Commander_Rob Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Congratulations on the tag, smokebelch, well deserved! @comdr rob: lighting is the hardes part in lego-photography... do you have a dslr or a compact cam? there should be some switch (in both cases) to change the focus in macro mode.. centered / more obejcts / etc... but i really like your shot! Glad you like the picture, and well, I'd say I have a compact cam (Canon Powershot A1100is) to be precise, so options are a bit limited. Of course I use macro setting whenever I take pictures of anything Lego. That means the camera chooses something to focus on and usually that works fine, but in a crammed setting like this, focus on the background or a fig means a huge difference. So I have to press the shutter button slightly to make the camera tell me what it planned to focus on, every time and try again if it selected the wrong area. I guess I don't really have the right kind of camera for this kind of photography, but I also use it for a lot of other stuff, always take it along, etc. so it will have to do. On a different note, do you guys by any chance have sigfigs and plan to participate in the Whack-a-Fig contest? Quote

I don't know about that anymore, you've gotten pretty darn good- you've been posting some amazing images recently, and keeping this thread going strong . Think you'd be thoroughly deserving of the tag as well Quote

501st Commando Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 This is why you never move an AT-AT and a star destroyer at the same time. :P Lets get started! \ I get to use that?! All done. Eh, I think I will let the commandos handle this one. Sorry for the bad lighting. Quote
Brickus Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Did you actually drop those or did you set it up 501st? Quote
CommanderFox Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Nice pics 501st! Who's the guy whos driving the cleaning machine? CommanderFox Quote
Big Cam Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I don't recall the top of my star destroyer being white. Quote
fenris Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 haha, nice idea 501st! hope it was not to hard to put everything together again... 'Shock and awe to the Universe..!' .. Lord Vader motivating his troops... Quote
Commander_Rob Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Great picture, fenris, taht goes straight on the Imperial propaganda posters. I like the lighting and how you angled Vader's arms outward, how exactly did you do that? Quote
smokebelch Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Cool shot fenris- great effect with Vaders arms Quote
501st Commando Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Did you actually drop those or did you set it up 501st? I set down the AT-AT, and was holding the star destroyer, but made a wrong turn and they both fell. Only the bottom of the star destroyer broke, so it took about 5 minutes to fix that, but the AT-AT I will have to re-build. Nice pics 501st!Who's the guy whos driving the cleaning machine? CommanderFox It's my sig-fig. Quote
Brickus Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Another awesome shot fenris, if you replaced Darth With the emperor you could create the scene from Ep 3. Quote
pugsx3 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Looks Like BOBA FETT is having a bad cloud city day Quote
Big Cam Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Looks Like BOBA FETT is having a bad cloud city day Holy Crap, did you buy one??? Cool shot fenris- great effect with Vaders arms Congrats on the camera tag, you really deserve it. Quote
fenris Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Thanks a lot guys... there's not really a trick with vader and his arms. I took them out (it hurt - even me, not only vader) and used "plasticine" to get them into position... ..a use- and powerfull tool for lego-photography :-) Quote
pugsx3 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Holy Crap, did you buy one???Yes I had to buy it according to lego insider it is really limited to the 150 Congrats on the camera tag, you really deserve it. Quote
