Hey guys!

Damn its been a long time since i've had anything to post up here, nice to see the thread still going strong

My camera died after a particular windy beach shoot (sand everywhere!), just trying to get used to my new one now. Still a relativley cheap point n shoot (but still lets me tweak the settings some).

With the new summer sets, and excellent minifigs!, hopefully have some more stuff to contribute :classic:

Anyways heres a couple of new ones-

Its a little known fact that the rebellion's first line of defense against the Wampa's attacking echo base were specially trained boxing protocol droids.

I decided to take advantage of the power outage from the hurricane the other night and tried my hand at night photography:

I used a LifeLites kit to diffuse light, and then black origami paper for the background.

Some really great photos have been coming in recently.

R8, I love that shot of the Emperor. It really reminded me of the mysterious figure from TPM (before I saw the OT), with his eyes in shadow from his hood.

Linko, fantastic Tatooine shots. The sunset lighting is really reminiscent of the film scenes, which is something I haven't seen captured with Lego before, at least to this degree. The lonely, endless desert wasteland feeling is definitely present with the dramatic lighting and long shadows. I especially like the glare on Threepio in this one. Great stuff.

Hi

@Linko:

Your arrangement is great and your colors too (sunset).

But your depth of field is pretty small, because of the small sizes of the minifigs and the high magnification. Especially when you shoot at highest aperature (smallest value) e.g. f2.8. You will get a much better look if you close your aperature a close as you can (for consumer cameras) or up to f13 for dedicated macro lenses for DSLR. You will increase this way the depth that is in focus and seems to be sharp.

Those images you have postest are looking 100% beeing images of minatures. Some photographers try to do the same with the real world by using tilt and shift lenses with a fully reverse focal plane so that the depth of field inside tha image is as small as in macro shots.

Example:

http://inkwelldesign.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/tut_ps-tilt-shift-photography1.jpg

You see how miniaturized this looks. Try the other way and increase your d o f to look more real.

It has been a long time I posted something, I really have to go on with Lego photography.

The last pics I made are these. And no, it's not off-topic, those guys are some strange Star Wars samurais on an unknown rocky planet. And the apprentice has an ARC pilot head.

This one is not really a Funny, so I'll post it here:

Bob the Stormtrooper finally graduates from the Imperial Academy. Lord Vader himself presents him with his certificate. One can only imagine his excited face under that helmet.

EDIT: Looks like Wayno already had a similar idea. I didn't mean to copy him.

Masked, I like what you're trying to do in your pic, but at the same time I would like to offer a few critiques, if I may. Since your focus is so shallow and the object that you are focusing on is so small, it's pretty hard to tell that anything is in focus upon first glance. With either a more prominent missile or a slightly different angle, the action could be much easier to make out.
