joeyl19 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 A set with Bendu. The Bendu would probably be brick built. I think it would be similar to the ent from the tower of orthanc. Quote

RetroInferno Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Is it too soon for wanting a new proper Jabba's sail barge? The newest one was such a let down build wise... Quote
wesker Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Is it too soon for wanting a new proper Jabba's sail barge? The newest one was such a let down build wise... I don't think its too soon if we're getting another Desert Skiff next year. Although I do hope the next Sailbarge release is a UCS set. Something similar to the Sandcrawler that works as both a display piece and a playset with a good 14-16 characters included. Quote
Aethersprite Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I think we're due for remakes of the ARC-170, TIE Interceptor and Bomber, and the T-65 X-Wing with the new canopy! Quote
Brikkyy13 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I think we're due for remakes of the ARC-170, TIE Interceptor and Bomber, and the T-65 X-Wing with the new canopy! The TIEs are way overdue for updates. As for a T-65, that's a bit of a touchy subject. I wouldn't expect them to release one any time soon with the TFA ones available, however there are two T-70s on the market right now (3 if you count the microfighter) meaning that LEGO isn't afraid to put a set that's virtually identical out. I didn't like the T-70's at all and I would be happy if they released a new version of Luke's X-wing with the new canopy. I missed out on the last version, still in my dark ages. There's one thing they should add in a new T-65 set: double-moulded OT Rebel pilot helmet. White helmet + trans orange visor (just like the Resistance helmets, which I absolutely love). Quote
RetroInferno Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I don't like the T-70 either, both light grey and dark ones. I also anticipate summer 2017 sets a lot, would be nice to see what they've got in stock after the worst summer wave in years. Quote
Magmafrost Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Personally I'd like to see the new canopy done away with if anything. It's not a good representation of an x-wing canopy. But if Lego cant get it right with one new custom mold, whats to say they could do better if they made another new one... What would be good to see is a new snowspeeder canopy piece, it could be used for y-wings too with different print. We might get one, too, given that the 2017 y-wing looks to have a different canopy (in the prelim its clearly using the v-wing canopy, but that could potentially be a placeholder) Quote

But all in all, I don't think it's a very good representation of the source model. I am looking forward to the Y-wing, since the last one was barely available when I got into LEGO a few years yet, and it's one of the few vehicles from the OT that I really like, but I don't have it in any form (LEGO or any other model). TheNerdyOne_ Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I don't see why the new canopy is an issue. It's a fantastic representation of the X-wing canopy, especially the TFA X-wing. Comparing it with images of the X-wing itself, the new canopy is just about perfect, I don't see why it should go anywhere. Quote

I think it's compromised in terms of accuracy, but trying to replicate the acual angles, widths, and tapers of the real thing is almost impossible if you're going to end up with something with the playability and durability that TLG demands of it's products. Within those constraints I think the canopy is pretty good, and it'll work for a T65 if they do one. I know bcause I'm working on my own MOC at the moment. Quote
Magmafrost Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 X-wing canopies get narrower towards the front. It should only be two studs wide at the front, instead its a ridiculous 4! Quote

And honestly that's a pretty nitpicky thing, overall the piece is a great representation and works perfectly for LEGO's purposes and needs. If you want a perfect representation, there are ways to build one yourself. Quote
Sucram Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 The Y Wing definitely doesn't need a new mould, it just needs the printing it had in the UCS set. Quote

Also, the old one was two studs wide at the front. And I dont think its nitpicky at all to want the canopy to be fundamentally the right shape, especially when its a mold designed to be an x-wing canopy. 16 minutes ago, LEGODrongo01 said: The Y Wing definitely doesn't need a new mould, it just needs the printing it had in the UCS set. Well, its getting one. Well, its not a new mold, but its a different one. Or maybe it is a new mold and the v-wing canopy piece in the prelim is just a placeholder. In any case, next year's y-wing doesn't use the traditional canopy piece. Unless TLG changes their mind on that, which I guess they theoretically could, but I would think the new piece would already be in production by now. Edited October 1, 2016 by Magmafrost Quote
RetroInferno Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Anyone thinks the AT-ACT is pretty much a given set for the 2017 summer wave? Quote
x105Black Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I'd like to see more variety in battle packs. Let's see Wookiees, Ewoks, and other aliens. Let's see people from Jabba's Palace or the Cantina in Mos Eisley. I guess what I'm saying is that we could have similar packs without the need for them to be centered on the warfare aspect of the universe. Quote

RetroInferno Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 The UCS Y-Wing canopy wasn't printed though, those were stickers. Quote

Its pretty good for UCS scale y-wings, for minifig scale y-wings, but system scale y-wings are like half that, a y-wing is twice as long as an x-wing. The current piece does a good job of representing about the front two sections of a y-wing canopy. A more elongated canopy would be better for Lego's smaller scale y-wings Edited October 1, 2016 by Magmafrost Quote
