Big Cam Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Very fun, glad you did. I love thr snowtrooper hanging in the snowwall. Quote
smokebelch Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Cheers for the comments on my Snow/Rebel Troopers shots... got the Icing sugar out for another ^^^ "You will go to the Dagobah system".... "Ben?!" Quote
prateek Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Great shot! How did you make Ben transparent? Quote
smokebelch Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Great shot! How did you make Ben transparent? Cheers Took the shot on a 3 second exposure, and whipped Ben outta the way half way through. Would of been a LOT easier to edit him in after, but i like to try and do stuff in camera. Didn't really turn out as well as id have liked, but it took so long to set up and i made such a mess with the icing sugar! Thought id up it anyways Quote
the lead general Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Awesome transparency smokebelch real. Quote

Maybe you'd want to make the exposure longer or take him out earlier. Quote
RileyC Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 wow ben looks awesome! The shot is really great Quote
fenris Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 long time not around and lots of great new stuff! after a pause in lego photography i returned to my favourite toys and took a new shot... Clone dispute "Look Palpi, I know you are very much into this clone-thing but... seriously... that's kind of... aaa ... I'm not too comfortable about this... you see?" Quote
Commander_Rob Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Great pictures everybody! The sugar does make good snow indeed, smokebelch, and the effect with Ben too is very cool, but I`d say for a snowy shot like this, something different from a pitch-black background might look better. I know you use that in most indoor pictures, but it kind off looks like an eerie night with full moon. And fenris: very fun picture and a good way to use all those Vader minifigs. I`ve heard that Palpatine cloned himself a few times but this... Quote
smokebelch Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 Cool shot fenris, love the multiple Vaders The sugar does make good snow indeed, smokebelch, and the effect with Ben too is very cool, but I`d say for a snowy shot like this, something different from a pitch-black background might look better. I know you use that in most indoor pictures, but it kind off looks like an eerie night with full moon. Yeah, wasn't very happy with this shot for that very reason (& wanted a bit more behind Ben to show off his transparancy). I Always use a plain piece of white paper for my indoor shots- due to the way i light most of em gives the paper a dark/black look. Need a bigger backdrop to do this shot the way i intended it (and a bigger bag of sugar ), gonna prob have another go at this one when i get a chance... need to play round with how to light it... In the meantime, here's another 'hoth' shot Something 'wampa' this way comes... "This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing!" Quote
RileyC Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Another great shot SmokeBelch. Luke looks really cool there and the Wampa looks so menacing. This shot is going as my desktop picture! Thanks Quote

General Magma Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Another great shot of yours, smokebelch! ~ General Magma Quote
PurpleBrick Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Thanks for sharing these great photos, it looks like Star wars characters are many's favorite models. Personally I also like to try mixing Lego with natural background, I am not a good photographer but was lucky to take some shots that I like by chance, the followings are the combination of my two favorites: Sunset and 7676 Quote
prateek Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 This one's amazing! I love how the sun shines through that dome. Quote
fenris Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 absolutely stunning PurpleBrick! great work. on flickr it would haven been an instant favourite!!!! keep them coming!!! Quote
smokebelch Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Great shots fenris & purplebrick- remember seeing your shots of 7676 on flickr- love the second one Well id been thinking of re-doing my Ben/ Luke Hoth shot as i wasn't really happy with the original (& i'd forgotton to swap Luke's head over as I had done in my previous post-Wampa attack shots) and here's the result- ^^^^ "Luke...You will go to the Dagobah system" REDUX Much happier with this one... thought was a nightmare setting it up!- Just as i had set it all up and lined up the minifigs the LED light stuck to the bottom of the shelf above Han decided to come unstuck and fell down knocking over all 3 figs and made even more of a mess than i had already managed with the bag of icing sugar Oh well- managed to get it set up again- though think thats prob it for the 'snow' shots for a while! Heres one more without Ben as i kinda liked how this one turned out as well- Quote
Rufus Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Smokebelch, that's fantastic. I don't know if you can do this with the form code, but if you could superimpose the two shots so that the second shows eg. with a mouseover, you'd have a great animation. Might want to move Han's Tauntaun a bit closer though. Just an idea! Amazing stuff. I wish I had the time & expertise to take shots like these. Rufus Quote
Legoman Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 "Luke...You will go to the Dagobah system" REDUX Wow. My goodness... That shot is incredible - Best shot in this thread IMO. Far out, thats true talent man! Congrats Quote

fenris Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 wow, you really managed to further improve the shots, smoebelch! great work! here's my new one: WE BRAKE FOR NOBODY (a little halloween-blood experiment) Quote
RileyC Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I love the pooling around the stormie's feet it makes a great ripple. I like the reflection onto the stormie's helmet also its really well done. What did you use for the "blood"? Amazing work Fenris! Quote
fenris Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 thx a lot! it's just fake blood from the supermarket (for halloween).. Quote
