Is it remotely possible that in 2013 TLG will release a 501st clone battlepack? Or some other Episode 3 clone battlepack? Because I'm sick of the CW Clones.

I guess anything is possible until the clone wars runs into episode 3 and we start getting ridiculous sets.

UCS Light on Darth Vader's Control Panel

1000 pieces, all trans red with numbered bags for each page.

"Reenact your favorite scene with this life sized control panel light."

In short, no I don't think we'll get that any time soon (2013)

Is this meant to be a joke? Why would anybody ever buy a set like that for any reason but MOCing purposes?

It is a joke

Just saying that if they made a set for EVERY SINGLE THING in Star Wars. It would turn out goofy like that.

I have been fantasizing about when the series will make the armor switch, that would mean phase 2 clones in the BPs, and other sets. wouldn't it be amazing? :cry_happy:

I also think we WOULD get 501st clones, because that legion is the most seen in the show!

As long as we get the UCS Lobot set first!

What about 7655?

I was a bit skeptical about things like that but then when I hear about all the new minifigs TLG is throwing around these days, it wouldn't be to surprising.

Let's hope for a new Y-Wing.

The Y-wing was a 2007 release, so I think other sets like the TIE/in are due for remakes first.

I agree, I just want the regular old run-of-the mill Tie, no weird EU Tie.

The TIE/in is your standard no-frills classic OT TIE.

Actually, that would be the TIE/Ln. The TIE/In refers to the TIE Interceptor.

Anyone else here think a Providence Destroyer playset (in the style of the other 4 'large ship' playsets) is long overdue?

Could contain:

Dooku (with 'removable' head and hands, of course)

Grievous

Anakin and Obi-wan

Palpatine tied to a chair

Artoo

Perhaps various battle droids, droidekas, Neimoidians, etc.

And I'll have you know that 'weird EU TIEs' aren't any less weird than some of the shuttles we're seeing in the Neo-Clone Wars these days. (That Pelta thing is ugly!)

Oh, I guess since the 'L' is usually written in lowercase I assumed it was a capital 'I'. probably because my browser font is permanently set to Trebuchet MS, which I find easiest to read and renders the 'I' and 'l' essentially the same. I'd actually wondered about that fact, since 'in' always seemed like it should go with the Interceptor. (which I now know is because it does )

And if the Pelta is ugly, then the Nu is uglier, the Super Tank is ugliest (and has a lame name), and Ahsoka is in a league of her own.

Didn't you forget what the J word said  Malevolence with ALL those figures....

I guess you're right about the shuttle. But it's harder to relate to a Tie looking thing than an ugly shuttle you see on TV

Are you referring to the TIE Defender? While not shown in the movies, it was supposedly at the Battle of Endor. I'm glad they made it.

However, the TIE Fighter is the most iconic bad guy ship and it's a joke they haven't redone the set yet.

Wait- what are the other four playsets? ISD, VSD, DS, and what?

Personally I'd rather have a Recusant, and as a UCS, than any other CIS ship. There's something about the shape that appeals to me.

Maybe the Tantive IV? Imperial Shuttle? Dropship and AT-OT?

That recusant sure is an interesting shape.

Tantive IV could count, the latter two are more play feature and less playset, if you know what I mean. Either that or maybe the Sail Barge.

I mean, just imagine a huge, three-foot long cruiser in Sep colors, simply covered in greebles...

Actually, as I've said before, I'd rather have the Executor, but still.

Although as far as playsets are concerned, I guess the Providence is the best option. A Lucrehulk could also work, though.

we need some USC clone wars, don't we? I think a UCS RAG would be amazing.

If TLG is smart they won't do that. The older collectors have the most money and are more inclined to buy OT sets, then PT, and lastly CW.

I agree, if ever there was a vehicle in the CW/PT that could be a UCS, the Republic Attack Gunship would be the best candidate. It's one of the most popular ships among fans, though considering the normal system-scale RGS is already huge, what more the UCS version?

Now this I have to disagree. Making a UCS RGS is a dumb move on TLG's part? How bold of a statement that is. True SW fans/collectors do not discriminate OT/PT/CW. UCS sets should not be judged in what era they appeared in, but on how well-designed the set is.

The four I was thinking of were the 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer, the 7655 Republic Cruiser, the 8093 Venator, and the 10198 Tantive IV.

As amazing as the Recusant looks, I can't help but think it would be too obscure to work as a UCS. It's not like a lot of today's youth have ever played Republic Commando.

Lucrehulk... nah.

I don't think the Nu-class shuttle (or any of the Neo-Clone wars ships, for that matter) have quite reached a status worthy of a UCS set, and frankly I doubt they ever will. The only Clone Wars ship that even comes close is the Venator, and even then that ship isn't nearly as iconic as, say, the Devastator or the Tantive IV. (It's not like the one in the opening scene of Sith actually did anything pivotal. I mean, I don't even know its name!)

You have to remember KielDaMan that some of us who have been into the franchise before 1999 have different definitions of Star Wars, some of which may exclude the Prequels. I know there's at least one person who refuses to believe in the events of Episode II. But then that goes into the debate of what one would define as a 'true' Star Wars fan.

I'm sorry if this is a bit off-topic but it's just that I'm fed up of OT fans who keep on discriminating PT/CW. I know they have the right to say what they want to say, but taking cheap shots at CW whenever they can is really irritating me. One member humbly suggested a CW UCS set, then an OT fan is quick to declare it as a dumb move on TLG's part, what the heck is with that? Why do I have this feeling that strictly-OT fans are a bit of elitist? I am a fan of all OT/PT/CW, everything about the SW, even the EU stuff that I'm not very familiar with I try to understand and accept because it's part of my passion - Star Wars. I just can't understand how some people choose to live in the past, get stuck in the classic years of OT, and refuse the inevitable change in the franchise.

End of rant. (Sorry once again for being off-topic, just got to release that)

I suppose this means I now have to choose a side?

I'd have to say, a UCS RGS would not be a bad thing. I'm an OT fan, not a PT hater. (okay, I'm probably close to a CW hater, but I think CW isn't PT) Either way, I'd like to see what TLG could do with a UCS RGS, provided it was an AotC one. I probably wouldn't buy it, but I'm sure some AFOLs would and I'd still like to see if TLG could pull off a really nice design worthy of the UCS label. The problem is, and not to discriminate against PT/CW, I don't see TLG being able to sell this. They've done two UCS PT sets, and both were not the greatest value and both were not by far the most popular UCS sets. UCS sets are marketed towards adult collectors, and most of those adult collectors are OT fans. Not because they hate PT, but because they grew up with the OT and prefer the style of the OT, both in characters and in vehicles. PT is not bad. There are PT vehicles like the AT-RT, AAT, and Recusant that I like. I simply like the OT better. While I understand that there are those who love CW, and I respect their decision, I myself don't like the fact that CW has changed all of Star Wars, IMO it has deviated from the classic style I like in ways the PT never did. For one, I have yet to see a single CW story when in the end the Republic didn't emerge victorious. Minor setbacks, yes, but major defeat? No. I don't mind clones, Jedi, or RGSs. What I can't stand are characters that have been altered and become almost super heroes. The Clone Wars were supposed to devestate the Republic, kill tons of Jedi, and be something no one would want to remember. (that being what the OT described the PT as in AnH) I don't see that in CW. Anakin is now the nice guy without a trace of anger, clone commanders are super soldiers, and battle droids are punchbags who's shooting is even less effective than Stormtroopers. If CW had accurately presented Star Wars to the next generation, I think I would have enjoyed it. I don't try to put down CW, but sometimes the things it does jist have to *cough*Super Tank's name*cough* that just have to be made fun of. BTW, on the subject of the RGS, its one of my favorite PT vehicles. It's like an attach helicopter with a retro sci-fi look and a Star Wars flair to it. And it's chock full of little details that have been very interesting to see rendered in different ways in LEGO.

I'm fan of OT (for many reasons), I don't care that TLG make more and more CW sets (some are nice), but I'm sad that they make less OT sets...

But it's true that OT is a limited theme.
