Praiter Yed Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Yeah sorry about that. Although its snowing where I am so I may give it another shot. But does anyone know what size the green baseplate is? Is the whole thing symmetrical? Should it be dark bley or cream like it is in this model (yeah I dont know my star wars to well and wookieepedia didnt help)? Thanks, CB There's a clearer picture below. It looks like more than one green baseplate to me + I think it would be symmetrical apart from the tower you can see (top right of image). I always think of the Yavin base being grey - possibly a mixture of bley & dark bley BUT on some images it does look tan. Try Googling Massassi Temple. Quote

I think I will make it cream but change it later. Also from what I can see it is symmetrical like you said. Im going to go with the green bit being 3 base plates long and the grey being two (large baseplates). Thanks, CB Edit: any idea what's in the other room oposite from the one with the rebels and screen? Im stuck on that. Edited November 27, 2010 by crabboy329 Quote

I'm about half way through but am stuck on the angled sections I cant work out the finer details, can anyone help? Thanks, CB Edit: here I am so far Edited November 27, 2010 by crabboy329 Quote

I'd make it into the War Room - good luck finding images though - you might have to watch ANH for reference. But that would be a pleasure of course EDIT: Looking good so far! I'm not sure what you mean by 'the finer details' Edited November 27, 2010 by Praiter Yed Quote

What does everyone think so far? Thanks, CB Edit: I mean i cant get the angles right in the angled wall section (if that makes sense) at the back as there aren't any pic of it . Because I dont think I will be up for it when I have finished the model . Thanks, CB Edit: progress Hope you like it Edited November 27, 2010 by crabboy329 Quote
Praiter Yed Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Edit: progress 'snip' Hope you like it I like it. IMO this deserves it's own thread as a LDD MOC. There's probably lots of LSW fans who've seen the sketch in the visual dictionary and might miss it tucked away here in 'Future Star Wars Sets'. Plus if you're willing to share you're LDD file some might want to have a go at building it. Keep up the good work. Quote

But yeah when im done I will make a topic of it in the ldd forum so watch this space . Of course im willing to share my ldd file, I would love someone to make it for real. But I may take longer. Thanks, CB Quote

I've just got the watch tower left done (Yeah I know I said I would be quicker but I had computer problems ) apart from the midi x-wing. Thanks for being so patient guys. Should have a review up soon. Thanks, CB Edited November 28, 2010 by crabboy329 Quote
brickbuilder Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Okay, back on topic! (I think) Since ROTS came out, I've been wanting a UCS Venator, about the size of the ISD (or bigger ). I also thought of a new theme of sets that are smaller, very detailed, but not too playable. Kind of like the UCS sets, but much smaller and more affordable. Something like all the AT-RT's on here. Maybe there could be one every wave, or every year, like the midi sets. I also think these sets could be minifigure scale. They could make a swamp speeder, a crab droid, a BARC speeder, a 74-z speeder, a dwarf spider droid, or things like that. Of course I don't know how successful this would be - it probably wouldn't be. A penny for your thoughts? (by the way, my thoughts are $1.49 each, plus tax ) Quote

And neither of the big UCS sets (ISD, DS2) sold well, so I doubt TLG would try it again. My thoughts are 10 parts per dollar plus shipping and handling. Quote

Well the Imperial Shuttle was almost 10 cents per piece, take away the figures and it would be. And that has almost as many pieces as the ISD. Although I think that if a Venator is as big as an ISD, then it would have more pieces. I just want an accurate Venator, I guess. (my 8039 was spare parts after a week ) Quote

(my 8039 was spare parts after a week ) Actually at the same length I think the Venator would use less pieces, since it's skinnier, has cuttouts on the sides, and has a smaller bridge; but since I think dk. red costs more tham light grey the prices would even out. I would like the two to be to-scale, which would probably put the Venator at $250-$275. Quote
Lord Embo Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) You could very easily make your own UCS Venator, but you will need plenty of time and bricks to be able to complete it. And then you need to make the card for it. After all, every UCS set has one. Lord Embo Edited November 29, 2010 by Lord Embo Quote

We're discussing wanting it as a future set, since that is the purpose of this thread. Personally I don't build much over 2 feet long, so a UCS Venator might work well for me. Quote

It would be an interesting sight to see when you think about it. Lord Embo Edited December 4, 2010 by Lord Embo Quote

StoutFiles Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 How did you make that image? (more specifically, the image of the ship behind the words) Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 How did you make that image? (more specifically, the image of the ship behind the words) I did one before just to try, it basically amounts to using a photo editor to create an outline of the MOC, use curves and levels to recolor it, and turn everything other than the outline black or transparent for pasting onto black. Brickdoctor Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 The cutouts are what I refer to. It would take more bricks to make those. But since the Venator is skinnier than the ISD, it'd be like cutting out a portion of the ISD, using the bricks saved from the VSD being skinnier to cover up the cutout, and saving whatever pieces are left over from the cutouts and skinnier profile. I guess it would even out if you want a dorsal landing bay. Quote
Lord Embo Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) Why don't they make a set based on that vehicle that Cad Bane and Todo 360 used to get through the swamps as they hunted for Ziro? Minifigs: Cad Bane and Todo 360. Also includes a swamp-coloured baseplate with swamp in the middle and land at the sides of it. Sorry if this idea is rather unclear. I'll just call it a Swamp Skier instead. Lord Embo Edited December 1, 2010 by Lord Embo Quote
