two new ones:

Fighting those furry critters (aka Ewoks aka most hated creature in the whole SW-universe besides Han Solo) has 2 golden rules:

Rule #1: look cool - always

Rule#2: have an AT-AT following you closely

I just love the panic in the eye of the Ewok on the left. Run Forrest, RUN!

Hello all!

I recently got a new digital camera, and I got into LEGO photography.

Today I decided to do "some" shots, but in fact, it later turned out to be much more pics.

I'll post some deeplinks here, the rest is on Flickr.

My first "real" LEGO Photography, with Star Wars and Space Police - so that's Science Fiction photography for now:

(The following is not Star Wars, but I hope that's fine, there have been non-SW pics in here before.)

To see the rest of the Space Police Log pictures (and more of the story in the description), start from here, and continue by clicking the pics to the left under "General Magma's photostream".

Hope you guys liked my first batch of pics! :classic:

Good starting pics! For someone new to Lego photography, you've done a very good job! These two are great, mainly because of the droid. How did you make it and the decals(if there were any)? Keep up the good work!

Thanks! :classic:

And how I made the droid? Well, it all started when I wanted to make an astromech droid in orange colors.

Then I took an orange 2x2 round tile and a 2x2 round brick. Since my printer sucked, and I had no experience with waterslide decals, I decided to do hand-drawn decals.

As a reference I took one of my R2-D2's and checked what bits I needed to add on a paper strip, then glued it onto the piece.

I also painted the blue parts of the body orange, which was hard to do since these are very small things I had to paint.

The orange stripes on the sides of the legs could either be done with paint, or a small, rightly-sized strip of paper, placing it inside the small open sides of the leg with glue. It's best to use decals made on the computer and place them on the figure with the waterslide technique, but when you're unable to do that (not having the right materials like me), then hand-drawn decals are also an option. A ruler may help there, but I managed to do it without one. Hope that helped!

Back more on-topic;

As for legofenris' pics: great job as always!

The Boba Fett one is the best of the two, but the Endor one is awesome too! Very well done!

*huh*

Your Jawa better not be allergic to dust! Or did you use those pieces on purpose?

Yes, it made it feel more like Tatooine as a sand effect (like KielDaMan also said), and the vulture droid crashed many years before the remains were found, so the remains were a bit under the sand.

Thanks all!

Nice reflection in Vader's chrome

But the rest of your pics are awfully dusty.

The dust in the background in the Jawa Scavenger picture makes me want to pay you a visit introducing the dust feather and a modern thing called a vacuum-cleaner.

And also that poor sandcrawler is overly dusted :sceptic:

Do you ever clean?

I think it works perfectly fine, giving the photos a Tatooine sand effect. Nice job Gen. Magma!

I suggest real sand or corn-flour instead.

Dust is yucky!

Once dust gets on Lego, it's very difficult to get off again unless it is a set that uses the SNOT technique. This difficulty comes from studded pieces and how much they get in the way. So it makes cleaninig the bricks seem quite pointless; the dust generally returns, unfortunately.
