smokebelch Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 Hey guys! Damn its been a long time since i've had anything to post up here, nice to see the thread still going strong My camera died after a particular windy beach shoot (sand everywhere!), just trying to get used to my new one now. Still a relativley cheap point n shoot (but still lets me tweak the settings some). With the new summer sets, and excellent minifigs!, hopefully have some more stuff to contribute Anyways heres a couple of new ones- Did you hear something?... by smokebelch, on Flickr K-3PO & R-3PO had a strange feeling of impending doom... Put em up! by smokebelch, on Flickr R-3PO's gonna knock you out! Its a little known fact that the rebellion's first line of defense against the Wampa's attacking echo base were specially trained boxing protocol droids. Quote
Masked Builder Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Very cool stuff all round. Good to see more stuff from you smokebelch! I see you're enjoying your red 3PO unit. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Wow smokebelch, you make the Wampa look huge! Great pics. I laughed when I saw the second one. Quote
AmiPolizeiFunk Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Here's a fun pic I took of Boba escaping with his prize. Quote
happylego Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) Hi all, This afternoon y took some photos and here is the result: I remember when I was yellow More in my Brickshelf gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=482627 See you! Edited August 29, 2011 by happylego Quote
-R8- Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I decided to take advantage of the power outage from the hurricane the other night and tried my hand at night photography: I used a LifeLites kit to diffuse light, and then black origami paper for the background. Quote
Vindicare Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 -R8-, that Emperor shot is killer, well done! the last Vader is nice, too. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Nice job, R8! The Emperor one is the best, IMO. Add some slightly gleaming yellow eyes in editing and it'd be perfect. Quote
Masked Builder Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Wow good stuff everyone! R8 those are some great shots! Quote
Linko Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Excellent photos happylego and -R8- I return to this post with new photos in the beach Tatooine: I hope you like it! Quote
Masked Builder Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Great stuff Linko! That sand there really works with the LEGO scale. Quote
wokajablocka Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I love the first droid escape picture the best Linko. The sunset gives it a nice warm feeling. Great work . Quote
Oky Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Great shots, Linko! Looks like you had fun at the beach. Quote
JimBee Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Some really great photos have been coming in recently. R8, I love that shot of the Emperor. It really reminded me of the mysterious figure from TPM (before I saw the OT), with his eyes in shadow from his hood. Linko, fantastic Tatooine shots. The sunset lighting is really reminiscent of the film scenes, which is something I haven't seen captured with Lego before, at least to this degree. The lonely, endless desert wasteland feeling is definitely present with the dramatic lighting and long shadows. I especially like the glare on Threepio in this one. Great stuff. Quote
Darth Dino Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Hi @Linko: Your arrangement is great and your colors too (sunset). But your depth of field is pretty small, because of the small sizes of the minifigs and the high magnification. Especially when you shoot at highest aperature (smallest value) e.g. f2.8. You will get a much better look if you close your aperature a close as you can (for consumer cameras) or up to f13 for dedicated macro lenses for DSLR. You will increase this way the depth that is in focus and seems to be sharp. Those images you have postest are looking 100% beeing images of minatures. Some photographers try to do the same with the real world by using tilt and shift lenses with a fully reverse focal plane so that the depth of field inside tha image is as small as in macro shots. Example: http://inkwelldesign.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/tut_ps-tilt-shift-photography1.jpg You see how miniaturized this looks. Try the other way and increase your d o f to look more real. For more infos on depth of field and the caculation of it goto dofmaster.com. Dino Quote
intimmydation Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Hello everyone, I'm new to the site as a member (been a stalker for a while) and finally got my new macro lens so decided it was finally time to join up. Lots of amazing photos in here. Quote
Bane Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 (edited) It has been a long time I posted something, I really have to go on with Lego photography. The last pics I made are these. And no, it's not off-topic, those guys are some strange Star Wars samurais on an unknown rocky planet. And the apprentice has an ARC pilot head. Master vs Apprentice High-res on my flickr-stream. Greetings -Bane Edited September 19, 2011 by Bane Quote
Masked Builder Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Even if I don't really count them as Star Wars the photography is nice! Quote
Lord Of The Fries Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Here's some from me: Tactical Droid on his speeder. Another Tactical Droid photo. A stormy on a rock. Just doing his daily walk. R2 on a rocky mesa. And that's it and I hope you enjoyed the photos . Quote
Oky Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 This one is not really a Funny, so I'll post it here: Bob the Stormtrooper finally graduates from the Imperial Academy. Lord Vader himself presents him with his certificate. One can only imagine his excited face under that helmet. EDIT: Looks like Wayno already had a similar idea. I didn't mean to copy him. Quote
BobThePom Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Hey Guys I just thought I would add three of my own photo's! Mando next to a tree. Mando in a tree. Speeder in the grass. Thanks for looking BOB Quote
Masked Builder Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I've been pretty inactive in this thread but here's my first shot from my latest MOC. I've got more ideas to come too! Quote

Clone OPatra Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Masked, I like what you're trying to do in your pic, but at the same time I would like to offer a few critiques, if I may. Since your focus is so shallow and the object that you are focusing on is so small, it's pretty hard to tell that anything is in focus upon first glance. With either a more prominent missile or a slightly different angle, the action could be much easier to make out. Quote
