Big Cam Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Wow, the massive amounts of stormtroopers is a beautiful picture. I love the lights source coming from the bottom. Truely an inspirational picture. Quote
fenris Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 (edited) Thanks a lot for the positive feedback, smokebelch and bigcam! At least my addiction to collecting stormies payed of as I had about 100 for the shooting... actually it was only stormie-helmets put on the glass from a picture frame. i was to annoyed aligning 100 stormies without a baseplate and only the helmets are much easier to handle... @smokebelch: I´d love to see the IG88 shot from the master... as always I´m not patient enough to make a really high-quality shot. I get the idea, take a couple of shots and it´s over...should be more patient... Edited September 30, 2009 by fenris Quote

Very clever!- i was wondering how you lit them. Here's a throne room shot with the new Luke from the Visual Directory Book- ^^^ Luke showing off his new shiny medal... Han's smirking cause he's already got a good price for his Quote
CommanderFox Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 (edited) The knew pics are great guys fenris I love that shot of the stormies heads all purple Also the Darth Vader pic is very nice! it looks like he is at Cloud City. smokebelch thats a nice pic of Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie and the droids CommanderFox Edited September 30, 2009 by CommanderFox Quote

Commander_Rob Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 (edited) Great photos, smokebelch and fenris. I always have to admire careful set up and lighting for pictues. I mostly take pictures outside because I am too lazy to put up a background and everything. Well, I have some pictures for you anyway. And I think it is time for a revolution. So far, pictures here have mostly been minifigs. That has to change! Vehicles also have the right to be photographed. So here are two: AT-AT stalking a strange, vast world of enormous grass: This AT-AT is modified by the way: new legs have been built for it, it stands a lot taller now. the motor and battery box have also be removed and an interior is on the way. AT-ST providing forward scouting for the AT-AT: This is just the AT-ST from the Endor set, no modifications. It is OK like that for now. I guess that is enough revolution for a day. Comments welcome. fenris Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 (edited) commander rob, i love those pics! vehicles are always great models for shootings, but sometimes really tricky. they look huge and the backround is beautiful (not only from a star wars point of view). i like the AT-AT pic the most - the grass at the front of the pic doesn't really give a way the size of the AT-AT... really well done! and the sky is.... today i spent some 10 minutes with gimp to pimp one of my shots. i know there are specialists around that are able to do a much better job, but for the first time i'm quite satisfied with the outcom... ...just to make it a little more realsitic... ... was a really fast edit...so pls don't be to harsh.... I mean this only as critisism, not to be harsh, but the stormtrooper pic looks great, the blaster bolts look legit, where as the AT-AT blaster bolts look very fake. I know it was a quick edit, and I don't even know how to do, so again, just an observation. Quote
CommanderFox Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 (edited) WOW nice Commander_Rob I like the AT-AT one the best Nice fenris! The added lasers look good CommanderFox Edited October 2, 2009 by CommanderFox Quote
fenris Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the criticism, Big Cam, you are right! Was not postworthy... I figured out some new tools in GIMP and tried to improve the pic: Thx CommadeFox, and thx CommanderRob (I hope it's ok for you that i'm playing around with your great pic - but it's perfect for this kind of maipulation..) You sire have improved this picture ten fold. You have sold me on this, it looks great! The green background random battle shots really help the image. Awesome work! Quote
smokebelch Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 Great shots Commander Rob & Fenris Love the AT-AT one, very cool. And nice editing on your stormie shot fenris- looks great. And I think it is time for a revolution. So far, pictures here have mostly been minifigs. That has to change! Vehicles also have the right to be photographed. So here are two: I agree- i love vehicle shots. I have had a go a a fair few of these Think the only ones i ever upped were my AT-ST/Skiff ones. Most of my indoor ones haven't turned out too great- mostly due to lack of space and the small lighting source i use. This AT-AT one was the only one i was happy with- I keep trying to get some good shots of my Slave-1, im never happy with the results though. I find the trouble with outdoor shots of bigger vehicles is they are pretty hard to transport, for obvious reasons. Lost a couple of bits of my AT-ST when i took it out. Really would love to do a shot of the Sailbarge at the beach- but be too hard to get it there! Here's one extra vehicle shot- not Star Wars (Blade Runner) but its close i guess (well Harrison Ford was in it ) The Spinner was designed by Kaitimar ,and he did such a great job i just Bricklinked the parts to make his. Commander_Rob Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 (edited) Wow, seems a lot has happened here, good to see my AT-AT is so popular. I guess it is nominated for another photoshoot. Liking your pictures, smokebelch. Glad I am not the only one to photograph vehicles. The skiff is probably my favorite of these, perfect combination of vehicle, figs, background and no visible means of support. The AT-ST is good too though. I figured I had to do some editing myself. So here is my AT-ST firing at some unseen target up in the air. Really, that is my first attempt at something like this, apart from adding lightsaber blades to a statue. smokebelch Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 Inspiried by everyone's photo editing thought id do a bit on some of mine Not quite in the same way- was having a dig through my old shots, and thought id do something with the ones i'd never upped before. These were just diff angles etc to ones i've posted in the past. Thought they made a nice trilogy of locations/ troopers from the original films- so had a play round with GIMP and came up with these- And all 3 together Quote
CommanderFox Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Lovely shots guys Love the skiff one smokebelch how did you take it and not show any supports or whatever? Nice AT-AT shot aswell love the front of it I like that edited shot Commander_Rob of the AT-ST nice! Nice shots of the 3 OT episodes smokebelch lovely as usual CommanderFox Quote
fenris Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 hi all, seems we started something new great gimp-pimping commander (as i started with editing just days ago i know how hard it is...) and really innovative concept from smokebelch... some secret material directly from lucas... you took my all-time favorite shots for that! the vehicles add a new discipline too... i think, there are many great shots waiting for us to shoot and to see here! keeping the thread alive today no gimp or photoshopping from my side, just took my new endor-minifigs out for a little endor-walk with some ideas how to own the imperials (i know there are too many pics but i tried to tell a mini-story) ...when hunters become the endangered species... ...be invisible... ...and always be on the watch... ...win their hearts and minds... ...let them take a break... ...or just let them hang around... ...one shot, one kill... Skipper 24 Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 (edited) Loving your new set of shots Fenris. I like the captions that went along, sort of like a story . The scenes just look really authentic and cool especially the Rebel shots. The ones that incorporated the string were really clever. I think I'll try some vehicle shots too. prateek Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Great story fenris I like the outcome of the upside down trooper Quote
Commander_Rob Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Nice pictures, fenris. Seems like I need to find a spot somewhere in my garden that looks like Endor, as that is obviously one of the most popular themes for this kind of pictures. Still, my garden looks more like Kashyyyk. Perhaps I`ll start a Kashyyk-craze. If I can. Quote
smokebelch Posted October 4, 2009 Author Posted October 4, 2009 Great shots fenris- really love the very last one camoflaged trooper, great DoF Quote
Big Cam Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Fenris, I love the story you have going on. My favorite picture in the set is the rebel under the green foilage, its so well set up. You have a great eye and a good imagination. You are one more reason that this is one of my favorite threads on EB! Quote
fenris Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Thanks to all for the feedback... it was such a great automn-afternoon that I had to go and make some outdoor shots... Yesterday evening - i was looking through the parts of my new endor-set, I had a new idea... TIE at work... I know, some of you will say it's TOO DARK - but IT'S THE DARK SIDE Hunting down X-Wings... CommanderFox Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Love that shot fenris And no it's not to dark! He is in space or is he in a simulater?
