characters to die-hard fans. A little bit more DW in the game would be nice, but I don't think LEGO would bank on characters like Vastra and the Zygons (who several members here have proven aren't as iconic) to keep sales up. They've already got new licenses up their sleeves, and DW will probably be used in sets.

Frankly, LEGODalekBuster523, I think you have to listen to what other people are saying. There might be SOME potential for future Doctor Who packs, but it's probably very limited. In the United States, Doctor Who is still fairly obscure. It's more well-known over here than pretty much any other BBC shows, but I guarantee you NONE of its characters (not even the Doctor himself) are as well-known in this country as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Joker, or even some DC Comics characters who HAVEN'T been in LEGO Dimensions like Catwoman or Batgirl. I knew absolutely nothing about Doctor Who until I was a teenager in high school, and I don't think I ever actually saw an episode of the show until I was at least 20.

In fairness, the show was on hiatus for most of my lifetime, and the only people in my entire family who were Doctor Who fans BEFORE the 2005 reboot are my aunt and uncle who live in Connecticut. But a show that only started to get mainstream attention over here after 2005 is still nowhere near as recognizable to Americans as characters like Batman and Superman who have been an unavoidable part of American pop culture for over half a century. If you asked an an average joe in America what a Silurian or Sontaran is, they'd probably either shrug their shoulders or guess that it's some alien from Star Wars or Star Trek.

 Yes it has potential, but it's clearly not mainstream enough to be the flagship of Dimensions...

Clearly there's no point in trying to argue this with you so I'm just gonna go ahead and block you so that I can get back to reading this thread.

It's a safe bet that the Flintstones and Jetsons secret levels were made accessible with the TARDIS for the very reason that two beloved pieces of American TV culture would help sell the level in the US. I can imagine that quite a few stateside Toys 'R' Us customers could be baffled by the 'old limey fruit in a flying shed' level and giving it a pass.

Back to the Future I think we're good because honestly who wants to play as Biff?

I would! I really hope they make a Biff minifig now.

Part of LEGO's minifig guidelines (I used to work as a Designer for the parks so I've read the whole thing) is that two minifigures can never be seen bullying one or the other, so... I don't know how that would work with a license character relationship like that.

Sorry man, I really enjoy Doctor Who and am currently at the beginning of the fourth season. That's three seasons in, and I only know 3/10 of those things you listed. I personally cannot wait to watch the remaining seasons, but most people I know have no interest in the show and think the Doctor's name is Doctor Who. It's the unfortunate case where there's too much source material, and there's no way it can all be covered. I know people who think "cyber man" is nothing more than a synonym for a cyborg, and people whose only experience was one episode pre-reboot.

I doubt that. They're secret areas, hopefully teasers, but not an advertised feature of the level and only an extra besides. I don't think many people buying the pack will want it for the Jetsons, they want the Doctor. But conversely, they might not be hardcore fans who want everything in the entire Whoniverse.

Even though that's kind of Biff's character anyway. Then again it can be argued that he reformed himself at the end of the first Back to the Future movie but I reckon it's more to do with Marty altering the present more than actual character development because of the fact that Biff is still kind of a bully to Marty anyway. Long story short, no. Disney owns Star Wars and Dimensions competes with Disney Infinity which includes SW.

Ya know I find this quite funny considering recently we've only just had news of a Lego game announced for the Force Awakens so yeah.

I think the Disney/Star Wars issue isn't that black and white. Most of the Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars sets were released last year, so the Star Wars theme could be available for Lego Dimensions later, for example late this year, when it's not competing so directly anymore with Disney Infinity 3.0.

I was being slightly 'tongue in cheek'...

Sales figures are beginning to come in. In the UK, LD was the 25th best selling physical game of 2015. DI 3.0 (with Star Wars!!) was 33rd, DI 2.0 was 41st and Skylander was 50th.

World Wide LD sales amount to about $150million. It is in sight of Amiibo's but is still about $300-400 million behind DI and Skylander.

Market analysts predict steady growth for DI and LD for the next quarter, but Skylander is flatlining and predicted to fall.

All in all, a decent entry into the T2L market with a good customer base to build on. Activision seem to be taking the biggest hit from LD's presence.

Sweet! Good to know that the game's near the top 20 there. That's pretty good actually.

I keep receiving reports about this discussion. Please stop steering it in this direction. If you'd like you can start a separate topic "Is Dimensions all about Doctor Who?" and I will move the posts from this topic there, but people are getting frustrated digging through your posts and people trying to reason with you when they want to have a focused discussion on Dimensions. Thank you.
