Posted March 21, 20159 yr Here's what I have so far. lego 061 by jamesjtillson, on Flickr lego 062 by jamesjtillson, on Flickr lego 066B by jamesjtillson, on Flickr lego 068 by jamesjtillson, on Flickr lego 069 by jamesjtillson, on Flickr The body was scaled off the wheels, 5571 wheels on the back and 8421 wheels on the front but I had to raise the hood by 1 stud to allow the front wheels to swing. The headlights pop up and the chin spoiler goes up as missile launcher opens (between the headlights). I still have to do a periscope and the entire back end (where the props and rudders fold out). The hardest part will be getting the 4 stabilizers to pop out just above the wheels arch covers. Edited March 22, 20159 yr by JamesJT Embedded video
March 21, 20159 yr When I sae the picture first thing that came out of my mout was WTF: A good type of WTF! Its so clean and tidy!
March 21, 20159 yr Awesome! For a second I thought you were powering those wheels and some in some crazy way being able to swing them too! Would be awesome (and impossible) for that to happen. But still, I really like it, looks really clean.
March 22, 20159 yr Wow! I love the folding wheels, and the overall look. Can't wait to see the final version. Make sure to take a nice promotional picture with a clear backdrop and I will make sure this MOC gets the attention it deserves
March 22, 20159 yr Author Thank you everyone. The car is a long way from finished as I want it to do everything that the one in the movie does. For a second I thought you were powering those wheels and some in some crazy way being able to swing them too! Would be awesome (and impossible) for that to happen. I had a design for driven and swinging rear wheels but they would have been useless as soon as they folded away. Same for steering and folding front wheels so I didn't even try making them. I hoped it would look like magic; the wheels fold up and it levitates then hovers away. You have to pick your camera angle carefully so as not to give the game away.
March 22, 20159 yr Q would be impressed. My favorite Bond car growing up! You should build the helli that he blows up too Edited March 22, 20159 yr by Graydingo
March 22, 20159 yr Great model, I was fooled the first time, I really thought the frontwheels where steered as well I miss the black stripe along the side, but it is still WIP, so I keep my hopes up I'm looking forward for new updates. And good luck with the propellors, that'll be a hell of a function to implement.
March 23, 20159 yr I had this as a Matchbox car when I was a little boy. Great childhood memory popping up here! I like the smooth bodywork and, of course, the great mechanisms. Looking forward to see more functions!
March 24, 20159 yr Great model, very nteresting function, including those hidden... Will be good to see your car from bottom
April 4, 20159 yr Author I finished the mechanism for the rear so I put the body work in place with just 2 pins and took a video. [media] [media]
April 4, 20159 yr Nice, is this the iconic amphibious vehicle in Roger Moore's 007 movie? Edit: Yes, it is, obviously! Edited April 5, 20159 yr by DrJB
