Robianco Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I did find that a bit strange Im still confused on the differences about the Death star trooper and DS Guard I think the confusion actually lies with Lucasfilm and the merchandisers. The Death Star Trooper is also the Death Star Guard and Death Squad Commander and Star Destroyer Commander. Slight worry over Nazi related issues made them change it on the original Kenner Toys to Star Destroyer Commander and gave him a grey uniform instead of a black one. Essentially they're all the same thing. Quote

Just The Doctor Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I'd like a delta squad battle pack, and a 501st with shocktrooper battle pack too. If lego don't update their battle droids soon then I will be shocked! Quote

Merc4hire95 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 A Delta Squad battle pack with updated battle droids, I've died and gone to heaven. Anyone got any ideas what the summer sets might be. I'm hoping they will try to milk epi.3 based sets some more, I would love some Wookiee sets or remake of the Mustafar duel. Quote
wesker Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 No more ROTS for the year! There's still plenty of gaps to fill with the other movies: - Trade Federation AAT - Flash Speeder - Bounty Hunter Pursuit - Mos Eisley Cantina - Cloud City - Cloud Car - Dagobah - Imperial Shuttle - Tusken Raider Encounter - Imperial Star Destroyer - More TIE variants - Royal Starship - Trade Federation Landing Craft - Medical Frigate - Hoth Ion Cannon We also need a Naboo Forces battlepack. The last time we got a Naboo Soldier was back in 2000. Quote

Just The Doctor Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Aqua Droids and a jedi temple would be great! I'd also like an updated MTT, I have only got 1 normal battle droid, and he came in a promo set! Edited December 6, 2013 by Just The Doctor Quote
MonkeyCrumb Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 If you've noticed, Lego's plans had largely been revolving around the previously posted (and aborted) attempted effort to get 3D versions of the trilogy in theaters. We started with Episode I, then even though Lucasfilm cancelled Episodes 2 & 3 in 3D, Lego still followed the planned release dates/pattern. This is in terms of the PT, since they were not about to abandon the OT for three years since it still sells better than PT merchandise. BUT because of this I feel they were holding back on their "A+" efforts for the OT, and are just in the past year or so going back to their original intent of just releasing the good stuff without "holding back" for the 3D theatrical releases. The love that ROTJ has gotten in the past year (to coincide with it's 30th anniversary) has been fantastic! But, what's next? Do we continue the release order pattern? Do we get a deluge of A+ Episode 4 stuff next? It follows their plan of getting Ep1,2,3, then 4 out, but we just got quite a bit of Ep4 with the TIE, Y-Wing, Droid Escape wave. I think ToyFair 2014 in February will tell, and I suspect we'll get a strong OT push, and I think it'll be ESB's turn at bat next. Cloud City definitely needs some love! We need an updated Classic Lando for sure, and some Bespin Guards. Quote
Inzane Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 - Trade Federation AAT - Flash Speeder - Bounty Hunter Pursuit - Mos Eisley Cantina - Cloud City - Cloud Car - Dagobah - Imperial Shuttle - Tusken Raider Encounter - Imperial Star Destroyer After the recent trend of so many rehashes, you want MORE rehashes? I'd prefer to see more new original sets if possible. Not more updates to sets we've already received in the past. Quote
MonkeyCrumb Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 What's wrong with revisiting Mos Eisley Cantina or Cloud City? How many new and original sets are you expecting form 30+ year old movies that have been represented by Lego for over a decade?? Personally, I'm all about rehashing older Minifigures in need of updates (Greedo! Tuskens & Jawas) and rehashing sets that would get us new minifigures (Cantina, Cloud City) along with said updates. Unless you want the unrecognizable-to-the-general-public background ships, practically everything OT is going to be a rehash at this point. Care to share your list of never-been-done sets? Quote
Spyderlord Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Agree about the need for updates of some classic OT sets like Mos Eisley, Bespin or even Dagobah that are long overdue. But somehow, everyone seems to forget Clone Wars lately, and in my humble opinion, there is no way TLG would leave us without Commanders Cody and Wolff in new Phase II outfits, given the recent trend. Also I don't believe we've seen the last of the RoTS-based sets yet. Quote
Robianco Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Is there anything in the SW films that hasn't been covered in some way or another? Yavin is maybe the only thing I can think of... or the Lars settlement. ROTJ has been well looked after recently so I can only see Tattooine, Yavin, Bespin or Dagobah that really need sorting. I'm really hoping Bespin get's the A+ treatment over the next couple of waves. Cloud Car with pilot and Leia in Bespin Robes... Cloud City with Leia Escape, Luke Bespin, New Lando... we could split the sets into the duel, general cloud city with board room for the meeting with Vader & Fett. It's just crying out to be looked after in the same way that ROTJ and Hoth have been over the last couple of years. Give me a decent Dagobah and a Cantina with Ponda Baba, Dr Evazan and maybe a Figrin D'an band member and I'll be a happy man. Give me a £130 cantina set with 7 or more locals and I'll be ecstatic! Gives them a good opportunity to put the new Chewie in an OT set too. Quote
MonkeyCrumb Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 The biggest mistake Lego made with the Planet sets was not making one with a Cantina Band Member. I would have bought at least 7 myself, and I know many others would have bought multiples. Quote

I think they could have put the speeder that rolls past as they enter Mos Eisley... That would have done fine with the band member. Quote
legolandia Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Those Bith musicians from the Mos Eisley cantina are some of the few rare characters that deserve to become a Lego plastic reality. In fact if Lego were clever and released a cantina set that included them and a few of the other famous characters, that set would be certainly one of the biggest best sellers LegoSW has ever had. As well as that I wish that Lego started to bring out a few more capital ships of the Trade Federation, the Jedi Temple, Cloud City and a nice large size UCS Jedi Temple. And I hope that a new UCS version of the Millenium Falcon will also be released in the future. Quote
Robianco Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 And I hope that a new UCS version of the Millenium Falcon will also be released in the future. That's the understatement of the year. That came out when I was contemplating my return from the dark ages so I just missed it. I'd get it on day of release now. My biggest regret in Lego was missing out on that beast! Quote

korpen4444 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 My summer predictions: Tantive IV: Capt. Antilles, Rebel Trooper(2, lego really screwed me over with series 4 of the planet sets), Leia, R2-D2,C-3PO. Star Destroyer: Imperial commander(black uniform, 2), Stormtrooper(2), Imperial Navy Trooper(grey). Crab Droid: Cody, Utapaun, Airbourne trooper, Security Battle Droid. Tie Advanced: Darth Vader, Tie Pilot, Tarkin, DS Trooper. Rebel Ground Transport: Rebel Ground Crewman(2), Rebel Trooper(2). B-wing: Ten Numb, Lando, B-wing Pilot. Imperial Dropship: Emperor, Darth, 2 Stormtroopers. Micro fighters: Snow speeder: Wes Janson Slave 1: Boba Fett AT-ST: AT-ST driver RG: 41st Clone Trooper I expect to see most of these. Quote

I imagine epi.4 sets wouldnt start showing up until late 2014 to early 2015. I would think with the last bonus arc episode of the clone wars being released next year, they would make some final clone war based sets. That way we get updated jedi and hopefully commander cody and wolffe in phase 2 armor. Quote
Spyderlord Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) I was kinda hoping we would get the Separatists' super-tank from the episode Droid Factory, given how heavy on Geonosis TLG has been thus far... They could put Commander Cody in it, a tactical droid and few other droids as well, perhaps a Geonosian. I also hope for a cheaper set featuring new Ahsoka (I know that Mortis set would be too much to hope for but I'd settle for Onderon or Citadel one ) And it's true that there certainly will be a set featuring Commander Wolff in Phase II armor (my guess is it would be something in Republic Frigate price range), everything points towards it. We need an updated Classic Lando for sure, and some Bespin Guards. What's next? Well Lego ultimately follows Lucasfilms (now Disney's) marketing direction with what to emphasize. Chances are the 3d PT stuff was too deep into production to change quickly, particularly without anything obvious to replace it. So they let it roll. We should have reached the end of that with this next release, so anything from here on out is probably based on Disney's new directions. The likely pattern will look something like this. 1. Rebel's, expect at least one wave to focus heavily on the new Disney XD show. Just as we saw a TCW push awhile back. We will see some new ships and some concept art based OT type ships. 2. Classic OT subjects. As Disney heads towards the new movies expect them to make a push for people to remember and associate with the OT. Particularly the core stuff that is expected to make at least a cameo in the new films. I would think we will see not simply OT subjects, but some new interpretations of core OT subjects. Maybe a new MF, XWing and Tie. That sort of thing. Heavy focus on the original main cast. (A movie about Han and Leia's kids will probably want you to remember who Han and Leia are. Disney will care a lot less about reminding you about Clones or Jar Jar, etc) 3. Episode VII, Expect 2015 to be laser focused on Ep VII. Probably a teaser or two by summer and most of a wave come movie release. I think summer 2014 is really the last point where we may be seeing some surprises, or possibly still some PT focus for awhile. Even then I suspect that the chances of obscure PT subjects may be decreasing quickly. I also hope for a cheaper set featuring new Ahsoka (I know that Mortis set would be too much to hope for but I'd settle for Onderon or Citadel one ) Isn't she in the Police Gunship set? I forget the price on that one? Quote
