smokebelch Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 Cheers for the comments on my shots guys Actually took ages to get this last couple of 'tatooine' shots- was sunny for once, but the location where i take the shots was very muddy and slippy due to all the rain we've been having. Was pretty perilous trying to get up the small cliff, and of corse i slipped over and slip back down again! Oh well, at least when i managed to get up there it gave the shots a diff texture to the other tusken shots id taken there. Made it hard to get down low as well to get a good angle on the shots, as was hard to get footing- being 6'4" must have looked pretty funny with me slipping and sliding about! Glad your enjoing the photos- makes it all worth while Can't wait for some better weather to get some more done- winter seems to going on forever! Quote
GalacticanLego Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Excellent photography! I really like the detail in the minifigures and the quality. they look amazing! I hope to see loads more in the future Quote
fenris Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) I've tried to recreate a scene from the battle of Hoth. General Veers, at the cockpit of his command-AT-AT orders his Snowtroopers to attack. One of the rare wins of the imperial troops. Note for all the geeks: I know general Veers has the rank insignia of a Grand Moff but it fits better than the Lieutenant (original Lego) :-) Inspired by smoky - as so often... smokebelch Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 Excellent stuff fenris I love recreating movie scenes, and this ones perfect! Quote
fenris Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Thanks a lot smokebelch... actually it's not quite 1:1 but it's still kind of art ..and as usual i was not patient enough... Quote
smokebelch Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 Thats the fun of it though, I don't think it really matters if its exactly the same as the original shot- so long as its recognisable as the scene. Its fun then to play around with it a bit and make it a good shot. Your versions a better image than the still frame of the movie is- love the DoF Quote
fenris Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) haha, don't tell george ..and here's one of the most famous frame of boba... so baboalicious!!! Edited February 20, 2010 by fenris Quote
Future74 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I've tried to recreate a scene from the battle of Hoth. General Veers, at the cockpit of his command-AT-AT orders his Snowtroopers to attack. I like how you added the original movie frame, this makes your picture even more incredible As I said not so long ago; I like scenes that are recreated from the movies! And this is one epic scene, the AT-AT is about to destroy the shield generator. I wonder what TLC will do with the General Veers minifigure in the upcoming AT-AT. Looking at the scene the new imperial officer in the battlepack looks more like Veers than the minifigure included in the motorized AT-AT. Quote
AoNZ Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Wow! I always like dropping in here and checking the new shots. As always they are great. I like your movie shot fenris and as always smokebelch I like the backgrounds you manage to find in your shots. Quote
Brickus Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Great shots fenris, I wish I had that Cloud City Boba. Quote
Commander_Rob Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Dang you, Fenris, now you made me want to recreate movie scenes as well! Good shots though, I especially like the AT-AT cockpit scene. Future74 is right though, the BP officer looks a lot more like Veers than the "real" Veers minifig, so the Veers I currently is a very cobbled together affair: body from aforementioned officer, head from a Rebel soldier (which has a chinstrap, but no goggles) and original dark grey helmet. I might show him off if I can think of another scene with him, I don't want to do the exact same one Fenris has done already. Quote

prateek Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 haha, don't tell george ..and here's one of the most famous frame of boba... so baboalicious!!! Nice! It looks just like Boba in LSW2 on Jabba's Sail Barge level. So can anyone post sw lego pics in this topic? Yes Quote
Brickus Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Luke Skywalker be nimble Luke Skywalker be quick Luke Skywalker Jedi-jumped over the BBQ with the light stick lol, very nice dr_spock. Quote
Commander_Rob Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Hilarious picture, dr_spock, the face is perfect! With inspirations from fenris, here is my version of the AT-AT cockpit, the shot is not exactly like it is in the movie, but I think it looks OK like this. To get this picture, it took almost 30 attempts and a lot of tinkering with light and exposure times. I do have my reasons why I prefer outdoor pics with almost no set at all. Here is some of the fails: Hope you like! Quote
smokebelch Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) Awesome Boba shot fenris- very jealous of your printed Boba, always wanted one but not for the price they currently go for! Nice At-At cockpit shot too Rob Haha 30 shots is nothing- you should see how many i can take sometimes just for one shot! So can anyone post sw lego pics in this topic? Definatly- love to see people posting their shots up- threads open to all Just noticed as well we're up to 50 pages now as well! Edited February 21, 2010 by smokebelch Quote
Brickus Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Nice one Commander_Rob, it captures the movie perfectly. Quote

John31388 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Nice shot Commander_Rob. I think I am going to show some of my pics once I get my desktop hooked back up Quote
Commander_Rob Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Thank you all very much, and John31388, very much looking forward to seeing pictures from you. Smokebelch, I guess you have much higher standards for your pictures, being a more professional photographer. I just take some pictures when I have a good idea and I just work with what I get. This is the first time I actually built a set, put some thought and effort into lighting etc., and I am happy with the result. It could probably be better, but for now, I'm happy. Nice! You focused it perfectly Thanks, that was the main problem (apart from the light), my camera would focus on the side walls, the pilots, the wall behind Veers, his console or anything but him really, for about 80% of the time. Nice one Commander_Rob, it captures the movie perfectly. Thank you! I find it funny though, that while this image is firmly imprinted into my mind, there is never a shot like this in the movie, I checked the whole sequence and Veers is only ever seen from the angle that fenris had a while back. What do we learn from that? Don't trust your memory, it will betray you. - Someone, somewhere in Star Wars, I am so sure of it! Quote
smokebelch Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Nice new tag smokebelch! Thanks, yeah felt quite honoured to be given a special tag Was also great to see this topic hitting 50 pages, and seeing all the cool shots you guys have posted up Quote
Brickus Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Congratulations smokebelch on the new tag, I look forward to some of your new shots, all the ones in here are magnificent so far. Quote
fenris Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) congrats! if there would not have been smokebelch i wouldn't have my new favourite hobby - LSW-photography! Thanks again! @comdr rob: lighting is the hardes part in lego-photography... do you have a dslr or a compact cam? there should be some switch (in both cases) to change the focus in macro mode.. centered / more obejcts / etc... but i really like your shot! edith: 30 shots is standard sometimes the ratio is even worse to get a decent one...
